As far as costs. Liz did a trip to Washington State some years ago. She posted a very good daily list of her cost with an RV. I took those numbers and translated them into what it would costs you forthe same trip with a car staying in a motel. The costs were double what she spent. Plus she had her own bed every night.

As far as safety issues, a guy I met once told me he entered a motel after a long day's drive, climbed in the bed and woke up in ICU. Someone was hiding in the room and almost beat him to death with the back fo the toilet. As anywhere when in your RV practice safety measures. But I feel you are safer in your RV than motels, check out how many people are approached when entering their rooms and are robbed or seriously injured.

My son is extremely supportive in what I do, I have pros and cons from the rest of my very large family. But most simply are tied to sticks and bricks and can't imagine any other way of living. I enjoy what I do, I enjoy the freedom, I enjoy the people I meet and if I get lonely, step out your door and there are usually people to talk to, meet and enjoy their company, that part is up to you.

In a sticks and bricks home you have daily repairs, upkeep, insurance and many still have house payments and the lists goes on and on. I can clean my motorhome in 30 minutes or less. I don't mow the grass, clean the pool or worry about flower gardens. I now just enjoy those items around me.

Find what you want and go enjoy the life you select, it isn't up to anyone else to choose how you live your life, stay away from the negative and stick with the positive.

My daughter is very supportive of my adventures. She has even told me that when she gets to my age, she hopes to be able to do the things I am doing!

She and her husband even gave me as a gift a small pillow (of the kind you put on the couch) that has an image of a TT wearing a crown on it, with the words "Queen of the Road". Too cute!!

For last Christmas they gave me a very nice Garmin model (GPS)!

Now, let me tell you, that this is an item that I never thought I wanted and would never have purchased for myself (I worked for AAA for some years, and have always been in love with maps).

BUT!!! This thing is absolutely absolutely awesome. It totally proved its worth last year when I went to Mt. Mazama volcano (aka Crater Lake, in Oregon) and one of my dogs became ill on the trip. I needed to get home in the fastest possible way, so began entering various routes into the Garmin to get the number of hours the trip might take. The route the Garmin chose for me was one I would not have considered - I was thinking it would take me ten hours to get home, the Garmin said this route would take seven hours. I didn't believe it, and didn't really trust the Garmin - but took this route anyway. I was pulling into my driveway in about 7 hours and 15 minutes, thank you Garmin!

It really does mean a lot when one's children are so supportive. It makes a BIG difference.

As others have said, push on with your dreams!

LOL -- Love the comments
So glad I posted this, as it is so uplifting & interesting to read all the comments -
I am still looking for an RV and hope to find something before I have to go back to work in March or April.

I too like maps, I do have GPS in my car but when traveling I always plan my trips using a map  although I do use the GPS on occasion.
