Monday Again

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday Again

Postby Colliemom » Mon Feb 23, 2015 7:18 am

Good Morning,

Looks like Molly and I are the early birds again, although, now that she accomplished her morning routine, she went back to bed   She's cutting her new teeth, has 8 so far, so is sleeping a lot, not interested in toys etc. right now and I think getting winter weary, but she doesn't know about spring yet either.

Frigid morning here again. Another -32, but temps are all over the board up here with some below and some along the lakeshore above.

Washing day here today. Haven't bought a new washer as yet, so will go to town as have a couple of errands to run. Plan to look for a new one this week but wil wait til this really deep cold is gone. Don't want to have to keep doors open while washers are brought in and out in this cold.

Pat, like the calving picture. Hope all's been going well. Cheryl, sounds like you are finding a few possibilities. Don't let those sales people tell you what you want. Only you know what you want. As to dinette windows, you can have neighbors on all sides, so that's a mute point. One word of advice when looking at TT's with slides. Make sure you can acces kitchen, bathroom etc. when slide is in as there may be times when you can't or don't' want to open it. That's what I liked about my Mini Lite. I could go both ways. So be sure to look and see how far that slide comes in when it's not out. Wish I were closer, I could go with you and point out some things. Sportsman is made by KZ which is in Shipshewana. My dealer stocks Summerland, sportsman etc.. Want to come up here, hahaha.

Okay, time to quit jabbering. You all have a nice day out there :)

Schools and government offices are closed today in central and north Louisiana because of the freezing rain and snow coming from Texas. I'm sure the northern states with feet of snow really feel for us. I don't think we will get down to freezing this far south.

I have been waking up at 4 or 5:00 for the last few days. That is getting old. I seldom go to bed before 1:00 in the morning so that's not much sleep. I need to go talk to the people that put in the sewer systems but I don't feel like going to town.

Good morning! Another cold but sunny day! At least the sun is out now but who knows about later! I'll enjoy this for now...from inside! It was warmer yesterday, I think it got up to about 28 so it was a balmy day to get out and shovel off the 2-3 inches of snow from the day and night before. I shoveled the front driveway and sidewalk and then later decided to pull out the snowblower and worked on the back driveway. I got down a couple of layers of snow but then there was ice so guess that'll have to melt at some point! But all in all it was nice being outside! And while I was out the dogs had a good time romping around! And I managed to find all the toys Rascal left out or at least I think I did! So now I have a collection of soggy toys to dry out! Martha, welcome to my world! Hope you stay warm today. At this point I'm thinking a South Pacific island!

Cheryl, your head must be spinning with all the possibilities! But as it was said to me you'll know it when you see it! Pat, enjoyed the calfing picture. Makes me remember when my grandpa had a dairy herd and my grandmother didn't want my sister and I watching the birthing. It wasn't suitable for girls to see that according to her! We still managed to watch despite her! And her sister in law referred to bulls as gentlemen cows! We still giggle over that one!!

Well, time for more coffee and decide what I want to do today. Stay safe and warm today. And those of you in the warmth, don't forget the sunscreen!

G'morning Sue, Martha and all to follow:)

Watched the sunrise over WM....with the needy neighbor returning, I decided Ava didn't need other distractions ;)

Wow, Catherine, you'll finally retire? I hope so, especially since you have a great reason to do so! Donna/ryegal, such exciting news for you and Peggy! You'll definitely need to visit me since you'll be in my area this summer:) Anita, you're more gracious than me to let L drive your SS when he gets licensed;)

Beth, I'll be seeing you around the 15th or so. Do I need to make a reservation? It'll be during the week so I hope there will be a spot for me. Martha, my plans are to drive the TX coast, so a stop at your place is a possibility if you're available late March.

...Y'all have a great day!..O'Sharon snuck in before me--just loving that snow, eh?

CarolB, I don't have anything planned until about April 4 or 5. I am going to meet the Pink Flamingoes in Conroe, North of Houston for the week. You are welcome to camp in my driveway. If you come across South Louisiana on Hwy 82 I am only about a mile South of 82 when you get South of Abbeville. I have 30amp and plenty of room. You can join us in Conroe if you come through at that time. I'll PM you my address so you can see where we live.

Good Morning,

It wasn't in the forecast, but Lyn's rain arrived during the night! We got in a short RZR ride after L got here yesterday, but I think today's plans have been 'washed out'! The fun part now is finding our way back to the truck as he forgot to bring his GPS which shows the trail you just rode.

O'Sharon, funny about 'gentlemen cows'! We raised greyhounds for my uncles and I remember walking in after/during a birthing - only know I wasn't 10 yet. I figured I wasn't suppose to see that so obviously some ideas had been planted in my head. Cheryl, when I bought my 5th wheel, I knew what brand I wanted, but when late DH and I bought one, I remember looking at many!! Snow and freezing in the South - my goodness!! Carolb, that was a bit tongue in cheek as L will never get a motorcycle endorsement! :D That excuse is keeping a lot of people out of the driver's seat!

At the casino a mom and young son stopped by so he could look at the SS. I offered to let him sit in it but it took a little persuasion from mom that it was okay. He climbed in and out several times while we visited. :) A man came the other morning and asked to sit in it while I took his picture. Knew I should have charged for pictures!!

Have a good day all and stay warm!!

Good Morning, Cold here too, wind advisory for most of morning. Mitzi is racing from one end of the house to another since the ice on top of the snow hurts her feet. Doesn't stop her from wanting out though, then a fight to get her inside. Several big branches fell off the pine trees last night, some on the fence but DH was able to pull the fence back up. Of course the limbs fell in the neighbors yard so called the guy to come as soon as weather gets a little less intense. A friend who lives way out in the country and then about a mile off the 'hard' road said their power went out this morning and they are almost out of wood for the fireplace. They have a Land Rover so should be able to get out but they have several animals to care for so I'm worried about her and also hoping our power stays on. It is supposed to warm up tomorrow above freezing!!!
I'm having a good laugh at the "gentlemen cows" expression. We used to be sooo naive. I was 7 and my brother 9 when Mom had our brother. Neither of us knew of the impending arrival, plus he was born at home in our very small house and Daddy had to wake us up to see the 'early surprise that Santa brought". It is sure a different world now!
I'm staying in pretty much today, too cold and too much ice out there. I am going to have to do something productive to keep cabin fever at bay, that or just stay on the computer all day.
Anita, I think you need to get business cards and start charging for those pictures!

BJ, I was 9 when my brother was born. I was certainly aware of his impending arrival, but it never dawned on me to ask how he got there! Yep, some of us were naive.

good morning ladies :D
needy neighbor is no longer, the camper has left the station and jeep to follow in two weeks. He got worried about the storm that didn't happen and decided to get back to his dad as soon as possible. I'll take the jeep and cargo trailer up during spring break and Carolb will
house sit Maggie.
We didn't get the rain that was predicted but the day isn't over yet. In the meantime, I'm gonna get a nap. Ya'll have a great day and be safe.

Leaving McIntosh in an hour or two and heading to the RV shop......."solar" whispers Stuart...."it is all about the solar"..... :) Stuart wants to be sure he has expanded options for his late spring and summer travels. And he doesn't want to be a nuisance to his neighbors...unless she will give him cookies, in which case he doesn't care.... :o

Carolb, if you want to guarantee you have a site, you will want to make reservations. We are filling up almost every day - and some days very early. But there is usually a spot or two available - and you'll fit in any of them. That helps. I also can give you spots to boondock in outside the NM ... but depends how many get there first. One is real close, but not room for lots - the other is a few miles down washboard roads.
