Black Friday....Not going shopping here..

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Black Friday....Not going shopping here..

Postby rvgrammy1953 » Fri Nov 28, 2014 6:52 am

Good morning, all...

The plan here is no shopping for us "EX-retail Managers"....we paid our dues to be able to stay home and watch holiday movies on the TV... ;) Maybe a little "online shopping" later on, but nope, staying right here .....

As I said in a post on Thanksgiving, this park is packed....and I swear every camper/rv has at least 2 people and 1 dog each in them....some have more dogs than people.... :o  Spinner is beside himself doing his "greeting" others when we are out... He's such a "social butterfly"....

Hope this finds you all recovering from the food...

Left over pumpkin pie and fresh coffee ready....help yourself...

Have a great day, all...

Morning Lori and all,

Guess everybody must be sleeping off Thanksgiving this morning. Nope, no Black Friday for me either. Will be going out as I have a dog crate to return. Bought one for new puppy and despite my measuring etc. wil not fit into my current truck back seat and after giving more consideration to it, decided to get a dog pen instead. Will give her a bit more room when I have to leave her for a bit. Don't plan on keeping her in there forever as eventually she wil have run of the house after she gets past that puppy stage stuff. All of my dogs have loved sleeping in a dog bed which is between my bed and wall in a corner. Their own private cave that they just seem to gravitate to, so I expect Molly will do the same. May go to a big craft show about 40 miles north, but am watching weather on that that as there is some snow around.

Hope every one had a nice Thanksgiving yesterday and want to wish you a nice day today as well. Have some cereal here if you are looking for a light breakfast.

good morning ladies, doing a few things for myself before I wake up the rest of the crew and hit the road again. We spent the night in Las Vegas, 5 and a half hours to SLC. Had communication with my friend last night just as we were getting in LV but then my battery died. Couldn't find the car charger. Cell phone had a good all night charge and now that I have the car charger located we're good for the rest of the day. Hope he's still ok and alive when I get there.
Ok, time to take the dogs out, get them fed then wake up the rest of the crew. Catch ya'll laters.

Well I will admit that I might end up shopping before the day is over as I take advantage of birthday and Christmas shopping with direct input. It may not be as exciting as unwrapping some sweater in December but getting input from Kate each year as to what she wants/needs seems to work for the both of us.....

Good morning all, I'm always so glad when holidays are over!! Even though yesterday was pretty much like any other here, I was restless and bored. I did roast chicken breast and had mashed potatoes, gravy and corn . I also made the one bowl apple cake which after a few modifications (less sugar and added milk) it turned out great.
Ava, I'm a bit worried about you, especially when you said this morning you hope your friend is still alive! Take care.
Lori, I wish my dogs were social butterflies, they don't play well with others.
Have a great day everyone!

Good morning all! I posted yesterday but somehow it got lost! So hoping everyone had a good Thanksgiving! No shopping for me today either. Just doesn't seem worth it to me! Besides it's really cold out there! I do have to go back to my son's later to deliver the boys back to their mother then on to visit a friend. The drive home was interesting last night. The snow started to fall really hard and fast, road conditions went downhill fast. When I was on the hill closer to home it looked like the downhill side was really bad. Cars stopped and a few moving slowly. Just as I crested the hill a police car came up to that side and threw on his lights so I wonder if they closed the road for awhile. I did see a snowplow just coming out of the salt shed so imagine he was heading that way. So guess I got lucky to just miss it! Glad I put new tires on the Outback a while back! Welcome to PA winter! I hope everyone has a good day, stay safe and warm!

No Black Friday shopping here either. I plan to put on some Christmas music and take my time unpacking holiday decorations. Then a nice glass of wine and my plate of Thanksgiving leftovers tonight.

Can't believe I emptied two cans of liquid out of the bottom of my roasting pan after the turkey was done yesterday! I swear they injected the bird with water so it would weigh more! Not as much meat on the bird as I expected either. But at least two sons were here and there was enough left of everything for each of them to bring a plate home for tonight.

Good cozy Morning to all... I did not spend Thanksgiving alone... all of the happy travelers went to my son in laws brothers home... it was a happy gathering even the bride and groom were there... they left this morning on a 7 day cruise... how great is that! As always Becky out did herself so much food... her mom helped her decorate the whole house for Christmas... it is awesome... mine will be very tame compared to that... Augie dogie is home now... Shadow is sad...

I have never done the Black Friday shopping thing... however one year my son was coming and I went to Meijers Thanksgiving day early morning to get some fixings for dinner. They were handing out tickets at the door for special prices. I got my 32" TV for a good price. Would have liked to go out to find a new Keurig but would not brave the cold and crowds even for that...

Sounds like everyone is up and at it today... drive careful anyone on the roads especially thinking of Ava... let us know how things go please...

Good Morning,

Sounds like everyone had a good day yesterday! Donna, I figured your dad would be happy to eat! Kathleen, what a nice family GTG. Tina, that's my kind of shopping so kids get what they want!

We went for our ride - checking the trail to a favorite spot because it is washed out from the other end. Rough ride with wash out ruts. Did see a hawk up close but haven't figured out what kind yet. We saw two land, one disappeared, the other posed and then disappeared when I tried to get closer. Went into the brush I guess. Bushes in the wash are tipsy due to rain runoff this summer - some powerful water flowed through.

No shopping here! I am waiting for an item to arrive at a store in Lake Havasu so will go see that if it ever gets here - scheduled to arrive by this past Tuesday! Hoping to write Christmas cards today.

Concerned about you, Ava, but I am glad your son is with you!

Have a wonderful day and safe travels to those on the road!

I have not been a Friday after Thanksgiving shopper since I was a kid and went with my Mom to Stockton on Friday after. Back then we went because we needed to get started because she taught school and had to be efficient to have all wrapped and ready to pack in the car trunk when school was out for break and Dad was off for vacation, so we could head 8 hours south to Southern CA for Christmas and New Years. It was never about so called black Friday then it was simply about getting started to be ready for The trip. I just don't get the "have to go shopping" or the whole forced allure of so called black Friday. And I dislike traffic and crowds. So I will only go out to pick up RX I got a call to pick up and otherwise be here getting stuff done. Hope all have a good day and get accomplished what you intend and enjoy the leftovers. Its sunny now but rain expected by nightfall. That would be an early and very welcome gift if it actually does rain as much over the next 5 days as they predict. We surely need it and ESP a slow rain to rehydrate the soil.

I made the mistake of going shopping. The main things I wanted were 3 of the door busters at Kohl's. I did get what I went after but the traffic was so bad I gave up on anything else. When people are having to park on the grass at the mall you don't want to go there. My shopping friend is on a cruise or we would probably still be in Lafayette.

Only one son showed up yesterday so I sent him home with half the leftovers so we don't have to eat leftovers for several days. The stuffed chickens were good but I would like a turkey sandwich. My neighbor posted a picture on Facebook of the turkey they cooked. They boiled a turkey in crawfish boil seasoning. I'm not sure how that would turn out.

Good evening! :D
Didn't sleep very well last night. Maybe only got a few hours of sleep for some reason. I usually sleep really good, so don't know what the problem was. Had to get up early tho, for my annual physical. Everything checked out perfect. The polyps that were removed from my colonoscopy were nothing, so I don't have to go back for 10 years! YAY!!! :D Just have to get my mammogram done soon and I will be good to go for awhile!

I then drove up north to Walmart to pick up the aquarium I ordered last week and had sent "site to store". I had gotten an e-mail the other day that it had arrived there, but they couldn't find it today. So I was given a refund on it. All that way for nothing! (Well, I did stop at White Castle for lunch while I was up there :D ) Drove back toward home to PetCo and bought the same aquarium there for $10 more  and some fish tank décor, and two pretty bettas. One is mostly white with a little bit of turquoise on its body, and the other one is a mix of red, blue, purple, etc. I made a divider for the aquarium to keep them apart so they don't kill each other. Got it all put together tonight and it looks pretty nice! They are getting used to it for now and hiding behind the plants.

Traffic wasn't bad today. I think by the time I got out on the roads (noonish) most of the hardcore shoppers were done already. Seemed like just a typical weekend day in the stores. It snowed overnight but the roads weren't too bad, just wet and sloppy, so my Jeep is more white than black now.

Thanksgiving was good. The food was really good and my brothers were both very nice to me. One of them offered to take my dad back home which I was happy about. Found out my nephew who went to police academy a couple years ago, just got a "real" job (he has been a cop at the Mall of America for 2 years) as a sheriff deputy in southern MN. I am very proud of him! He really turned his life around from his high school days of drug and alcohol abuse! Now he has a good job and is happily married (one year). He also survived cancer from 6 years ago!

Need to get to bed early tonight to make up for last night, since I have to work all day tomorrow. Anyways, hope everyone had a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
