Leaving Oregon

Postby Mollysmom » Tue Mar 10, 2009 11:14 am

Well, it's time for me to leave Oregon and start back toward Iowa. I'm leaving tomorrow and plan on taking a month to get back to Iowa - I really want to be there for Easter. If it takes more or less time, that's cool too !! There's really no reason to get there before April 1st though because the campground I stay at isn't open till then and the weather can still be really bad in March - heck we'll probably have a snow storm in April, we always do !! Oh and the mud ! I forgot about the spring mud !!
I'll leave tomorrow and drive to Medford OR the first day - not allot of miles, but it's through the mountains and I want to drive during the warmest hours of the day - there's still some snow up there and I don't want to get caught !! Next day Redding CA, again through the mountains - after that I should be OK !!
I'll be driving allot of the same route, but will be taking 10 though AZ - I took 40 on the way here but that can get cold and snowy so I think 10 is a better choice, plus it's a new route ! It'll give me a chance to see new things.
I'm really sad to be leaving "my" ocean and my friend Paulie, but it's time to hit the road. I'm looking forward to my summer job in WI, I think it'll be fun and very interesting. I'm also looking forward to seeing my family again !!! I'll spend April in Iowa then head to WI in May - I'll only be 4 hours from family so we can visit more often. That'll be nice.
Onward ever !! The adventure continues

Been gone for a week, but glad I'm home in time to wish you safe travels! Where are you picking up the 10? Maybe able to meet for a cuppa joe or something if you have time.

Definitely keep us updated on your where abouts - if you take your time, I'll be in NM (as will Sparkle) for the month of April before we take different routes again. Or you could always head all the way into TX and catch up with us here before you head north :)

Really, do have a safe trip - and I can see the lure of WI and being close to family.

Well I made it to Medford ! the drive went well !!! There were a few moments of stress, but nothing overwhelming.
My checklists came in really handy when it was time to hitch up and again when I arrived - I'm so glad I have them !!!
We're all snuggled in - we've all had food and Molly is enjoying having grass in "her yard" again ! Tomorrow I'm on to Redding CA - WooHoo !
