FRIGID FRIDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

FRIGID FRIDAY

Postby dayspring39 » Fri Nov 14, 2014 5:44 am

Good Morning from the cold US... cold all over except FL and CA... too far for me to go so will stay here inside bundled up... 17 here this morning...
Looks like the cold wave will last until almost Thanksgiving here...
Got my iMac back yesterday... they had gotten all caught up at the Apple repair place so mine was a breeze... MalWare... they put something on it to keep it out and an icon in my box for something or the other.. Adwaremedic looks like some kind of doctor fix it...
I got my license tags and drivers license renewed... had to do a driving test... They are not open on Mondays and Tuesday was a holiday and Wednesday all of the computers in the state were down all day... soooo wow what a back up... I was there for over 4 hours... sitting in the cold... door open close and over and over again... I had not eaten since breakfast and was getting dizzy headed so stopped and got one of those jr burgers and a small drink ... took the top bun off as they put a lot of mustard on it... was ok...
Will now go back and read up on what everyone has done...
I hope you found your bag of clothes Anita... everyone has a black hole that swallows up things... Saw you got a perm Barbie... my last hair cut was the worse one I have had in years... it looks awful!
Mary if things fall through come on over!!!
Take care and stay warm... if you are going south stop by and pick me up...
Kathleen or Kathy

Use today wisely it's all you have; yesterday is a memory; tomorrow a dream... KLW[/b][/color]

G'morning Kathleen & all to follow :)

Kath, I sent you a PM--you're here early! Congrats on the new licenses--so much waiting though :( We're at a balmy 29deg here, & we got our first snow overnight--just a dusting. Supposed to continue off & on over the weekend, but it shouldn't stop me from leaving tomorrow!

Okay, Barbie, we need a new pic of you with your perm :) Actually, Anita, how 'bout a pic of you in your long johns if you ever find them  Martha (& other mid-southerners), saw on news where you're freezing down there too! Guess only Ava, Lyn & our Floridian family are enjoying some natural warmth. Yep,looks like I'll be burning propane too until I get to AZ!

Y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

Good Morning Kath, Carol and al who follow,

Don't know what the temp is here, but do know we had another dump of snow last night. Just cleaned up 6 inches yesterday morning and 3-4 the day before. So winter is definitely getting an early start here. Firearms deer season opens tomorrow, so hunters will be wading in the white stuff, especially in the U.P. Where there is already over 2 feet of snow in many places. Looks like early opening for many ski resorts.

Carol, ready to leave are you. Drive safe. Anita, have to read about that bag of missing clothes. I just found a fleece jacket I have been hunting for too.

Bit of decision making needed in the doggie dept. here. Have a chance to get a pup next month when they are ready. So it's do I or don't I. The logistics of getting downstate in winters weather and trying to housebreak her as well, need to be figured out. Probably should wait till spring and take my chances with planned breeding within the next month, but....
Always a dilemma is 't there. What would life be like without some

Well, guess I should go finish breakfast. Had some cereal and now off to a bowl of strawberries. Have other fixings here if anyone wants to come up to snow country. Hey, we can always build snowmen. That would be something different. Don't think that's been done at a GTG before  have a great day all.

Good morning Kathleen, Carolb, Sue, Donna & everyone that follows!

Kathleen, it won't be long now and you'll have a house full for Thanksgiving! I'm so happy for you and know everyone will have a good time. Carol, you'll be leaving soon to head to O'Sharon's and then Kathleen's and then on to your brother's house. Sue, so glad your procedure went well and that you have your snow equipment back. It sounds like you got it back just in time! Donna, I'll bet that if you fix the turkey for your Dad, he'll be thrilled. Anita, have you found what you were looking for yet?

It's chilly here in Wilson and we're almost at the high of 45 that we're going to get to today. We definitely have to dress in layers and wear a jacket when we go out. In a little over a week and we'll be heading south to Ocala with hopes the warmer temperatures are still there when we get there. I brought my keyboard with me and I've been looking for music and had no idea it would be that difficult to find it. We're going to head to Rocky Mount this morning because there is a store I called that said they had some. Hopefully it's something I want. Anita, I neglected to mention that the barbecue we had the other day did have the Lexington sauce and it was out of this world. I put that in my recipes and will be using it the next time I make pulled pork. I can see all the new posts today! Not sure what happened yesterday, but whatever it was, everything is working now. Safe travels to everyone on the road!

Good Morning,

I am up early as we are headed into Phoenix with my iPhone for a 9:40 a.m. 'reservation'. It said it was restored but then wouldn't download my backup. That was no biggie except even with restore the screen is gone.

I found the long johns!! No photo, Carolb! :D I had actually put them in a Rubbermaid which was then put in a garbage bag - really didn't think I'd bury them that deep!!

Irmi, I am so glad you enjoyed the BBQ!! Kathleen, that was certainly a hassle for your license, but I'm glad you have it! Sue, I guess you get fresh air with all the snow blowing! Donna, I bet your dad won't turn down turkey!

I'm on the go, go, go schedule again so better get a move on!

Have a great day, stay warm (or cool as is the need for some of us) and safe travels!

Good Morning, Cold and frosty here but the sun is out so makes it better.
Sue, I think there has been a GTG where a snowman was made and it was in Florida. If you get a puppy now, you could start it out on piddle pads in the house, they have some really good doggie ones at Walgreens. Most will learn to use them and transition to outdoors. With my little ones there are times I don't want them going out or it's the middle of the night and I don't want to get up with them.
I'm meeting a friend this afternoon who is bringing me persimmon pulp to make pudding, actually it is more like a moist cake, really yummy. I am so excited, persimmons are my favorite fall treat! She lives on a farm and she said her DH didn't like seeing them go to waste so he started making pulp and freezing it.
I'm cleaning out cabinets, can't figure out what got into me, unless I was motivated by filling the sack the Boy Scouts left last Sat. and will pick up this Sat. for their annual food drive for local food pantries.
Oh Anita come on, lets see the long johns :)

Yes it has! Check this out! In Ocala, Florida, no less! :o I think it was about 5 years ago at the FL GTG.

Kathleen, so glad you finally got your tabs and license! Wish I could join your Thanksgiving GTG!

Need to get a haircut and wait a couple weeks for my perm to "settle down" before I get a photo taken.

I finally got my $100 visa debit reward card from Rent.com for using them to get this apartment last June. So I decided to use it yesterday to buy a sewing machine I have been looking at at Walmart. I have been wanting one for a long time to use for mending, hemming, etc. (still have 2 pairs of "new" jeans that need to be hemmed from 3 years ago that I have never worn! Should probably try them on first to see if they still fit! ). Want to make some hammocks and things for the ferrets too. Then maybe start making other things. I used to sew many years ago but my machine broke and I haven't had one since.

The RV "workers on wheels" story on the local news last night, was another down and out story. Poor seniors who can't afford to keep their house and are "forced" to hit the road (in a gorgeous 36' 5th wheel with several slides, no less) to do hard labor in order to "survive" after retirement.

8 degrees here this morning! Hope this isn't a hint of what the rest of the winter will be, just like last year!

Have a great day and stay warm!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

glad its Friday, have put weeding on my to do list for the weekend. Maggie alerted me to a little ground squirrel trying to make a home back behind the shed among the weeds. Sure don't need any little rodents bring in fleas. Will do the weeds,
bury his hole and try to "encourage" it to go back to its colony across the irrigation canal.
Cloudy and cool today, ya'll have a good day and be safe.

Oh yes Barbie that was a snow man Liz made outside her rig... I thought I would get up early (now stop laughing Liz) make a snow ball and go over to Liz's rig and throw it at her... but she beat me to the punch with the snowman!!! That was at Silver River...
One of the ladies getting their driver test said she had sat for 4 hours on Wed while the computers were down... she is 81 so did not feel half as bad... I guess they give you drivers tests when you get older... I did get a 4 year license and it was only $5... the other lady had to pay $2 now who said it doesn't pay to get old!! my car tag was only $24... had a special number to use to get it that cheap...
Barbie you can pop right down here we all would love that! and BJ you could pop up here...
What a relief for you Anita... maybe if I look I could find one of Shadows green balls... Irmi hope you find the music you want then you can serenade Steve!
Enough from me for one day well maybe... take care everyone...

Still freezing in Vicksburg. Really need to get my water pump replaced because having to take dribble showers. Too cold to hook to city water at night. Waiting for washing machines now to do laundry. Will head southeast tomorrow so may be warmer. At least I am catching up on work.

Also got to get recliner fixed at laz-y-boy in Pensacola or get new one. It is stuck open so hard to get into or out of. It's old so I won't mind replacing but I do like it and it fits me.

A snowman in Florida! Wow!!

We left at 8 this morning and were cutting it close to make 9:40 'reservation' at the Apple Store in Glendale - actually a minute or two late by the time I got in the mall. Then I waited until 10:40!! Now why make reservations every 10 minutes when no way they are going to help you them?? I had done all the initial repair tricks so tech said they would replace the display screen, come back in 45 minutes. No problem, I needed breakfast/lunch! LeRoy asked if we had to wait in line again - 'Oh, no! Just let them know you are here for your phone.' Ha! We went back, waited at least 20 minutes, but I have a brand new phone!! Never ever want to do that again.

We did have a good day, and I think I get the evening at home. Have plenty to do if I find the ambition! :) I am nearly packed so feel a little more relaxed about that.

I guess this is Good Evening now. I had a nice day. Took a load of books down to the Cosy Camper for Quartzsite. The camper is so nice and clean, just waiting for January. Swam, not really, did the jogging in the pool. Air was a little cold but water temp perfect. Sunshine out in the afternoon. Anita, here's hoping you see lots of bears! Kathleen, your Thanksgiving gtg sounds like such fun. Barbie wish you were closer to cut my hair. I do not like going to beauty shop. However, I did get a nice haircut in Tulsa, OK. Now I need another one. Lyn

Good evening...am I too late for morning coffee? Had to fast this morning until after bloodwork and doctor visit. Found out this is the year to get another colonoscopy...it's been 5 years. Oh joy, but I know I'm not alone...a lot of you had it done this year. Not scheduled yet...they'll call me. Also got the mammogram done today. That's the end of the dr. visits until round two...the recalls. Got to see another opthamologist about possible cataract surgery...one that specializes in surgery after LASIK. Don't know for sure if the cataract surgery will be necessary this year or not. Back to podiatrist to check on healing of toe that had surgery a couple weeks ago, and so it goes. I think I see way too many doctors.

It's going to be cold a couple of days next week...highs only in the 50s. But then it'll warm back up, so I won't complain.
