Sad Day

Postby Bethers » Fri Nov 28, 2014 1:34 pm

I didn't want to put a crimp into the morning coffee post.

Originally I was high-tailing it to Arizona and planned to go straight to the Phoenix area. There I'd spend Thanksgiving with some family friends, but mostly because my friend Ted was in Mayo there battling a very difficult disease. Shortly after leaving SD, his wife, my good friend Sue, let me know that nothing more was working medically and the doctors were releasing him and they'd head to their beloved home in the mountains of Colorado. Hospice care was going to be helping and their son, his wife and child would be flying to meet them there. Then, the family I was intending to spend time with also had to back out, but we'll reschedule. So I came straight to Tucson.

Every morning, the first thing I do if I have a signal is check messages. One was here this morning from Sue. Ted had left us only a couple hours previous. Ted and Sue were/are very special people in my life. He fought a long, hard battle. And now, while I know he's at peace, I simply am devastated for Sue who lost her very best friend. I'm so glad he got to be home with family for the end.

So, I'm here with a wish. It may be the day after Thanksgiving, but please, I have this wish for all of you and wish for you to pay it forward with your family and friends.

"Tomorrow is never Promised.

So today, I want all my friends and family to know,
How Thankful I am to have you in my life."

Then a second request. Please think about my friends Ken and Bobbie. Ken is also battling and having major setbacks. He hasn't given up and as long as that's true, he can use all the extra prayers and good thoughts that can be sent his way.

Thank you all for being you and for being part of my life's journey.
Beth

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. My sympathies are with you and their families and will say a prayer for all of them. The one thing to remember is all of the good times that you shared with them because that is forever. May God hold you in the palm of his hand in your journeys.

Hi Beth,
I'm sending you a big hug and lots of healing energy for you and your friends. I lost a long time friend in August and I was so overwhelmed with sadness. It's the realization that we don't have a lot of time left. I am very grateful for my friends and take everyday as a gift. Take care of yourself and it should be warm in Tucson. Peggy

So sorry, (((Beth))). My prayers are with you and for your friends Ken and Bobbie; also for Sue and family. Always even sadder when it happens near the holidays. Christmas will be hard this year for them.

It sounds like you and your friends had a very sad day indeed. I hope things get better, and your friend Sue finds some peace.

Thank you all so much. As we age it just seems we need to expect losing more and more of those we love. Today all I could think about is how important it is that people know we care.
