Since the post asking about Vickie is locked I will reply here because it appears to continue the original post.
At the beginning of January I messaged Vickie on Facebook to check on her since she hasn’t posted in a long time and I missed her. She replied that she had a rough year and was just distancing herself from the Forum and Facebook for several personal reasons for a while. Let’s respect that and hope that she comes back when she’s ready....that goes for Mitch too.
Now I’m going to address what I see as a problem. I’m not a regular poster because I live a rather boring life and really don’t want to submit all of you to my every day grind. I do read the forum every day. However I can’t help but notice that many long-time members are posting very seldom or at all anymore. Maybe the problem is more of us tend to go to Facebook because a simple “like” can let the poster know that we read and appreciate whatever was posted. It is instant gratification. But I do feel that some members on this forum have been unduly chastised for their posts. I felt that way once when I posted a joke and someone was offended because of their past experience and took it personally. I had no intention of stepping on toes. I won’t say that on several occasions that I haven’t wanted to tell someone to “cowgirl up” “put on your big girl panties” “can’t you find something more important to get your briefs in a knot?” But really what good would it do? Maybe we should be more like Thumper in Bambi….”If you can’t say something nice don’t say nothing at all”
This forum was founded because of misunderstandings on another forum and it’s been quite active for about seven years. I’ve met some fantastic women because of it. I would hate to see the stereotype that a bunch of women can’t be together without a cat fighting be the demise of this forum. One bad thing about forum posts is that a person’s inflection cannot be determined by the written word…most of the time. I personally would strike back when I feel that a friend or I is being attacked. I think the majority of people will. I have a saying posted in my shop “10% of misunderstandings are caused by what was said and 90% because of how it was said” She says as she steps off her soap box.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.
