Cool by late Thur afternoon, we needed a fire for our pot luck. No photo of Tina's car loaded down but did catch Carolyn and Diana bring some in (rangers told us we could gather whatever fallen wood we could find)

For those of you not on Facebook:
Vicki and Dave gave away one of their Dutch Ovens in a drawing, and I was the lucky winner. Today was the day to try it out. I made New England Indian Pudding...a traditional custard-like dish made with milk, egg, corn meal, molasses and spices...and baked low and slow. And it rained and rained for the occasion, lol.

All the ingredients assembled...so far, so good,

Scald milk, and molasses and corn meal, cook until it thickens, then add remaining ingredients.

Hard to get coals started in gusty wind.

Ready to bake!

And then the rains came! Donna and Carolyn came prepared.

Thanks to everyone for joining Dave and me along with our dutch oven friends. It's been great fun. Maybe we'll get to do it again sometime. In addition to eating great food you also get to make new friends

Next time I'll try to work with the chamber of commerce on the weather!
