Going in to work later on. Today we are giving all vets a free haircut, or a giftcard for a free haircut good 'til Christmas.
Good for you Barbie. It is good to read about things people and companies are doing for veterans. They certainly deserve our recognition and appreciation from all of us. Interesting to read about those of you with family members who are in the military or have served in the past.
My father was a World War II vet. After he passed away we discovered a credit card sized version of his DD214 he was given when he was discharged from the Navy. He never said anything to us, but carried it in his wallet over 60 years. We took my father to the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola when he was about 80. He was frail and used an electric scooter by then because he was not able to walk much. While my father was checking out an airplane he flew during the war this couple asked him if he was a veteran, called him sir and thanked him. It really meant a lot to him.
