I sure understand that loss of equlibrium. I cared for my Mom in my home for 6 years and even though she was unable to communicate much of that, it threw me a curve when she was gone. And that was way beyond grief. I kept thinking there were things I needed to do, but would then realize those tasks were gone. We went out to a theater as a family of 4 soon after Mom died and I kept thinking the whole time I needed to get home and do something. It takes time to adjust . I am glad you are accepting that in yourself and giving yourselves time. Best wishes in your new adventures.

That's it exactly, Velda, I kept thinking I needed to do something for her, pick up a med, take her to an appointment, etc. That has faded over the months, but I still keep thinking I need to call her, wanting to call her. I guess that will pass as well over time.

More than a year after my Mom died, and more than 6 years after she left the house I grew up in, without thinking I dialed the phone number,of the old house, which of course the number had been given to someone totally different. When the person picked up I suddenly realized what I had done. It stunned me to realize I was still affected at that point I time. Just know you will adjust to the new normal

So glad to see you posting again. You've had so much happening in your life! Sounds like some good things are happening now though! How excitting that you will be in FL! You'll be able to travel all year if you want instead of worrying about the nasty white stuff! I spent several years in Rantoul while my dad was stationed at Chanute AFB. Went to grade school there. I'm sure I wouldn't recognize it now! Looking forward to following along with your adventure!

Hey Sharon! I went to Rantoul HS (class of '78), my dad retired from Chanute. You would definitely not recognize the place now, they closed the base sometime in 1993 and turned the property over to the village. It's mostly used for housing these days and a few companies have moved in to the old hanger and office buildings.

Mickie, wondering if you are still familiar with Rantoul? I went to Maplewood Elementary that was literally right across the perimiter road from our house. They then said we had to be bussed to the new school a couple miles away. I Don't remember the name but it wasn't far from Bethany Park Church where we went to church. I just remember being so upset at the change! We used to walk to town to the A&W stand. We lived on base when we got there, then on Sunset Dr and finally on base before Dad was transferred to Mather in CA where he retired. Mather closed too, didn't it?? Oh my, I'm really dating myself here!! Way back in time! O'Sharon

Sharon - yes, I'm very familiar with Rantoul. It's only 13 miles away and my brother and his wife still live there. My niece went to Maplewood too; small world.
