I recently got active on Facebook and it is nice to connect with more people on there, but it is less personal and not really conversations like there are on here. I like that we get to know each other on here a lot more personally and know the women who are responding, where as on FB, there are people that I don't know who post responses to things my friends/coworkers post. FB is more like being at a large party where you know some people but not all, and the conversations are pretty superficial. Here is more like a small gathering of close friends that can talk more in depth about things we all have in common.

I believe in not throwing the baby out with the bathwater, so to speak. If someone says something that I find unkind or offensive (which rarely happens, but has on occasion) I am not going to abandon all the rest of the group just because of that one person. That just isn't right to me. I value so many of you on here and won't let one or two disagreements/misunderstandings get in the way of that.

It does get busy on here with new people joining all the time (which is a good thing!), but I pretty much pick and choose the threads that interest me and ignore other threads that don't. Sometimes, when I am very busy with life and can't get on here as often as I like, I just focus on the Morning Coffee and Campfire threads only, and can usually get caught up on what a lot of you are doing just by reading those two. I know others of you do that too.

So Soos, if you read this, why not just check the Morning Coffee thread when you can and only post on there. That way we can find out what you are up to and you can find out what many of us are doing, and you won't feel so overwhelmed. As far as posting photos, you don't need to do that if you don't want to. Not a big deal. I rarely post photos on here either because it does take time to go thru photobucket. I really hope you will reconsider...and anyone else who has left this wonderful forum.

Agreed! I do it the same way - just click on "New Messages" and anything new pops up. Probably I miss some stuff by doing it this way, but it is a simple way to keep up.

I am not a Facebook fan, for a great many reasons. Whatever you put there - photos, stories, whatever - becomes the property of Facebook. I could go on for a bit, there are lots of other sneaky things they do (be sure to read the fine print there whenever you sign up for something!) but I just don't "do" Facebook.

I do both this forum and FB for many different reasons... I totally get what Barbie says friendships are much easier here...but also agree
posting pictures is easier on FB I've never figured out how to do it on here...and here I had "experts" at the gtg and totally forgot to get
a tutorial for posting pictures...it would be fun to do the picture and the little 'thought' many of you have with your name...I too miss many
no longer here miss that friendship yes it happens but none the less I miss them...when I come on I look at the date on each forum if its today's
date I'll read it sometimes it's a scan but usually take a peek...some I'm still lurking like on MC sense it's night time when I come on rarely post but read it to get caught up....
Thank you Beth

Good Morning again to all!

I will try to stop by here now and then, but will never try to post any pictures again! I know how to do it, but have no patience for it whatsoever! I used to love the campfire room on here until it got so huge I couldn't keep up any more. I used to also start the morning coffee room when I was still working and had to get up at 4:30 to feed the fire, bring in firewood, feed my dogs and take them out, get dressed, and head off to school. Now I am able to sleep until 8:00 since I have retired from teaching!

I guess I will just keep adding stuff to this very post when I stop by. I can't find where to see which posts I haven't read as some have suggested. When I open things up in here, all things are red, meaning I haven't read tons of them!

I am about to begin being the nanny for my newest grandchild, Brooke Aspen Lavigne, whose mom will have to go back to work on April 6th----next Monday. So, at that time, I will be living in St. Cloud and caring for her 5 days a week and sleeping in my trailer which is parked there on their property. I hope to get back here to Orlando on the weekends to finish up doing some things I intend to try to get done here before I head back north in a couple of months----depending on the weather after May 6th, when Brooke will be eligible to begin day care near her house. In St. Cloud, I will be using my Verizon WiFi card thingy, and it is much slower than this connection here at the house. BUT, I will try to keep up with both Facebook and this now and then.

And I guess that's about it for now. Thanks for missing me, and I have missed many of you, too. For those of you I don't know at all, maybe we will meet some day down the roads at some GTG. I met one girl this winter at Hardee Lakes who parked near me, was alone, and I thought she was just a stranger traveling alone. I invited her to our GTG supper that night, come to find out she was someone from on here who had deliberately gone there to find us! I felt pretty silly when I guess all the other ladies had known she was coming! Oh well....she has a beautiful greyhound rescue dog and we went on some neat hikes around the lakes. My brain has a real problem with remembering names, and without trying to find her on here, I am ashamed to say I cannot remember either her name or her beautiful dog's name! Somebody will let me know, I am sure.

Hope you all have a good day doing something fun.

(Now I have to try to select this all and copy it so when I hit submit and it disappears into someplace unknown, I can paste it instead of swearing, banging on this desk, throwing a royal fit, and leaving in a huff! Just another time-consuming step when trying to make sure my posts don't fly away.)

Happy travels!

Because you haven't been on for awhile - you have almost all posts unread. Go to the top right of the board on the main page, and look for where it says "Mark Forums Read". If you click that it will mark ALL posts read, and the next time you come back and you can easily find only the new posts.
