I'm always amazed by those of you who say SF is cheapest - they have always been higher when I've quoted with them ... way higher in most instances. And last time I checked they wouldn't insure a full-time rv. More and more companies are now, but lots still don't, and many don't understand the differences.
I just got off the phone with the insurance company - I decided to take the rate that allows me to keep the car. It's beyond fair. And for those of you wondering, the rate if I gave them the car was only a couple dollars less than I paid for the car 5 years ago and the rate I'm getting is more along the lines I expected the first rate to be. They have been very fair in doing this.
Many think I should have given them the car, but none of this is structural - and I believe, better the enemy I know ... in this case, the POS I know
... and if I come back to SD next summer, I won't worry much about the hail ... as far as the car is concerned!
Now, I've been calling places about getting the much more minor damage to the rv fixed. I can't just take it in and leave it ... it is my home. One company is coming out next Tues and will look - they said they might even be able to do it here. That would be awesome. I'll wait until after they come by before I continue calling.
