Travel blog

Finally we get on the road to Yuma to pick up the Micro Lite. Life's other obligations got in the way of being on the road to get the Micro Lite. It's been in storage since my sister returned to Minnesota in May. We get the trailer and then go to Apache Junction and the Lost Dutchman State Park for the annual group Halloween camp out. Our departure date has been so "iffy". Mostly because John broke all the instep bones in his left foot in August and has been on very limited activety. No weight bearing on that foot and frequent Dr's appointments. He got the all clear from his Dr this week to do partial weight bearing and can walk wearing the big black boot so we are hurriedly preparing to leave. This will be a different trip south west as we wont be towing but will stay with my sister and brother in law in their 5th wheel. 4 people and 2 dogs in the RV..hope we are talking to each other by the time we reach our destination. Traded in the jeep or a Chevy 1500 Silverado so we have more towing power and more storage capacity.( translates to mean e can hit more thrift stores in our travels) I think we will be more comfortable. This year instead of posting on Facebook to keep things more private I want to do a travel blog. I know many of you write blogs and was hoping you would share what sites you use and why you like it. John finally retired so I'm looking forward to many excursions in the new trailer and plan to write of many trips.

Retirement....great accomplishment. Changes life and if the body can cooperate, clears the road for more adventures. I look forward to hearing about the journeys. :D

BlogSpot.com is a popular one. Easy to set up and use.

Be careful tho where you post the link to it. I posted mine on Citydata.com and a couple months later, someone hacked it and deleted the whole thing.
Just give it to people you know you can trust (like us! :D ).

Can't wait to hear about your new adventures in your new TT! Are you spending the winter in Arizona?

No won't spend the winter there. I would like to go back for January and February. John has surgery on his foot again in January so we will see. I don't ind winter so much as I mind the length of it. I do love the Southwest tho. I want to do a blog that I can just invite certain people to view it Not make it public. In the past I have posted just a little information but I hate to put too much info on a public site. I got the important stuff packed today. Breezie's supplies!! and organized what knitting projects I will take along!

I don't think others on here who use BlogSpot.com have had any problems with it.
Good luck on your trip to AZ and hope you love your new TT!

Love that photo of Breezie. Looks like he is saying "OK, I'm ready! Let's go!" :D

Rita - I use blogger (Google blog). It has quite a few templates to choose from. I basically am using my as a journal for 'been there - done that' stuff so I can remember where I've been when the ole memory starts to fade (which it is sometimes doing now :( )

I could be wrong, but I believe one of the blogging platforms where you can only read the person's posts if they approve you is http://www.travelpod.com/, I also believe the one that Good Sam has requires you to allow the person to see your blog. Most ... like wordpress, blogger, etc are open for all on the internet to see.

OK, just checked travelpod - and their premium one can be private: "
Private blogs

With an Enhanced Membership you can make your blogs private, so only friends with the password can read it."
One of my friends uses that.

Map Quest has a travel blog that I am going to try. Maps and photo's can be uploaded. I don't want a site that is totally private, but one that i can send certain people to view. I have posted comments on Facebook in the past and i want to avoid that this time. I have some new friends (family members) that run with an unsavory crowd that I do not care to have them know our place is empty. My problem now is the neighbor that takes care of the cat and gets the mail is in the hospital so I am scrambling to find substitute care. I hope I don't have to pop him in a crate and haul him around. The howls of protest would be heard around the world.
