I'm really happy with my insurance company through this whole hail mess and more.
I got all the details on my car today and it is being claimed as a total. I have to call back tomorrow with my decision on my choices. They have the two amounts... first it gets totaled and they take possession of the car. Second, it gets totaled but I keep possession of the vehicle. I thought in the second scenario I'd need to re-title as a salvage, but because of the age of the car, I don't need to even do that.
I'm leaning towards the 2nd choice, 99% decided. It's less money, but both money choices were higher than I was expecting and the costs associated with finding another vehicle, setting up for towing, etc would completely eat up difference, plus it's highly unlikely I'd find another car with as low mileage as I have anywhere in this price range.
While all this was going on, one of the reps looked at my policy and asked if I'd taken the aarp online safe driving course. Ha, have it on the computer but never finished. She told me to finish it and she could lower my premium over $50. Need to find it lol, as my premium is due. She also told me to call after I make my decision on the car and see if we can change anything on its coverage to lower the premium based on what's happened.
Oh, and they direct deposited the amount for repairs to my RV. That's already in my account. They'll do the same for the car when we get everything needed for that. I think all I need to do is get them a copy of my title.
This is much easier than I was expecting.
