Generator puzzle solved

You may recall I posted around the first of year that after never having any problems with it my generator suddenly would not start. I wasn't able to get anyone to check it out before leaving home.
Cummings dealer in Ocala got to it this afternoon. Took a little trouble shooting but the problem was not at all with the generator. Turns out I have a bad battery cable and the generator was not getting enough power to turn over (only 4 v reaching it). He by passed the cable with jumpers and generator started right up. So tomorrow I will get new battery cables.
I had been concerned that I might have caused a problem with gas stabilizer I had added last fall. So happy to learn I had not made a dumb mistake and the the problem wasn't anything serious. Strange of all the research I tried to do on line, not one article mentioned checking to see if generator was getting proper power from batteries.

I am guessing that was a LOT cheaper than having to buy a new generator. Those things are expensive!

Nice ending to this story.

We did suggest you might not be getting enough power - suggesting you start the engine - but nope, didn't think that if the cables were bad, that wouldn't matter either! We all learned!

Sarah, that might be a warranty part. Who'd a thunk the cables on a new rig.

Which says maybe you should have someone check your furnace and and air ducts. My Class C was not putting out much cold air over the dinette and when they checked it, found big styrofoam pice in the duct blocking it.

Sometimes my furnace (in my Class A) kicks on but the air is not warmed. Turn the thermostat off for 5 minutes, then back on and I get warm air! Go figure...well repair place will shortly.

But if I had full hookups I would have the electric heater on!
