Good morning. It's going to be a beautiful day here today so I plan to get outside and get some more clean up done in the yard. I spent yesterday with wheels under me...just not the ones I would have preferred! Made a very early morning run to Pittsburgh area with son to pick up a steel i-beam he needs for his new house. Got home and thought I could grab a quick nap but wasn't to be! Young son stopped for coffee and the phone kept ringing! So decided to take the pups with me to return some things to a couple of stores. It was cool and cloudy so figured they'd be okay in the car. Luckily I got my errands done before it started clearing and getting warmer. Crazy weather, depends on which side of the mountains you are as to what it's doing! Dropped the pups at home and continued with errands! Didn't get home until 8 pm so I slept good last night!

Sue, I definitely have hitch itch! I really wanted to join Carolb on Skyline, it's in my bucket but have several appointments scheduled this week and changing them just pushes them out to deal with later. Thanks for the invite to join you! But although it's a beautiful area I really want to stay on this side of the country. I've spent a good part of my life in the west but the east side has so many new adventures awaiting! I'm loving Liz's blog as she comes up from the south. Barbie, hope you can get the kayak out today! Kathy, hate to hear what a rough time you're having. Hang in there.

Well, time to get going here and decide what to get into first! Have a good day and be stay safe if you are on the road today.

I did the Skyline and part of the Blue Ridge coming back from New Jersey. My plan was to stay on the Blue Ridge all the way to Asheville and tour the Biltmore. By the time I got to Roanoke I had enough of the up and down and up and down. There are just so many hazy blue valleys I can take. That was my first and only experience of boon docking. I was so bored I finally found an old battery radio in one of my cabinets. It would be better with someone else and being able to take your time.

Last night we were under a storm warning for a long time. We got a lot more rain but I don't see any wind damage here. Our electric only blinked a couple of times. It looks like the rain has move just East of us but there is more in the Gulf.

I put the Hummingbird feeder up yesterday. It only took about an hour for them to find it. There are three that are coming to it. That's what we had last year. I wonder if it's the same birds. The most I ever saw last year was 6 one day. We use to have a lot more birds coming to the feeder.

I better get moving if I'm going to town before it starts raining again.

Going to be a quiet day today, with some work to be done and possibly some baking of bread. I need a rest after two days of heavy driving--one day 310 miles and the next 280 (including going around Atlanta in rush hour). But the good news is that I made it safely to Lake Lanier in northeastern GA. There are a couple of COE campgrounds here and both have terrific views of the big lake or one of its arms. I am at Bald Ridge Creek and will move to Old Federal at the end of next week. Rates are $20 on weekdays and $30 on weekends, but with the 50% senior discount, it ends up really being reasonable for water and electric hookups with a view! Not too far from stores and such, either.

Rain yesterday and supposed to be rain most of today and tonight, and probably tomorrow, but clearing later in the week. I can handle that, especially since the temps are in the low 70s instead of the high 80s as they were in Florida. I just do NOT do well in heat!

Hope all of you suffering from the dreaded hitch-itch are able to get on the road soon.

Martha, seems to me I remember you not liking that route. It's one of my favorite drives - have done the entire length and will again. Love, love love that drive. So scenic and beautiful. Nice thing we all like different things, eh?

Slept in this morning. Now getting ready to head back to the store and do more cleaning. Although, I have to admit, I spent most of yesterday on the computer looking at what sold/didn't sell last year, etc. Then came home and reworked the schedules for most of the summer. I was cross-eyed and couldn't sleep when I finished that lol - and just pulled one up and made some more changes. I know the owners would like me to cut back hours more than I am ... and if sales don't justify it, will have to - but hoping to keep them as I just finished them ... at least through the summer. We shall see.

Saw 9 deer in our area yesterday when I walked Peaches. Have been seeing 3-4 at a time ... but this time counted at least 9. Haven't seen any of the marmot that hung around last year yet, though. One beautiful bluebird keeps an eye on me when I walk Peaches mornings. Hazy and drizzling this morning so couldn't pick out the type of hawk that flew over and watched us for a bit.

And, of course, I'm back talking to the "heads".

Good morning everyone!

Skyline drive sounds great - but hey, that includes mountains & curves, doesn't it. Bet it's beautiful though - enjoy.

Well, I've done it - Unbound is officiailly looking for a new IT Director! :D I am loading development tools on a new laptop in prep for my new position as a developer. Woohoo!!! Going back to what I love, working on a system I helped design. Just need to come up to speed on the new language & I can start having some real fun. The best part is they will let me work remotely when I go out to help with the new grand baby in CA. If that goes well, I may be able to do it more frequently - like on the road, in my travelin' van, at GTGs... At least I don't have to retire just yet & won't carry the responsiblity of the entire computer infrastructre on my shoulders anymore. :D :D :D :D :D :D A special thanks to Tina for her encouragement on taking this route. Can't wait until we get someone hired - if any of you konw of someone just send them to https://www.unbound.org/BottomMenu/Employment#DIS.

Beth, sounds like you're getting deep into it as the summer approaches. Enjoy - especially the opportunity to see the sights in the area - as I recall last year, you posted some great pics. Looking forward to seeing more this year.

We're supposed to have a weekend of rain & thunderstorms. Good weather to get stuff done inside so I'd better get busy.

Take care,
Catherine

Catherine, that is wonderful news.

We've actually had most of a day without rain but moving back in this evening with another 1-2 inches forecast. Everything is so soggy but I must admit all the green is pretty and there are lots of spring things blooming.

Great news Catherine! Everything is falling into place for you perfectly!

Was sunny and warm today with a bit of a breeze. Checked out the lake this morning, but the beach area (ie, kayak launch site) was taken over by the guys putting the docks in, so that put the kabash on kayaking once again. Now clouds and rain storms are rolling in. Will be rainy and cool the next few days.

Got a few things done today but haven't felt very energetic today. Did finally set up my new TV. The huge TV (49") I got from Steve hasn't been working very well and is way too big for the studio I will (someday) move into. It also weighs a ton, so will be glad to give that back to him. This new one is 32" so a perfect size and very lightweight. Got a good deal on it too.

Have a good evening!

Catherine....smiling here..... :) Though getting credit is heavy....that means maybe I could be blamed for something. But you can pass your experience forward and remind other folks, to think creatively and imagine possibilities and try. Sometimes it works! :)

So glad that you get the freedom to continue working with an organization you love and doing work that fascinates you.....in a time frame and level of responsibility that works for both of you.
