Beth introduced me to the packets of Bear Creek soups. They make a 1/2 gallon. You just need 8 cups of boiling water. Out favorites are Tortilla Soup and Creamy Potato. This week we really needed that hot soup.

Any fudge left? I want some to go with the popcorn I brought to pop over the fire. Remember the foil wrapped pan you'd shake over a fire until it expanded with popped corn? Stand back.

Actually, I remember the little screen baskets on long sticks that you put kernels in and shook over an open fire! When I was little, we used our basket over our living room fireplace fires all the time. Maybe that's why I don't like popcorn any more?? Much of it got burned while the rest was popping back in those days! But that melted butter (or, during the WAR, colored margerine) over the top was able to overcome the unpleasant burny taste! Sigh....that was such a long time ago, eh?

More firewood logs and a bit more kindling here to keep the homefires burning. I stacked them not too close, so you might have to look into the darkness to find them. Happy Sunday!

I have no idea how many bottles are left on the wall but I just grabbed a couple and I'm going to chill by the fire for a while and watch the flames dance around and listen to the owls in the distance!! I threw on some logs and the fire is blazing good. I'm looking for that fudge-----I need some chocolate!!! My sis found out yesterday she has vaginal cancer and begins treatment either tomorrow or Monday. They mark her tomorrow so don't know what will happen. Her foot is healing good but she still can't walk on it---another two weeks he said today then they will fit her for orthodics and a special shoe. The fire is just the thing tonight to relax before I head to bed. Just grabbed another one----you keeping track Lori???

ahhh, a nice fire to sit by, not much on tv so here I am. Such a fussy day at work
today, had one of my friends approach me today and asked me about a layoff.
Everybody is on edge. We have 8 lead drivers at work, me being one of them,
and wednesday was the monthly lead drivers meeting. We discuss things with
management and take it back to the drivers. My friend said one of the other
lead drivers told him the layoff was talked about, which simply is not true. So
now, cause someone lied, everyone is in an uproar and the head boss has called
a special question answer time at work. This other lead driver, the one that
lied is the same one that lied and told stories as a witness at the time of my
little incident a while back, remember that little incident I had? I had to call
one of the other lead drivers and verify that indeed we DID NOT discuss a
layoff, I was beginning to think I spent a moment day dreaming instead of listening
and missed something very important but I was right, a layoff was not discussed.
I didn't think I had day dreamed. What a day! I certainly hope the supervisor has
words with that other lead driver, perhaps she will be stripped of her lead driver
duties for stirring trouble. Ok, now that I have that stress off my mind I can go
to bed now. Tossing a log on the fire and giving it a stir and I'm outta here.
My toes are toasty warm :P

Ava, that driver does not deserve to be a lead driver - stirring up trouble like that. Didn't like her back when she tried to cause you trouble, and now here she is stirring the pot again. Some people just like to do that - and it's not fun. Glad you got it off your chest.

Enjoying the colors the campfire is spewing out tonight. Golng to relax with it for a bit and head to bed. I had a great time visiting tonight with Carol and Bill (and Sparkle and Karen and Carole) Geez, I'm so lucky with all the forum friends I've been blessed to meet. I think Bill took a pic of us tonight. Hope so and that Carol posts it.

Fernie...so sorry to read the news about your sister. Seems as if her life had enough trouble without this latest problem. I'll send some strength your way and her way, and hope for a complete healing for her.

I'll stoke up the fire, bring some more wood, and sit for a while to get warmed up. Wish I could sit around a real fire with all of you fine women, sing some songs, drink some beers, and chat the night through. Maybe I will sit around a real fire tonight out on my deck with Molly....not too cold, not too hot----great fire weather. Molly's body warmth and soft fur are wonderful, but her conversation just hasn't improved much over the years!

Nasoosie, you know darn well Molly speaks perfectly...you just can't understand all of her language!

Since we moved south from Chicago 'burbs to Tennessee, somehow our place has become known to all our Yankee visitors as The Blue Marlin Resort & Lounge. I supposed it's because of the good food, better drink, swimming, fishing, 4-wheeling, and best of all - RELAXING! Oh, and the price is right - ZERO, nada, zilch! I actually had plates and cups and t-shirts made with our 'logo'.

Anyway, we have a full 'staff' at The Blue Marlin - and if I didn't speak at least some of the staff's language, they wouldn't be very successful in their following positions: Bouncer (at the lounge - NOT that we ever have any problems in the lounge, but you never know...), Head Bartender (again - at the lounge) and Head Sous Chef (The Blue Marlin main restaurant). So, I KNOW Molly's conversation must be delightful (along with sloppy puppy kissies and warm, furry snuggles)!

I hope you all are enjoying your Friday evening. In the few days since I've been a member here, I have been astounded by your warmth and welcoming! What a great place, eh? :)

Michelle, I LOVE those pics. So cute. And, yep, they understand almost everything we say, and they try to talk to us and we are always guessing. Wonder who is really the smarter?

How shameful of me to criticize Molly's conversation! Of course she talks to me! Perhaps it's her singing around the fire capabilities that need some improvement! Of course, if the coyotes cooperate and begin a howling, she joins right in and so do I, and then we share a singing fest!

I LOVE your pics of your 'staff!!' What a cute idea! I'd love to visit your Blue Marlin Lounge some day!

Thanks for the pics!! (Molly says 'HI' to your staff, too!)

The Staff says 'Hey' back to Molly. And you and Molly feel free to visit The Blue Marlin any ol' time you wish. It's better in 'the Season' because the pool's open and we hire a maid during that period...

hmmmmmm...now where does one find lessons to help turn Molly into a real Canine Caruso????
