When I bought my Jeep it had a really fancy stereo system in it that I couldn't even figure out how to turn on and off. Even my friend Steve, who is totally into tech gadgets, couldn't figure any of it out. So I ordered the original stereo for the Jeep on EBay and put that in. So much better!

My husband loves to listen to the police radio. Several years ago he bought one that the box store clerk assured him it was very simple to use. Ha. He never could figure out how to use it and after several frustrating weeks he returned it. He can use the I pad here at home to get police stations all over the country but when we're at a camp ground using the WiFi it limits how much he can use it and use up our gigs. He wants one with an off/on switch and a tuner knob for skimming around the country. I think those days are gone.

I just have to add my two cents on this radio business :D I have this unit that is radio, and every kind of player, not sure what all it will do, have not figured it out. But I made the mistake of playing the radio,( love the speakers located everywhere, so therefore you do not have to play it loud to annoy neighbors), which was fine for a year or so, then I did something that caused it to come on at 6:00 EVERY MORNING !!! I had somehow set the alarm, could not figure out what I had done different the last time radio was played, so therefore I was woke up miserably for several mornings, one morning got little ticked, got up and pushed some buttons, must have been right one as does not come on at 6 in morning and I have not played radio since, AFRAID

I have to add, my Grandson in Fl, went through the whole thing with me, he loved all it would do, well, Grandma here has forgotten most of all he showed me. Another thing to conquer some day with book in hand and maybe even said GS there to help this thick skull soak it all in

So glad to see these few comments about these fantastic radio units we have, and to know I am not the only one at a total loss as to what I really have  besides this pain in my rear    and being shocked awake those mornings. :o

Thanks for the good chuckle and making me feel not so much a real dodo,
CArol :)

What a nightmare radio! I would probably have hit it with a hammer if the alarm did that!!!

I also am glad to know others have problems. What are these manufacturers THINKING???

I've found if I get out the manual and go step by step, I can figure out how to operate these things. I read the manuals cover to cover on anything I buy and then keep them handy because I know I'll probably not remember it all. I've had people tell me I'm crazy when I sit down with a new car manual the very first day I get the car. It works though!

In Q in January, I was concerned my heater wasn't working correctly. It wasn't blowing from the ceiling vents. I got all upset and ended up calling La Mesa RV in Yuma to talk to a tech. They finally gave me a "tech" to talk to and he assured me the air only comes out of the floor cents. He said to take a tissue and put it up to the ceiling vents and I would see that they were intake vents and the tissue would cling. So I tried that and they didn't cling. So much for "tech" advice. So I got out my manual and found in the supplemental manual for the AC/Heater that if the temperature outside is below a certain temp, the ceiling vents would not work. Sure enough, it was COLD outside. When it warmed up I tried the heater again and the ceiling vents worked in addition to the floor vents. Another lesson for me to read the manual and not depend on the so-called "techs" at RV dealers.

I have read all the literature and there was a lot with this vehicle when I got it. Entertainment section reading and figuring out, still not finished and just really haven't taken the time, to set with book and try to work it out. I will one day, always so many things to do, when I'm out in it :D . I do have the vehicle book still very handy to answer questions that come up, like my front seats according to the guy who gave me the tour said do not turn around, when cleaning really good, after first year, guess what I found out, they do turn around and I am soooo happy. It was just a good thing, I had some idea of how things worked or were supposed to. My old rv was 19 yrs old and gas, so many differences but I'm loving this one more and more.

I will read manual and get it all going one of these days

Radios. Ya. Myrtle has an after market radio/cd player. Can't listen to CD's, as it skips or stops when I hit bumps  I can only listen to radio when in a city that has stations, as the antenna sucks  I would really like to get something new, but would have to have it installed. I loved it when my son put me on his XM account. I would put the antenna in the dash and plug in the receiver boom box to my 12V converter. I could use the remote while driving. Now, I do that with my Ipod boom box, but can't change albums with my remote. Have to do that when I stop. It's all very frustrating when you don't have a copilot.

Had a 4.1 earthquake this evening. It felt stronger, to me, but may be because I live in a motor home. I went outside to see if the neighbors felt it and we had a nice little group gtg  Rick was outside and said he didn't feel it, but saw his awning shaking and thought it was wind. I thought it was Rags, scratching or jumping off the bed, until it got stronger :o I looked online and see that Napa has been having quite a few, lately. I used to say that I couldn't feel them, unless they were at least 5.0, but I didn't live in an RV, then. Even my drop leave table was banging!

Well, I'm soon to survive 3 weeks at work 8-) I honestly didn't think I'd still be here, but the addition of Mary has made my job much more pleasant. She loves to organize and plan, so we are working well, together. The ranch mgr said Allison emailed him a schedule, today, so he's going to meet with me, in the morning. I sure hope I don't have to do closing shift, but may have to on Thursdays, when Allison is off. Mary arranged, in advance, to start at 7:30, on her workdays. Smart lady. It wouldn't be so bad to close if the lodge wasn't open so frickin late! A new workamper couple arrived, last night, too. She will be working in activities and he will be working at the pool. That may help. We have been gearing up for the holiday weekend. I cleaned the Teen Center and some other things. Cleaned the hot dog cart. It was stored in the barn and you can imagine  Mary is excited about the golf cart parade, so we worked a little on our preparation for that. "Your Favorite Movie" is the theme. Ours will be a minion. Should be cute. Who knows? Maybe I will make it through the summer, here ;)

I ran an ad on Craigslist for Penny  I have to have something I don't have to worry about towing 4 down, behind Myrtle. Didn't like using the U-Haul tow dolly, on the way here! Thinking of a Ford Ranger or Jeep, with standard transmission. Tempted to get a motorcycle or trike and a trailer.

What a zoo it is here!!!!!! I went in at 11:00 and was on the go all day. They were just finishing up the pancake breakfast, so I cleaned some, before Mary and I headed outside to do the lawn games with the kids. We played 4 games and everyone seemed to have a good time. Got some compliments on the games we chose. I also worked at the ice cream social and Mary, her husband, and I decorated a golf cart for the golf cart parade. We had decided "your favorite movie" for the theme", so we decorated ours as a minion, from "Despicable Me". The "Ghostbuster" cart won 1st place. We drove all over and I threw candy. Between all of the activities, I constantly got interrupted by kids to check out gear. It's really a lousy system, they have, but they didn't ask me ;) We have books to log equipment and DVDs in and out, but it's impossible to know who returned what, accurately. I, personally, would have the movies out on the bookshelves and let people do it on their own. The other equipment, like games, balls, etc, I would expect them to bring their own. They don't take care of it, anyway. Jay, who just quit the other day, worked many hours to fix up the miniature golf course. The kids just beat it up with the putters. They trashed the teen center, today, I heard. These are kids, or guests, of the owners! They think of us as maids and servants. Very demanding and expect us to clean up after them. If a better offer comes....

Well, I went and did it! I sold Penny  I already miss her, but I ran an ad on Craigslist and sold her last night. I haven't really had time to look for something else and haven't quite decided. I do know that it will probably be something with standard transmission, so less likely to have problems with towing. I need to talk to Nellie, the lady who runs the ranch store, to see if I can go with her to get groceries. She goes into town, quite a bit, to shop for the store, etc. I could go on the Goldwing, with Rick, but it will be 2 weeks since I shopped and I need more than will fit in his trunk.

One of the women employees quit today, no notice. She actually drove her mh up to the store to return her keys. I asked what was going on - she never spoke. Mixed blessings. Now I'm short-handed, but I think I've already pretty much covered this week if the rest agree to what I'm doing. One couple who is off today has to agree first as they have the most changes. They aren't home so will find them later.

Have contacted Linda in case she might still be interested in leaving her California job. Would love to have her here :)

The sun actually came out for a bit today - was nice to see. We certainly do NOT need more rain, but that's what we got a few minutes ago and they are saying rain off and on all week. If it's like today, so far, I can deal with it - especially if we see the sun more.

Hopefully, Linda will jump at that! She is a very dedicated hard worker and would be a great addition there! And she would be much closer to her mom and daughter and grandkids there. (And I could maybe go out there for a visit this summer too!)

Nothing like giving some notice! Good riddance. Hopefully, you will get a good replacement that will make your life easier.

Wonder if the second will do the same?

I've decided to join forces with Beth :D The timing is amazing! God's work, no doubt 8-) This place is nuts! Just when I thought I could probably tough it out, it gets nuttier! My supervisor is really not supervisor material. Trust me...I was looking elsewhere! Now, I will have to talk to the ranch mgr tomorrow. He knows I'm not happy, so don't think he will be surprised. Then, it's just a matter of packing up and getting the heck out of here!
