Inspection

Just had the 2002 conquest sport inspected. They said well maintained, in good mechanical condition. What I am not sure of, is that it has no exterior storage. She does have a thing on the bumper for small stuff. Am I going to miss having that storage, or do smaller c not have it? Thoughts, please.

Does it have storage inside, like under the bed or dinette seats? I've been looking for a while now and can't remember any I've seen that didn't have at least some outside storage. Does it have a ladder/roof rack where you might put a storage unit?

Each model comes with its own storage dimensions . That said my previous 22 ft Class C had very little outside storage for medium camping sized things like camp chairs, inflatable kayaks and other bulky sort of things. I managed several years with a rack on the back (to Alaska) and making room inside. We make room for the things that matter to us. It doesn't exactly make for stylish travel but it functions......I kept reminding myself of the early settlers.....what they took in those little wagons and what they left behind. The more rigs you look at the more you will understand the trade off of storage available and size of rig. In truth, as Melissa has added other places, until you have camped and traveled a bit, your real list of wants and needs will not be complete.

I have to agree with what Tina has said. My RoadTrek , I think had more outside storage than my current rv but have managed to get the important things stored. I have definitely learned what I need and don't really need and each trip seems to teach me more! Sometimes it amazes me that I get by with so little on a trip! I think it will take you a few trips to decide all that! I'm still rearranging and adding or taking away stuff! And I'm sure it's different for each of us!

My current rig is larger than my last. My last had less outside storage, but not none. This one has more outside storage and less inside (not quite true, configured differently and less easily accessible inside storage, anyway). As said, I've made do with both. I actually have purchased a few things I probably shouldn't have just because I have space for them... Kind of like the size house you own dictates how much you own ... same thing with rigs.

How do you LIKE the rig? Could you see yourself in her?

thanks everyone for your input, I appreciate it. I don't need a lot of stuff, but I am still bothered by no storage outside. I do have a bike I want to take, and inflatable kayak, couple chairs, grill, jumper cables, tools. Beth, you had asked if I could see myself in it and I can say no. It is basically everything I was looking for but yet I was disappointed when I looked at it. I don't know why, I can't point to a specific reason I just was not thrilled. So I will probably not purchase this one.

I think I know what you mean by being disappointed somehow. It's how I've felt with every MH I've looked at so far. Unlike my truck camper, which I loved the minute I saw it and walked into it. That's how I know each one just isn't right for me. Just keep on looking!

Some people say to take what is acceptable. I say to wait until you walk in that makes you feel at home and you can't wait to stay in. It doesn't mean it'll necessarily be new and shiny, etc ... but you'll just know. My current rig didn't have a couple of my "must haves" and I have made do - as it just simply spoke to me And it certainly wouldn't speak to everyone - just as I can like lots of other people's rigs but not want them ... if you understand that.

You'll both find the right one. Now, on the other hand, don't not let yourself feel the love ... sometimes we do that, too.

When we found ours I had given the salesman a my list of "want and don't want". He actually found 3 units that match my list but only one, was the right one. As others have said you'll know it when you walk in. It's like a house vs a home. When you're home, you'll feel it.

Such good advice given... I also gave the salesman at camping world in Greenwood In my list of must haves and wants... he is in that business and had one that fit nicely!
My 27' Jayco Eagle has a lot of outside and inside storage... perfect fit for me... do not like booth tables and I do not have one...
Sometimes you have to travel in one to know what you need/want!

I think it's important to hold out for the things which will make you feel comfortable because if you settle without them, you will never like your rig.

For example, I said I had to have a bed I could walk around because of my bad knees and at least one comfortable place to sit and watch TV. And that comfortable place had to be a recliner because of my bad back. If I had not found a way to have my recliner, I would have been very uncomfortable sitting on the couch or whatever, which would have made me very unhappy and hate my rig and living in it.

It takes a while, but you will find what you want. Just keep looking and don't give up.

My previous motorhome was a 1992 Allegro Class C made by Tiffin. I think they quit making Class C's about 1994. That motorhome had bins like a Class A and that really spoiled me. I carried around way more stuff than I needed just because I could. Lack of storage is my main complaint about my Coach House. I have one outside storage bin. Just big enough to hold my electric cord, one bag of levelers, the sewer hose and 2 lawn chairs. I have to keep my water hose in the shower because I don't want it in with the sewer hose.

I bought a Honda CR-V in case I wanted to tow but haven't made up my mind to spend that money. I keep looking at the shelves that attach to the hitch. Now that my sister has one of the walkers with the seat I will be more interested in getting one of those. The walker takes up a lot of room and we have to climb over it to get to the bathroom. If I could find one that fit my 3 wheel bike that would be nice. It's always a decision about how badly you want to bring something.

At this year's Chicago RV show I saw (from the outside) a Leprechaun that had 2 recliners. Went in to peek -they were very comfortable. Hope they still have something similar when / if I can ever retire & getting a C.
