It may or may not be interesting

Postby BirdbyBird » Sun Jan 11, 2015 10:07 am

Thought I would post this comparison between American Cocker Spaniels and English Cocker Spaniels and why I always clearify to folks that ask, that Stuart and Audrey are English Cockers. :)

Like I said it could be boring.... or not! You won't hurt Stuart's feelings!

Interesting read for me too.

Everytime I hear / read about cocker spaniels, I think of the Disney movie Lady & The Tramp where, I think it was the scottie, calling her a little cocker spanish girl (love that movie).

Reading that, I am guessing that my Cocker who we got in 1953 or 54 was an American Cocker. She was a tri color and came to us at about a year of age and I was 5 or 6 and she was with us until I turned 19 so I have always said I was raised by a cocker!

Is that huge difference in head shape typical?

For comformation/show quality American Cockers that conform to the standard, yes! For the Back yard Breeder's pet American Cocker, the difference may not be so dramatic.

enjoyed the read, it was a good comparison. My Cinder was American Cocker, 13" at the shoulder and her momma was
a runt at 12.5. Love the cocker spanials and the other spanial breeds too.

It's the difference between cute and regal. Stuart, as we know is regal.

Stuart says, "Gosh darn, thanks." and then he went back to looking out the front window for the cats that are lurking around the campground..... :? We have not be attacked by even one campground/neighborhood cat while he had been guarding the rig, so it must be working. :)
