Mornin' Ladies ~

Well Sue's probably on the road now, Donna too, or will soon be, and Barbie has hitch itch for her first trip. Looks like traveling season is in full mode now.

Not much for breakfast, except for coffee, so pour yourself a cup and enjoy the day.

Good morning Cheryl and all ladies who follow,

Good to hear from you, Cheryl. Hope your trip went well.

Yes, all of us are beginning to head out in different direction. I will be attempting a maiden voyage (at last) this weekend despite the rain forecast.

Not sure what today will bring other than the usual chores. One of my clients just moved to a new house so my lovely Greyhound is back on the walking schedule for this week. She's been off it for the past month while her owners were waiting to close on the house, they were living with their in-laws.

Laundry day, I already have the second load in, Need to hit the grocery store too, almost out of milk!

Breakfast was blueberry bagels and coffee, help yourself,
Kathy

good morning ladies
so much to do and so little time, but it will all get done and if not, oh well :D
Barbie, so excited for your new to you popup, I can see you looking out the window at your camper in the parking lot
Thats what dreams are made of :D
Soos and Donna on a roadtrip northward.
Sue on a roadtrip too?
Haven't seen Carolb post in awhile, guess I'm gonna have to get on the phone and see whats up with that.
And....Linda gonna head out to join Beth in Keystone. Good deal for both :D
Got my car cleaned out and vacuumed yesterday and its ready to start packing. Will leave bright and early Friday, probably before sunrise. There is a certain urgency to get there so I'll probably drive straight through, of
course stopping to rest here n there. My friend Jon isn't doing well and his dad isn't doing well either. I actually had to call
911 and get rescue over to him and finally got a hold of his sister and she took over until I get there. Jon's bp was 180/111.
So blood pressure meds now and also one for anxiety. My doctor appt is noon tomorrow and I could actually leave town after that. However, IF I did that, I wouldn't tell him because his anxiety level would drive him crazy. I would however let his
sister know I was coming in early. She would be grateful as they have Jon over at there house until I get there.
Well, sitting on the computer isn't getting my stuff done, so ya'll have a great day and be safe where ever your travels take you.

Cloudy and rain here this morning but that's ok, I like clouds and it is keeping the temps down. Gosh Ava, I was thinking you were going on a real vacation, are you going to take care of Jon instead.
A friend of mine was almost the victim of a weird scam yesterday. It just amazes me the scams that people try especially at the most vulnerable times. She lost her husband recently and she had just mailed her forms in to get a small life insurance policy he had. Yesterday she received a call (she doesn't have caller ID) from a place claiming to be the insurance company. They told her they had received her paper work and then told her that her husband had stopped making payments in 2013 but if she wanted to pay those back premiums she could. If she didn't pay she would receive $2,500.00 but if she paid them, she would get $18,000. They told her she had to make the premium payments in cash that day! (Huge RED flag) they told her there were only certain places she could do this and told her the nearest one to her was 4 hours away. She said a friend near lived there and could do it for her. THe money was to be taken to a Sav-A-Lot grocery and there they would buy 5 cash cards of a particular type with $500.00 on each card then mail the card to a PO box number which they gave her. She called her friend who, when she told her husband, he immediately recognized it as a scam. He did go to the grocery though and told them they were being used in this scheme. They told him they had stopped issuing that particular type of card months ago when someone else reported it. My friend also called the real insurance company and they are pretty upset of course thinking their records have been hacked.
I know to most of us we would recognize all the warning bells in this scam attempt, but, when you are stressed out and dealing with what seems like endless amounts of paperwork maybe your just not as alert as one might be in normal circumstances. I advised her to get caller ID and if she doesn't recognize a number or if it is an 800 number let the call go to the answering machine. Then if she feels the call should be returned do not call the number they indicate, look up the companies number online or in her paperwork and call.
I'm glad to see Mitch's little Abby is home and doing well. So scary when our little ones are sick.

Ava drive carefully on your trip, please!
BJ, I almost had that happen to me. When my Mom passed away I got a call from her insurance company that afternoon! I hadn't called them (I didn't even know for sure what ins. company she had) and being in such a state from just losing her that morning, I gave them a lot of personal info over the phone for the claim. Turned out ok, tho because my sibling had actually contacted them that day. But THAT'S another sad story. I now know first hand what kind of a ______ calls the insurance company 5 hours after his Mother passes away.

BJ, glad someone stopped your friend from sending money. There are some real low lives out there. Almost makes you not want to print an obituary so they can't get your information. We got a call the other day with our name and phone number in the caller ID. I answered it just to see who it was. It was one of the recordings offering to lower our interest rate.

We had another line of storms blow through this morning and it's still raining. This is just getting ridiculous. I want to go camping but not have to just sit inside because it's raining.

Hope everyone on the road has better weather than I have.

I'm at Beverly Beach State Park, where I'm staying for three days before returning to Portland. Still reeling from the death of my youngest son on May 1st and trying to get my head together. Every morning I tell myself I can't so this, but then I realize that I AM doing it. It's not easy, and there are moments when I break down, but I'm doing it. Logging on to womenrv has helped restore some sense of normality. So thank you Beth for your work on this site.

I hope everyone traveling is safe and enjoying their trips. There is so much to see! And those of you in the path of nasty weather, please be careful.

I've been thinking about you Judi and wondering how you are getting along, so thanks for posting.
Yes, losing a child is devastating. All I can say is we understand what you are going through. Keep your other kids close, and visit with friends frequently. Know we care for you. Lyn

Got new tires on the camper and the title changed. It is unhitched and opened up to air it out since it got rained on yesterday, (Sunny and 85 today!) Will close it back up tonight after work since it is supposed to rain again tomorrow. I brought back the hitch mount since it isn't the right size. Will have to go on line to try to find one that will work and get it by next week.

Sounds like everyone is on the move!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Oh, Judi, we've never met; and I cannot claim to know what you are going through. However, my thoughts and prayers are with you and you family during this terribly difficult time. Glad you're going towards home to be with family.

Judi, I have been wondering where you are. Barbie, so glad you found the pop-up - or I guess it found you in a way!

Colorado weather hasn't been the greatest - like many places. I was at Black Canyon of the Gunnison 3 nights and thunderstorm predictions just kept coming. I finally rode for awhile one day figuring that was my window of opportunity to see part of the park! It was cold! I had no phone service and very sketchy Internet while there.

Posted link to today's train ride photos in General Forum. Highly recommend Hwy 50 across Colorado - particularly between Montrose and Canon City - beautiful!

Looking forward to reports from those on the road. Safe travels!

Judi, I too, have been wondering how and where you were. Moving around on the road, visiting different ones, might be better then getting home and have more time to think of your loss. I'm just phrasing what I found to be true, when I lost my DH, I managed so much better out on the road, visiting our children. When here I suffered really bad times, got where I didn't allow myself to stay here long. I am so sorry for your loss, I can't imagine and don't want too, you've been in my prayers and I pray that as time passes, you will be able to tolerate the pain better. This forum is always here for you, so glad to hear from you today, there are more mothers here, who know what you are forced to deal with. Still very hard for some of them too, but they might in some way be able to help you. Please keep posting as often as you can !!!

Anita, I have traveled hwy 50 through Colorado , several times, and it is BEAUTIFUL, never tire of the ride, but have never ridden the train, that's a must do next time I'm that way, can't tell might be this summer . Loved your pictures, getting anxious to head that way. Love traveling around Colorado, beautiful state.

Hope all have had a good day, haven't done all I had hoped or planned to do today, but then that isn't always new or different here :D Have been looking for word from some of our travelers, haven't seen anything from Sue yet, and thinking maybe Donna and Soos, don't have a good signal to post this evening.

Ok back at it here,
CArol :)
