I'm here! Finally was able to turn off the AC because a cold front went through yesterday, which I am really happy about because the upper 80s and lower 90s are gone for a week or so. It has been sweltering HOT here!
Last night was blissfully chilly--down to 57 outside and cool enough inside that I slept almost all night, which is amazing with me. I like to cuddly up under covers, which I was finally able to do last night. There was heavy rain and strong winds yesterday afternoon, just about the time I was out getting my RV washed at Blue Beacon. At least I had the Rain-Ex treatment, so it is still pretty clean. Total of $46 is a real bargain.
Sue, it is even worse than planning for next winter. I am planning for the winter after that! Next winter will be in California, Nevada, and Arizona, with my California kids, and I have really made no reservations out there for then. But because it has been so crowded here in Florida this winter, I thought that maybe in fall 2016, I would come to Florida in early October so I could get some state park reservations in the Keys when it was not so packed and possibly wetter so there would be more birds. It was very dry in the Everglades this winter so bird were not hanging around their usual places. I might head back to California in January or February 2017.
And Beth, I do occasionally change my plans, but I do so much research ahead of time (which I enjoy doing) that I am usually pretty sure where I want to go and what I want to see ahead of time. It has been great being able to get these three COE lock and dam campground sites this year, but they only open six months ahead of time. They are well worth the effort because they are cheap, very well maintained, and there is always something interesting to watch going by on the river. (Check out my posting in the recommendation area.) On the other hand, I have no reservations at all after my trip to New England this summer and the Canadian Maritimes this fall. I will pretty much wing it back to California for Christmas because it will be easy to get campsites in late October through whenever. Probably will make reservations for January or February in Arizona, however, because that is high season there.
Got a loaf of bread rising and almost ready to go into the oven. Going to take it with me as a gift when my cousin picks me up in an hour or so. I am headed over to see their new house and do some laundry and printing.
Have a good day, everyone! I will be enjoying the first cool and non-sticky weather in a month. Got my windows open right now for the cool breeze.
