Mini GTG Wednesday

Morning al,

Quick hello this morning. Leaving in about an hour to meet up with Louise (HavingFunNow) for lunch in Mt. Pleasant. About 100 mile drive for both of us. We do this periodically from time to time. Will be a gabfest for sure.

Queen, take a look at the Sportsman Classic line of trailers. They are built lightweight. Mine being a 19 ft. Weighs less than 3,ooo pounds, 3500 when carrying full load. Although they are plain Jane, a little imagination can make them downright homey. And they can be towed by todays smaller vehicles as long as they have the towing capacity for that weight and suspension system. My friend has one, a different model than mine and tows with her Dodge Caravan.

JudyJB, I am well familiar with Osborne Park. Have damped there before. One of my fondest memories was there. Early one morning it was foggy and ships were backed up. Once fog thinned, they started to move on. A lady was out by the river bank playing bagpipes when one came silently by. Watching that ship glide through the fog while listening to her play the pipes, has stayed with me to this day. It was beautiful.

Well, hair is wept, Ned to dry it and get a move on. You all have a great day, especially those at the OR GTG.

Just watched another ship go by. There is a web site where you can see where all ships on the Great Lakes are and can tell their direction, speed, and arrival port: http://ais.boatnerd.com/ Fun to know the John Munson would be coming by and then seeing it. Just love this campground, and really recommend it. Nice friendly fellow-campers also.

I have been up for a while and dumped my tanks at dump station, cleaned windshield, did some rearranging, and started beef soup for dinner. So now I am finally settled and having a very late breakfast/lunch. Chatted with a couple of pairs of neighbors also about full-timing and vehicles. They had old trailers and were thinking of motorhomes, so I showed them my awkward dump area and how difficult my water pump was to get to, and told them to look for those things that the dealers NEVER show you! (I have to stick my head into the sanitary compartment to reach the attachment for my sewer hose. Moving it four inches would have made all the difference. And the water pump would be easy to fix if I would not have to crawl into the pass through with half of my body!!)

So, relaxing day today. Got papers from new semester to work on, but one class only has 8 graduate students. I LOVE graduate students because they follow instructions and proofread, so I have a lot less writing to do on their work! Most are in 30s and 40s, so they have some life and business experience, which really makes a difference.

Kind of squeaking in under the wire here but here I am!

So sorry to hear about all our Sisters getting sick up in Oregon at the gtg. Hope they are feeling much better today.

Got that dang ol' window caulked AGAIN and rain is forcast for today (and for next several days, unfortunately) so I guess I'll find out pretty soon if I got it right this time.

Easy peasy day today, just one dog to walk and no more horses (or donkeys Hee Haw!). The fun starts all over again this Friday with 3 places to be at once and DH wants to go out to breakfast with friends!

Saw Donna's post about her Maggie not feeling well, hope she is ok. Tough when your furbaby isn't feeling right.

Window leaks can be a pain as we found out on our bus as to leaks. People kept saying check the weep holes, it's probably that they are blocked causing the leak. We kept looking and could not find them. Then discovered the guy who converted the bus put the passenger side long slider window in upside down so weep holes were at top instead of bottom!!! Appears he wanted both sides to match as to which direction they slid and he had two left side windows so turned one upside down so it slid same direction when put on right!!! We still have trouble with it because there was so way it flip it due to way opening was cut without major repair of side of bus.

Velda, I am going to schedule a day at the factory service center in Decatur, IN, on my may west in mid-October. I want them to inspect and do some maintenance on my slides, and I am going to ask them about extending the sewer hookup and moving the water pump. The sewer would be hard to move because there would have to be a new hole cut in the bottom of the closed compartment and a new cover installed, and considering there is always one there, it would make it tricky.

I am more concerned about the water pump. I am on my third water pump and have constantly had problems with it. If I don't use it at least once a day, it loses its prime and is very difficult to get it pumping again. If I could reach it more easily, I could do some of the fixes myself instead of paying big bucks to someone else. For example, I was told by the pump manufacturer that there were only three screws to remove, but there is no way I can reach those without crawling inside the compartment, which I just cannot do at my age.

After 3 years of full-time living in this rig, I want to make sure everything in my slide mechanism is OK, even if it costs me $$. Last item on my list is to try to get some of those dual shades installed. The ones I have all have broken strings and are sagging. Living full time is hard on things, I guess.

JudyJB, will keep fingers crossed for you that they can make your rig better in all the ways you have in mind as I know it would make your travels easier to not have to worry.
