Since the fire had burned out, I took the opportunity to clean out the old ashes and build the stones up a bit. There appears to be plenty of wood for now and the fire is doing fine now. The chairs are still here. It is so nice to know that no one has made off with any of them when we weren't looking. So if you have time to stop by don't worry if you have forgotten your chair there are plenty folded up in the shelter just waiting to be borrowed. This way when you are really tired, it is one less thing to haul out. Just bring yourself. Figured the campfire just seem to call to us more in the evening when the business of the day has wound down. The president is talking about our "knotty problems" on TV tonight, but I find the campfire much better for my attention at the moment. It is almost as if we have two ways to check in with each other. The morning "earlybirds" check in for coffee and then some of us check in at the end of the day for the hot choc. or the Bailey's. The wine goes so much better after 4:00 o'clock :)

I'd betchya hot chocolate with Bailey's would be wonderful (if it was cold enough outside)...otherwise, the wine'll do just dandy!

Once, I was on a friend's sailboat in the British Virgin Islands. I was first up (crack of dawn). Captain was next. He put on the coffee. Several minutes later, poured himself less than half a cup of joe, took a bottle of Bailey's out of the galley table storage (mind you - it's around 5:00AM) and proceeded to fill the entire rest of his mug...he saw the surprised look on my face and said, "Takes the edge off the morning."

I love that not only do people leave our chairs alone, the other campers don't raid our shelves with the beer on them. :) Am sitting briefly to catch my breath. Have to go to training classes to night to help with the graduation CGC test for the beginners group. Herschel usually goes to play the part of the "Meet a stranger with a friendly dog" part. He loves anything that includes a few nice ear scratched and a possible belly rub. Blondie is scheduled to have an x-ray done tomorrow to try to guess how many pups she is planning to have next week. I am trying a new vet that several of my friends have used for some time. They speak highly of the group and because they are located in a more rural area their prices are much more reasonable that the clinic I worked for. They managed to add a charge for anything and everything. I figure I will talk to them and if I like the looks of the place and how they interact with Blondie and I, I will bring the litter back in for first shots, etc..... I spent today running errands for last minute "medical" supplies, ie I couldn't find my thermometer, needed baby wipes and some soft paper towel...not those cheap ones I usually use......Now if I can talk one of my friends into coming over and helping....:) The baby watch/care through the middle of the night by yourself is nerve racking.... Okay it has been raining all day and all the four legged furry ones are ranging from damp to soaking wet. They seem content to stay in their small tiled anti-room area for now, but I know that later tonight they will expect the couch, sigh. Need to get another old blanket out.

PUPPIES????? PUPPIES!!!!

I can't WAIT to see the puppies! They would love the fire, too. Gotta keep this fire going so the puppies can stay warm when Mom goes for a walkabout.

I am leaving some more wood, some hot chocolate, some flavored brandies, and some Michelob Ultra beer. Should be something for everyone here now! Thanks for keeping up the fire, you all! After tomorrow night, I'm not sure just when I'll get back online. I guess I should try getting on with my laptop right now, so these forums will recognize me...I hope I remember my username and password, or whatever I need. I found the paper of passwords I use, so will bring that with me and hope I can get on.

I'll be on tomorrow morning and Friday morning, then I'm off after school. I can try my brother's computer and see if it'll let me get on here.

Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Soos, shouldn't matter what computer you are on, as long as you know your username and password.

ok, so its Survivor night tonight, for some reason its switched to wednesday just
for this week but I really wanted to enjoy a pizza tonigh since I hadn't had one in
awhile and last friday's pizza at work stirred my taste buds. So I call Pizza Hut and
order that $6 pizza they have been advertising like crazy, turns out it was $8 after
they added the topping and tax. Not only that, but I think they must have bought
a bunch of crust from Peter Piper cause thats what it taste like, cardboard crust.
What a disappointment, I've always enjoyed Pizza Hut, but something has really
changed at Pizza Hut. Ok, I'm off to watch Survivor now.

Oh, I want to see the puppies as well.
Thanks for the warm fire. Sorry I don't have wood to leave for the fire tonight - everything soaking wet, not going to dry out any time soon. We had about an inch of rain today, short break in rain at moment but more heavy rain (up to 2.5 inches more) along with high winds due between 1:00 and 5:00 AM. A third round of more severe storms due on Friday. Hopefully no tornados but flooding and hail are likely. Todays rain washed enough of the pollen out of air to make it easier to breath. And then there will be more spring flowers.
Pantry is a bit low as I haven't done weekly shopping, but did find some popcorn and V8 juice to leave. We're getting a pretty weird collection of food and drink here. Has anyone seen a bear or other critters lurking in area? :P

So glad you gals have kept the campfire going. I brought a bag of Marshmallows for Lori-----and all of us. I haven't had time to toast a marshmallow for awhile so I think I'll have a couple. I like them toasted slow to a golden brown where they are all gooey inside. It has been a really tough time the past couple weeks but this week is starting better. Mary started radiation yesterday and she also saw the surgeon who dresses her foot and he says next week to start walking in an orthodic shoe then they will cast her foot for orthodics, order diabetic shoes and make the toe filler for the one shoe. Someone will be with her through her radiation treatments (25 instead of the 33 they told us originally) and hopefully by the first of May she will be on her own.

The fire feels great and I'm heading over to Crispy Creme for an assortment of donuts!!! Hot choc. is ready. I have never tried whipped creme in it but I love whipped cream so I'm gonna have to pick up some and try it!!

Hey, remember even in all these March showers (couldn't wait till April apparently) that there is always some dry firewood back under the shelter, right below the shelf with the bottles! I hope we don't have to report to any zoning commission but this place is looking sweet....muddy in spots but overall just fine.

Well, now you have me a-thinkin'...... maybe we'd better be prepared. So I borrowed a truck and hauled in this.... a bear-proof container for our snacks and goodies. Wouldn't want a tipsy bear filling up on marshmellows and all that good stuff!

too bad the photo from the web advertisement won't reproduce any larger than a thumnail...but you got the idea!

By golly Cedar I think that is a grand idea. Keep the pesky coons out, too! If it has a combination, like left door first the right door, let us all know so we can be sure to keep stashing those goodies. I have the shelf milk and chocolate for those of us that need the hot chocolate! Course there is some Bailey's there, too, just in case some Sparkle needs a pick me up.
