The Last Day of April

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

The Last Day of April

Postby Colliemom » Thu Apr 30, 2015 5:58 am

Good Morning on this last day of the 4th month of the year. May looks like it's going to be busy for those of us planning trips etc. and like always, it and the summer will fly by. Let's not think about that :D

Finished making my little cupboard storage project. Nothing special, just a little wood box to keep glasses, cups from moving around and also foodstuffs. Will paint them later on here. But today, not getting into anything as will be heading tomatraverse City airport to pick up my neighbor this afternoon. So just relaxing this morning. Molly and I had a good nights sleep, last night, so we are bright eyed a bushy tailed this morning.

Liz and Nan seem to be having a great time exploring the outer banks. Great pictures and narration Liz. Donna, hope you get to head north pretty soon. As to every one else, have a nice day whatever you do, :)

Good morning, Donna and all to follow. Yep, time to head to PA, our temps are trying to get up into the 60s! next week sopposed to get into the 70s! I actually got the mower started for the first time this season and mowed my backyard yesterday! Loved it! Sure beats shoveling snow! Rain today so inside stuff today. Or I could sit on the porch and watch the grass grow! Sounds like lots of trip planning going on and ladies on the move. Soon, Lola, soon! Have a great day and stay safe.

Good Morning, It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. :) I know what you mean about watching the grass grow, I called the guy who mows and told him I was going to have to send a search party out for Mitzi if it got any higher. He finally came yesterday and worked for 6 hours doing all the mowing and tree trimming. Our pear trees need to be cut back every spring so there will be lots of pears for the squirrels and raccoons. :(
Donna, I know how you feel I think I stress more now too maybe it just comes with the numbers. If you aren't in a big hurry could you plan your trip as you go, deciding day to day where to stop next. I used to not mind traveling alone but now I wish I were meeting or traveling along with someone.
I'm so glad I decided not to take Elsie to STL, by the time I got out of my appointment the traffic was pretty heavy. I took a wrong turn and then had to try and get back in line for the turn to the freeway. A nice lady slowed and let me in, then she was able to merge first and slowed again to let me in!! I was really sending her lots of mental thank yous. I meet such nice people in the city, last time I went my doctor had moved to a new building and I couldn't find the entrance. A nice man who worked there came along and not only showed me, but since we were chatting, he went all the way to her office with me and told the nurse to call him if I needed help finding my car. I was a bit embarrassed until I found out that it was a problem most people were having. You would think they would have more sense than to make entrances hidden in a medical facility and not have ANY signs. I was quite happy when I was out of the city and came to the little roadside tavern called Mary's and stopped for a sandwich and a beer!

What a beautiful Thursday will be in the 60s not the 70s of yesterday... will be in the 80s next week... way too early for that! but we take what we can get...
Still feeling joy for Kathy and her great find... it will be perfect for her!
Someone from the adult care services of Illinois is going to come help me get the medical bills figured out... what a mess that is... if we can get them figured out they will apply for medical services from Illinois that way maybe I can get the needed treatment for my hips and spine...
I get to take my laundry to my daughters tomorrow... do not like not having a washer! may start looking and see what I can find...
So many thinking of traveling... Liz and Nan are finding a lot of things to visit and look at... CArol still cleaning out and sorting... what a huge job that is... may be in my future soon...
Have a great day everyone...

Whew, Donna, I thought you were saying "hi" and telling us YOU were going to be 82 today!!

I will be 72 in June. Getting old is rough but better than the alternative.

Hi gals!

Got a notice yesterday that someone was coming today to check out my heating system in my apartment, so that meant I needed to do a quick cleaning around here. Nothing like a little motivation to finally get things cleaned and organized! Finally got it all done at 10:30 this morning just when they knocked on my door! Whew!

Another gorgeous day but had some errands to run so no kayaking today. :(

Got my new (used, original to the car) stereo put in my Jeep and it is still not working right. I had told Steve it is loose wires to the speakers, but he insisted it was the radio itself. Well, new radio, same problem.

My computer also came back with all the same problems and even slower than before. I had the son of one of my coworkers take a look at it for me and I told him what was going wrong. Well, still getting the blue screen of death (crash dump), and virus-looking messages popping up on my screen. Grrrr!!!

Last night I stopped at DQ for a sundae and ended up sharing a picnic table with an older couple. They were reminiscing about the area around the lake and I jumped into their conversation (I do that alot!). We got to talking and it turns out that they are good friends with the people who used to live next door to my dad. My dad actually bought his lots from their friends' dad almost 70 years ago. It was a fun and interesting conversation! They are getting together with those friends for dinner tonight. I told them to say hi to them since I haven't seen them in ages. What a small world!
Yesterday at work, I gave a haircut to a guy who's brother I went to school with. Then we started talking more and it turns out this guy knows and works with my ex-fiance (the good one who got away  ) and his friends (over the road truckers) from way back 30+ years ago, so we had fun talking about who's doing what now, etc.

I need to remember to say "RABBITS" tonight (just after midnight). Need some good luck for May!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Thanks for the reminder about rabbits, Barbie, I hope to remember. Surely need it this month, too!

Yep, its a very small world. The couple who just started working this week at the store - I knew she was from Iowa - but not only is she probably the first person who has ever heard of the little town my mom and her family was from - she was born just down the way. We haven't had a chance to talk names of relatives, etc - but I bet she knows some of mine.

The next three plus days I'll be working 6:30 am till after 7 pm - with, hopefully a short break each day to at least come walk Peaches. May not be on here at all - so don't come looking for me.

Thanks Barbie, I put a "RABBITS" sticky on my computer. I know I will be up at 12:00. I try to refrain from joining someone's conversation but they better not be talking about RV's. I followed someone around the Walmart parking lot a while back because they were driving a motorhome like mine. When they stopped I went and talked to them. They probably thought I was a stalker.

I brought Harold for his 6 month check up and all his tests were good. We don't have to go back until November.

I heard yesterday that they were almost ready to open the bridge that has been closed 5 months and when they turned the power on they fried the electrical work and motors. Grrrrr It's a lift bridge on the river. I hate having to take the detour every time I go to town.

The weather is so nice I almost feel like going to the lake but I don't feel like driving 5 hours.
