Prep Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Prep Sunday

Postby Liz » Sun Jan 04, 2015 8:45 am

No one else offering up breakfast? I have apple juice, lime jello, black coffee, and chicken broth….help yourself, lol. Tomorrow is colonoscopy day. Glad it's only every ten years.

Off to church in a little while…before the prep begins. Looking forward to having Irmi play the piano for us again. Also expecting Tina to arrive in McIntosh later this afternoon. Hope the cold front coming this week doesn't interfere with our fun.

Hope everyone has a cleansing day. :D

Good morning, Liz, and all that follow...we made the move yesterday to Darien, GA and are settled in at our friends' back yard campsite for a couple of months....love it here along the salt marshes and coastal island of Sapelo.....Our friend, Andy, had his left knee replaced a week before Christmas and our assistance to transport him back and forth to rehab as his wife, Gwen, has to go back to her teaching job, was requested....so we'll earn our space this year....we don't mind cause that what friends do... ;)

Good luck with your prep, Liz, and the procedure tomorrow...

I've got cinnamon raisin muffins and fruit to add to the breakfast table...help yourselves...

Okay, better finish catching up here and get on with my day...

Morning LIz, Lori and all,

Good luck with the prep. Been there, done that, but actually not that bad. I too did the chicken broth thing and I actually think it' helps when taking that "stuff" as it's something in the tummy beforehand. Lori, was wondering where you guys were. Better batten down the hatches as storm front headed your way today. Nasty weather out there.

Glad to hear that Tina will be arriving today McIntosh seems like such a lovely little town. Maybe someday it will be a winter base for me too, who knows. Right now I am content here and no desire to leave winter as yet.About March, well.

Not much on agenda here today . Entertain Molly, watch some TV and work on Jigsaw puzzle. Winter Weather Advisory out to today into tomorrow a.m. and then the cold air hits. Funny how it can affect us in different parts of the country depending on where we live and what we are used to. mid 20 degree lows in the deep south is hard on your gals who live there where up here we consider that balmy. But tomorrow's high only around 5 above is COLD for here.

Yesterday it was in upper 20's almost to freezing mark so decided it would be a good day to take Molly to town with me as she hasn't been anywhere since we got home last weekend. Left her In truck while I ran into store for some groceries and then took her with me to Tractor Supply Store and one of our local pet shops. She thought that was pretty fun. Of course had to get the attention of folks inside. Plus learned what sliding doors are and also that parking lots are not quite as intimidating as she first thought. But they weren't that busy either. Too busy and I carry her. So she's adjusting to life. This morning she thought it was fun to unroll my paper towels when I left the cupboard door open under the sink for a few minutes Gotta try new things ya know.... But I'm fortunate that she isn't a destructive pup. Right now though I think her new teeth are starting to come in as she is trying to chew on anything, so gums are probably itching and whatnot.

Gonna wish you all a nice day and be off. Enjoy.

Plans for today include gassing up the car for the work week and just making sure little chores are done cause nothing will get done now for a whole week. ;) :P
Ya'll have a great day and be safe.

G'morning all:)

Fun day for you, Liz ;) Well, at least you get to see Irmi for church this morning, & Tina arriving soon!

So where in the heck have I been? Too cold in the mornings to do anything except try to keep warm  Then finally get dressed & head out for my day--so no computer time  Having a great time in Mesa with former neighbors, & even hung out with Ava yesterday for her "Denny's get-away"--thanks for including me:) Decided to try my poops at the dog parks here--they have such pack mentality, so I worry about that. But they've done really well! So we're making that at least a once-a-day outing, twice is our goal!!

Will try to be better at keeping up with everybody  In the meantime, y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

Good Morning,

Do I see a trend here? Liz's prep and Carolb's 'poop'. So many of us have recently done the 'C' thing - I think it depends on what they have you drink for prep. I didn't have to start all that until evening so didn't turn out to be a big deal. Good luck, Liz!

Ava and Carolb, glad you have had some visit time! Hoping Carolb is still speaking to me after I told her to leave Scout behind. :P I know what a softie she is!

Sure wish I was in McIntosh with all you gals that are there.

Evie, nice to see you post and glad you have been getting your rig ready to roll!

I went over to the 'old' park yesterday as there was somewhat of a memorial for one of the snowbirds that passed away in Colorado - a 62 yo woman. One of the men has a keyboard and offered to play. Very few of us showed up. After that LeRoy and I got into a discussion about the lack of good places to eat around here. We ended up driving to Blythe, California for barbeque!

Weather is to be a little warmer today and not too bad if you are in the sun. I'm taking the Slingshot, going to storage to find a couple things and do a little more organizing.

Have a good day everyone and safe travels. Stay warm and dry as well!

Good morning everyone,

Fun stuff happen' here... prep time & doggie parks "try-outs", running to Cali for BBQ , mini-gtgs & outings with Molly :D .

Sun is brightly shining here on our inch of snow - its 11 right now, we're hoping for 17 as the high. Don't have hopes of getting above freezing until next week sometime. I LOVE having a garage during winter. Went to mass last night & the temp actually went up to 43 while I was in there. Sadie & I enjoyed an evening walk in the midst that was starting before the big-freeze blew in. I'd love to be on one of those foggy/misty beaches I've seen pics of recently. :)

Not much is going on - just work stuff & staying warm. Thanks for the blogs - they are keeping dreams alive..
Take care,
Catherine

Liz…the word for today is BLOT...not wipe…blot. And very cushy TP! ;) And thanks but no thanks....I'll pass on breakfast!

It’s a balmy -6 with a feels like temp of -21 today. Guess I’m going to be staying home all day. Since I came home from work Friday I have left the house long enough to get the mail and some groceries. Tomorrow we’re supposed to get 3-5” inches of snow and of course I have a 3:00 appointment at the dentist to start the procedure on a crown. Hope I don’t have to cancel it. Have two that I want to get done before I retire and don’t have dental insurance anymore. Can only do one a year so if I get this one done now I can do the other one after the beginning of the fiscal year in July and hopefully be good to go for a few years.

Today I plan to take down the Christmas tree. I’m always the last person in the neighborhood to get it up and the last to take it down. But the Feast of the Epiphany isn’t until tomorrow so I’m still safe! That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Suppose I’d better get outside long enough to unplug the lights on the Nativity in the yard too. Will have to wait for a nicer day to bring it into the garage and put it away.

Good news is that youngest son applied for an RN position in the ICU at the hospital in Yankton and got the job. So he’ll be back in the area starting the beginning of February. Bad news is that he has a lease in Brookings until June and will have to pay rent on that apartment until then unless his roommate can find someone who she will accept for a roommate so he can sublease. It’s a college town and that shouldn’t be too difficult. But until he’s out of the lease he will probably be moving home again. Something that he really isn’t too fond of thinking about! But after spending his Christmas break at the farm with a 10 month old (who isn’t the best sleeper in the world) he has decided that mom and dad’s house is lesser of the two evils! Plus he is probably going to be on the night shift after his orientation and our house will be quieter for sleeping during the day. Now to find a place to store his furniture until he has his own place.

Nice to see that there are so many mini GTG taking place. Well better get to defrocking that tree.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

I am freezing here in Healdsburg! 29* for low and 50*for high. Thank heavens for the warm covers on the bed, and the cat to snuggle with.
SIL had port a cath put in Friday and chemo will begin Tuesday.
Pat, my nephew's son begins nurses training this month. Now that the salaries are decent it is a good profession for a male. Lots of different opportunities also.
Much sitting around for me.

It is -3* below with a -22* windchill! Not supposed to get much over zero all week. The wind was so strong last night, it sounded like a hurricane outside, with the howling sounds and rattling of the windows keeping me up. A little less windy today but still around 20+ mph, hence the wind chills.

I stayed home all day doing nothing productive.

Got my hair cut yesterday. Gave up on growing it out again. The perm was just too curly so got some of that cut off and will keep it on the shorter side now. Just so much easier to take care of.

Nothing much new with my dad. He seems to be doing pretty good but very unsteady on his feet and still a bit confused. He will be at the nursing home for awhile, while he goes thru physical and occupational therapy and cognitive assessments. Hopefully, he can stay there for a month or two, so we have some time to figure out what to do with him and the house.

Need to go find something for dinner now. Hope you are all finding ways to keep warm!

Barbie, is he in a nursing home or an extended care facility? I learned the hard way that all of a sudden an extended care facility will tell you your days are numbered and you have to find a nursing home or make other arrangements. We had, literally, about 48 hours. It's not easy to do in that time. So find out exactly what is covered and for how long where he is, so that if you have to make a decision, you have time to do so.

Weather is improving daily here in AZ - YAY!!!! And last I looked it should be good at Q.

Carolb - are you staying around Phoenix longer? I'll be staying and doing care-giving starting Wed night for a week in Phoenix. Would love to have you visit if you're still there. I won't have the rv with me, as I'll be moving in - and won't be quite as mobile, therefore, not going to try for much getting out, but on the weekend if you and Ava are available could maybe meet somewhere. Not promising that, but I can have guests ... so let me know.

He is in a nursing home and between Medicare and his other insurance, he is fully covered for 100 days.

Just had a very strange phone conversation with my dad. He thinks he is at a health club or hotel. He can't figure out why people know his name and keep bringing him food. I called the nurse there and they are going to see if maybe he has a UTI (from the catheter) that might be causing his confusion. He isn't on any meds now that would cause that.
