Veterans' Day Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Veterans' Day Tuesday

Postby carolb » Tue Nov 11, 2014 5:56 am

G'morning all :)

Aw, Peaches in the snow--does she look happy! Glad to hear the storm didn't dump as much snow as predicted, but it sure sounds like it was nasty. Looks like we'll get it here starting tomorrow, not so much snow, definitely much colder temps. Today, 60! Will mulch leaves, & whatever is left on the trees will just have to fall while I'm gone--& hope they don't kill my grass

O'Sharon, sent you a PM--got you on my travel plans if you're available :D Kathleen, been meaning to tell you I can make pumpkin pie--with my fresh (frozen) pumpkins. Crust is easy--Pillsbury roll-out

Anita, breakfast buffet is my favorite--you're right about being able to have a half waffle :) Sarah & Pat, this is definitely soup weather. Ava, I'm sure all of us in cold country envy your AZ weather. You're being such a good mom to Scout! That's one really lucky dog:)

Beth, enjoy your day off, & to all of you, have a great day! Oh, & a special thanks & appreciation for all our Vets! 8-)

Good morning Carolb and all to follow,

It's 55* and sunny outside this morning. The temps are supposed to be in the high 70's this week. I hope all caught in the the artic blast are hunkered down and buttoned up tight. I like snow for about 3 days around Christmas and then it's time to go.

I think the Thanksgiving GTG idea is wonderful! You can't pick your family but you can pick your friends  I hope when Dave and I go full time we'll be able to have holidays with some of our group. That sounds like so much fun.

The Feb GTG is growing each day. Today I had a message from a new member joining us. She's from Chicago. What a diverse and fun group we'll have!

Thank you for allowing me to join your group and to bring Dave along :D You all are the best!

Keeping everyone in my thoughs and prayers. Remember what ever you're going through you're not alone.

Blessings and hope all your worries are small.

Oma/Vicki

Sorry all I have for breakfast is cherrios

good morning ladies,
Veterans Day Parade starts at 9, will be watching it on tv.
Little chilly this morning, 59* and I have the heater going. It will warm up a little of course as the day wears on.
Lots of little chores to do today, minor stuff, but it all needs doing so I'll just get caught up on those and call it
a day.
Ya'll enjoy your day, bundle up and stay warm.

Good Morning, The morning here started out so nice, a bit cloudy but 60 and perfect for our walk at seven, now an hour later it is dark and gloomy. Really cold weather is going to be here in a couple of days and it is going to feel worse coming after such a warm spell. I heard a talk on the radio about the ocean and how some people feel so much better when they live close enough to hear and smell it. I think I was misplaced here in IL!
Toby is still going through his stage of being afraid of his food and water bowls. He woke me at midnight crying softly, I got up to find him by the water bowl so I picked it up and he drank all of it. I forgot to offer it to him before we went to bed. I had a hard time getting back to sleep but tuned into my Audiobook free app and listened to a few chapters of Letters of a Woman Homesteader. I just love the app there are hundreds of free books.
Stay safe and warm.

Good morning all! Another nice day in PA! Last one before the temps drop so going to take advantage of it! Taking my friend to Gettysburg to spend the day. Been awhile since I was there. Apparently they've changed the location of the NP visitors center and the route on the battlefield. "The guy" called a few minutes ago and wants to come today so told him I'd be gone but apparently no problem for him. Yippee, I may come home to no leaves in my yard! Well, at least less then are there now! Thinking of the members of the armed services today. Both my dad and DH served proudly in the Air Force.

Gotta get on the road! Have a good day and stay warm and safe!

Good Morning,

Oh, BJ, I love being where I can hear water whether ocean or river! I always wanted a place on a river. Carolb, if the leaves kill the grass, you won't have to mow as much!

Ava, I also have the heater on this morning, but I'm taking my cold neck wrap on the desert ride because I know it will be very warm!

LeRoy picked me up to go play 'cards' at his park last night. We forgot it was potluck night so many more in the clubhouse than I expected. Lots of hugs - some whether I wanted them or not. My favorite is a Tennessee man in his 80s who is the sweetest! He gave me some moonshine a few years ago - and yes I drank it. :D

I'm suppose to be getting ready for the ride so wishing you all a great day and safe travels.

Remembering our Veterans with many thanks!

Good morning
Got to enjoy my coffee on the porch again this morning - about 60 degrees out and heading to low 70s before the bottom drops out.
That pot of soup turned out to be some of the best I've made in a while. Wish I could remember what I did differently on it.
Big parade and other festivities here today for Veteran's Day. One fund raising project is an interesting approach to a mosaic. It is composed of about 1400 photos of veterans. It is open to all and will be done annually so if you would like to participate here is link with the story and photos from last year.

Good morning to all!
Just got a dusting of snow overnight so that is good. The bad part is the ice underneath it. Still very windy too and cold. The graders came by overnight and scraped the ice off the roads and must have put salt down, because the road out front is just wet pavement now. The parking lot is a whole 'nother story tho! :o

Going in to work later on. Today we are giving all vets a free haircut, or a giftcard for a free haircut good 'til Christmas.

Nothing much else new here. Enjoy your day! :D

Ah, ladies I'm feeling overwhelmed today and this crappy weather isn't helping my mood. The business checking account is giving me fits so I had to call my accountant who (God bless her) quickly agreed to help me out with it. I hate numbers, and I sure hate that checking account this morning.

I'm looking forward to our little gtg at Kathleen's; sure hope the weather will cooperate. I sure need a break. Yesterday I drove to my clients and I don't even remember how I got there. That's bad. I'm getting so very tired and I still have the Thanksgiving week to get through-I have so many people calling for service I had to call in one of my backups for help. I do have a little break this weekend and I'm going out with a friend for breakfast on Saturday, then she's agreed to help with my friend Daun's dog on Sunday so I can get a break. He's a wonderful pup but I'm just getting worn out with all the running around I've been doing.

It was raining like mad here a bit earlier but it's stopped now. Hope it just holds off til I get the dogs walked. I may have to go and put my horses up because of the weather.

Sorry to be such a downer today, guess I'm not feeling my usual sunny self.

Take care,
Kathy
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

We are a Navy family. My husband served 20 years in the Navy and I was a Navy Nurse and met him while serving in Morocco. I completed a total of 20 years as well. My Dad was a WWII Marine, who went to Japan with the occupation forces. My father in law was in the Army during WWII in Europe as a 17 year old! I guess together we have close to 50 years of service! We feel lucky to have all survived to have the memories we do, though my father has been gone now 27 years.

Veterans Day 2014. I came from a military family. My farther was a commissioned officer in the Navy. It did many things to him he was so damaged mentally from the service and life in general.
My two brothers and one of my sisters served in the military.
My sister Wilma received a military burial. Her son Keith went to Annapolis and served our country.
I am very proud of those who have served our country to keep us safe.
The big war came and went now we face a different kind of threat.
In some ways it is called apathy which will destroy from the inside.
Be proud Be glad Be one to stand up and salute our flag.
GOD BLESS AMERICA I love you!
Sarah that memorial is very good... so many have either given their lives or served our country in different ways!

Everyone seems so busy! It is raining here waiting for the burrrrrrr by afternoon. A malicious bug got into my iMac... it will cause about $100 to get it fixed. Sometimes I can write and then others different screens pop up ones I have not invited to be here...
Kathy and Carolb looking forward to 21 Carol and 22 Kathy... I do hope Cheryl is looking at this and will also come... I promise to have the food properly cooked Cheryl... (our running joke!)... is there anyone else in the Illinois area who would like to come?
I know with the changing in the weather and the holiday season coming many are in a down mood... come in and visit let us know how you are... Take care friends...

It was 77 yesterday north of Dallas. At midnight opened window over my bed for a while to cool off. This morning it was 30 outside and 50 inside even with small heater going and occasionally using rear furnace!! Froze trying to get water hose unhooked from pole with my still-sore hand. Glad I am not in northern state but going to have to fill water tank tonight and use that instead of water hose!! Will be in n Vicksburg tomorrow.

Just survived driving through Dallas so am taking break in Walmart parking lot !!

Hope Sue and Barbie and all other north are warm.
