I love the laundry facilities at Silver Springs SP….clean, efficient, and only $1.00 a load.

The Escapees Park I'm at now - laundry $1 to wash, 75 cents to dry. Love it.

OK, love that I can change plans on a dime. Wasn't sure if I'd even end up at Q  , but that should be happening on schedule. My friends that I spent Christmas with called and need help. Maurine can't stay alone (she's had a stroke which she has pretty much recovered from, but also has mobility problems, etc). Normally her husband is her care-taker, but now he's been hospitalized, and even if home, has been told he can't for now, resume that role. Maurine has moved in with her daughter, Pam, for now. Pam has a trip planned and even though she has gotten some assistance coming in, wasn't finding the help she needed - and that's where I come in. I did scrambling and the Escapee's park in Casa Grande is going to let me park in the boondock area for a week (at the normal boondocking rate) but leave the rig there. I had to find someplace where I would feel safe about leaving the rig - and not too terribly far. So, I'll be leaving Benson before my month is up Wed and dropping the rig off - then Peaches and I will head up to Phoenix and be caregivers for the week Pam is gone. Maurine is like a 2nd mother to me - so it'll be good to spend the time with her and it's so wonderful to have a lifestyle that allows me to do this.

Maurine and her husband are on a list to get into an assisted living facility - but so far, the space hasn't opened up, and that's the place they want to get into. Because Eddie could do more, they didn't find it important to get right in - ah, things change on a dime in all directions, eh? Hopefully that'll happen soon and then her visits to Pam's can be planned like Christmas was.

Then I'll head back to Casa Grande, get my home and probably go straight to Q - as they are pushing the rules to let me leave the rig unattended, so I'm not going to ask for them to push them further and extend my stay - although, you never know!

my car fits nicely in front of my fifthwheel and of course I can always squeeze it in next door

Hope you two can work something out with parking!

Wasn't busy at work today but everyone is back to work and school after the holidays and it is freaking cold out, so that made for a very quiet day. We changed our shop hours during the week from 9-9, to 8-8 now. Much better being able to leave at 8pm. Will be even better in the summer leaving before it gets dark out.

I am doing an on-line refresher course in order to get my license renewed. It is kind of a joke tho. The screen pages flip to the next one every 5 seconds so there is no time to read anything let alone remember any of it! Some of the print is too tiny to read anyways. Sure hope I remember enough from years past to pass any quizzes they have on there. Need to get my license renewed by the end of this month. This course requirement is new this year.

Talked to my dad's sister tonight. She is now in an assisted living place and is trying to sell her condo. I told her about my awesome real estate agent and told her I would try and get in touch with her to help my aunt. I did some looking on line to find her (haven't talked to her in many years) and found out she passed away from Cancer 4 years ago! That was so sad! She helped my buy and sell my condo back about 16 years ago.

Got a little dusting of snow tonight but nothing to worry about. Just covers up the yucky stuff (sand, salt, etc) from the last snowfall.

Have a good night! Out of cookie dough so no cookies tonight. :(

Too bad Barb you are not talking up Cambridge MN way as my son and DIL are a realty team and averaged a closing every six days in the past year.
Glad you get to go home a hour earlier with the cold and frozen roads. Stay safe.

I had the very worst day yesterday, a petsitters' nightmare that we all dread. First visit to a brand new client and I go in to find his dog caught in the cage and nearly dead. Despite my best efforts and those of his vets, the dog had to be euthanized. I came home sobbing my heart out and scared my best friend nearly to death when she called me and I couldn't talk for crying so hard. The clients were so kind, the wife met me at the vet's and hugged me; the husband called me later in the evening to say he was sorry I'd had to deal with that situation. They even wanted me to keep their check--no way could I. Tomorrow I will send back their keys and the check.
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

Kathy,
Big (((hugs))) to you. What a heartbreaking experience. Take comfort that you did all that could be done. I'm so sorry you had to go to new client to have this horrible situation occur.

That is so sad and unfortunate! Glad the owners were understanding about it.

I had a similar experience but on the other side of it. I went on vacation to Florida about 6 years ago and asked a friend of mine to pet sit for my two ferrets and cat. My cat was very sick (terminal) and took meds so I gave her all the instructions on what to do for him. I talked to her the night before I got home and she said everything was going well and he seemed to be feeling pretty good yet. When I got home, I found him dead on the bathroom floor. He was still warm so I knew he had just passed. I cried so hard because he was about the best cat I ever had. When my sitter called later that day, I told her what happened. She felt just horrible and blamed herself thinking she missed some signs. I told her she wasn't at fault at all and his body just finally gave out.
Anyways, things like this happen and unfortunately you were there when it did. But then, maybe it was fortunate you were there, so he didn't have to die there alone and in distress. I am sure he knew you were trying desperately to help him.

What a terrible experience. Try to take some comfort in knowing you did all you possibly could do under circumstances.
