There are many that use the crate covers at performance and conformation venues.....they aren't all that fancy believe me...researching and finding the good price point is important. There finitely is a very upscale market for pets but there is also a mid-range practical market of folks hunting for good durable products like washable crate pads and covers and dog blankets, etc......

I have been packing and sorting all week for my 91 year-old mother, who is moving from Nevada City Ca to Santa Barbara. Tomorrow I will drive her down. So, I haven't had much time to investigate online jobs but I really appreciate all the input. It seems to be a popular topic. What do any of you think about publishing a book - an anthology of personal articles by those on this forum who would like to contribute. Do you think it would sell to wanna be RVing women? Or women who already RV? Or anybody who is an RVer? I'll bet some of us have some pretty interesting stories!

Oh my I am still chuckling at you Barbie... I came back to see what ideas were posted and your comment struck a funny bone... and just think my poor house has a roof problem!! You would be an awesome addition to the gathering on the 22nd...

I think the idea about the cage cover is great! I would think an insulated fabric for the sides would be good sometimes they are in drafty places... the top could be the breathing place... Like Tina said this could be an upscale market... but most rv'ers care a lot for their pets also... hall out the sewing machine!

I always thought that a pet taxi cover would be a great idea. In the winter when I have to take one of my pets to the vet, it is really cold out, so I put a small blanket over the carrier to keep out the cold air. A fitted thicker cover would work much better (with a hole in the top for the handle). Maybe now that I am getting a new sewing machine, I can make one for myself and if it turns out good, could make more and sell them.

I thought of all you crafty folks this weekend at the dog show. Not all shows have large numbers of vendors but the fall Columbus shows do.....and there was a lot of eye candy to give plenty of ideas. For those interested try to catch one of the larger shows in your area......you can find shows in your area on the AKC web site. If you click on back history links for most of the clubs you can figure out the size of the shows.......

I was just looking at photos on line of Quartzsite AZ with all the flea markets there in January. I wonder how much those vendors make while they are there for a month or two? I wonder if they can make enough there to get them thru the rest of the year on the road. Sounds like you can set up a tent pretty much anywhere out there to sell stuff. With the estimated 1 million seasonal visitors, that is a lot of potential customers! Just need to find a niche that would sell really good there. (I know I could spend a lot of money there! ).

ok I'm not a vendor nor do I know any but stuff I hear
1 is they follow the route...here a few then on to another...
2 Quartzsite is getting greedy and things are costing more ie the rent and license to do business...and some of the requirements to do business
3 there are fewer and fewer vendors
4 and there are fewer snowbirds/full timers here
5 it's still where I want to go

I can second every thing Snowball says. I have been going out to Q for many years. The vendors that used to come every year are no longer there. The "red tent" has very few vendors that used to attend. I would encourage those wanting to sell and make profits to hesitate and talk with locals who go out every year before making any plans to do so. Lyn
