Paulette I have been meaning to ask if you had went to that Gem Mountain that we talked about. That's the one Kelly and I went to. I have a bunch of rocks left over from going there. I have wanted to get a tumbler for the longest time. Now after reading all this I will bypass the cheapie one from the hobby shop and WalMart and go with the better one. I can hardly wait. I love to pick rocks.

One of the places I want badly to go to is the diamond mine in Arkansas outside of Little Rock. I just want to play and see what I find. :D

I've always thought that would be fun to do, too, Echo. I loved panning for gold in Alaska.

Yes, Echo, we did. I can't remember the name of it now? But we had fun "mineing". Yes, pass on the cheapie...it ain't worth the money.

Beth, I finally uploaded a picture of the rocks before they are polished.

They are in a baggie, so there is a little glare from the light.

I've tried to make a couple pieces of jewelry...but that was when I was struggling with finding the right contacts for my eyes. I'll try again one of these days when I get some "spare" time. I like Sparkle's idea of just putting them in a bowl for "display".

This is Sparkle speaking. When Beth and I go to New Mexico we will be passing, I think its called Gem Mountain State Park, or something like that. You can take out up to 20lbs of gemstone. But they said you needed to bring your own tools. I would imagine that would be a small pickaxe and shovel? I don't think we have time to actually dig, but we may go in just to check out what is there and how much it costs. I remember they had Jasper and other stones.

That sounds like fun. The mining we did was in a water troph (sp) and with a sifter screen.
