Totally agree, Tina!

For everyone who knows I can talk too much - it's next to impossible to get a word in with this guy. So I mostly just let him ramble on and on.

We stopped in the Visitor's Center a bit ago and he told one of the Ranger's that he will continue to do the morning site checks and putting reserved signs out during my days this week and I stopped him cold. So, no thank you, but I need to do MY job. I promise I'll ask for help if I need it, but I will do it myself. First time I saw him tongue-tied.

Then he told me I didn't need to go with him on a shuttle run with campers going on ride to a hiking trail. I said, but I do, as I need to know where to go when I do it. He said that I wouldn't be doing it. Well, sorry, my paperwork says I might be. I went along. Then the Ranger told me I don't HAVE to do them. I made the decision that we will let the office handle them on my days unless they are short-handed or need help for any reason. She specified that we are here to handle the CAMPGROUND. So I asked him after why he does them every time he works - and it's because he wants to ... which is also why he starts earlier than our hours dictate.

I'll be just fine ... he's being trained more than me, I do believe.

Beth, I know you well enough to know you can handle this guy. You may even teach him a few things he didn't know!

:D

Velda, He's just being macho man - then I asked him just a minute ago about who we give our counts, etc to and he said "What counts?" - I replied, the ones on my duty list to take daily and report. He's never done them. I'll start doing them and they can decide whether or not they want them lol

He's now told me I don't have to shadow him anymore today - BUT - he still plans to pretty much shadow me all week. Let him - but dare him to do my job.

BTW, Velda, I'm laughing about the whole thing. I really don't think he means to come off as he does. Then again, maybe he does - but I'm going to have a great time - his choice whether he wants to have a good time, too.

Sounds like this guy needs a real hobby. He apparently needs to be busy and feel important.

Sounds like you are handling it all well.

No tv while I'm here - thus no need to even think about football. Although I do know I could probably get it online somewhere. I have no real preference in this game, but if I were watching I'd root for Seattle just for my friends here who want them, I think.

Just came from another walk through the cg. Did take my camera this time - spent forever trying to get a good shot of an acorn woodpecker (along with some campers here) and he just was not cooperating. He was sitting plain as day in the tree, but we had to look up and he wouldn't show his head. I think I finally got some good pics. What was fun was that he was up there preening and just a couple branches down was a jay preening. I've been saying they are Western Scrub Jay but my supervisor just told me most in the cg are probably Mexican jays. Except the Stellars which I have no problem recognizing, but who haven't been willing to pose unless I don't have the camera. Some birds this morning I'm not sure what were and didn't have the camera. Got some good shots of some others this afternoon... I think ... need to take them off the camera.

I can understand porch lights, but why do the owners of some big 5th wheelers or motorhomes feel it is appropriate to use big spot lights that face straight out and light up the entire area???

Got one across the roadway facing me. Luckily, I have blackout drapes in front. Had same problem next to me a few weeks ago except this was a spotlight on the non-door side of a fifth wheel. Did they think someone might break in on that side? I would not mind them if they faced down, but these are aimed straight out at other campers. Reminds me of the sound systems they put on these things on the outside. I have one I have never used because I figure my neighbors do not need my music. :)

OK. Enough of a rant. Weather is good and am at Jonathan Dickinson near Jupiter. Going for a bike ride tomorrow. Was enjoying the noisy boat-tailed grackles. Must be mating season because they were really making a terrible racket cheeping at each other.

Judy, that's a good rant - because I agree with every word of it!

And now I'll rant about the idiot camphost I'm sharing this place with. I was actually liking him better. Even when he'd try to check on me in strange, unnecessary ways. I accepted that as him trying to be helpful and not just macho. But a few minutes ago I stopped by his place to let him know a couple things (he goes on duty tomorrow/me off) and where ever I've worked you let the next shift know of things that might be out-of-the-ordinary. There were a couple things and he managed to tell me I didn't need to tell him - he can figure things out. Like he'd be able to figure out that the people from Switzerland paid for two nights, when we don't know if their site is available for tomorrow and they might have to move and I told them he'd stop by and leave a note on their door since they wanted to sleep in - letting them know if they could stay or had to move. He then told me he would NOT leave a note - he'd see them. I said he was driving the shuttle and they didn't want to be disturbed before 9 - he said he wouldn't go by till 11. I tried to say that while they didn't want to be disturbed before 9, they don't want to then sit and wait on him, when he'll know when he gets up. Geez. He can't write yes or no and leave a note on their door? Or how about I was telling him about the sites that took one night then went to the visitors center and made reservations through the online system for more nights. This is good to know because you don't know the names of the people in the sites - therefore when it comes up by name on the reservation system in the morning - he will not know it's the same people. He again told me, he's been doing this long enough and can figure these things out. I said, yep, you can, but isn't it easier to know it ahead of time. Like this morning I had 5 sites like that - I was able to switch reservation cards on my first morning walk, and be done with thinking about those sites.

Ah, his loss - but while I'm ranting, I just decided that I won't bother taking the time on our switchover day to keep this info for him. He can wing it. And then come complain that I should have told him.

He also heard me talking to a couple that got bad information on available campsites from the visitors center. They were good, I knew what I needed to tell my supervisor. But he just told me he went in and told the employees in the VC just what they did wrong and what they should do. That's not his job. Bet they don't care for him, either.

OK, my rant is done. One more walk through the cg in about an hour or so and I'm off 3 days. Several of the campers have asked if I want to go on hikes with them. Haven't decided yet - will play it by ear. Have to do laundry and probably go shopping, etc.

Good grief, Beth! Doesn't this guy know this isn't your first , second or tenth rodeo at workamping? Maybe he should take a look at your resume. I hope things calm down for you.

Maybe they hired you so they could phase him out. He must also be irritating the campers.

No, he'll still be here when I'm gone. I'm guessing he has the supervisors fooled. He's the first camphost since they went on reservation.gov instead of just first come, first serve. They think he knows it all. Ha. But I'll quietly talk to my supervisor. I love the camphosting itself and mostly all the campers are great. Which we know is mostly the case. I'll probably have less and less contact with him, and just have to figure out how to work around him on the one day we co-camphost.

I just keep singing "macho, macho, macho man" in my head lol.

On another note, I've been taking Peaches with me on all my walks through the campground, to the visitor center, etc and she's exhausted. She was in bed before my last walk, so I left her there and she didn't like that either. Silly girl.
