And now this morning I am worried because she is so quiet. I'm hoping this is what normal puppy behavior is and I've forgotten since she has always been so active. Even the breeder said, this one has a lot of spunk and energy. I think it is just a bit of left over drugs, Yesterday, I gave her 1/2 Benadryl around five and the pain med at ten. I won't give her anything today unless she starts racing around like she is hurting.

Keep an eye on the incision. If it gets red and swollen, take her back to the vet. Can't believe they didn't send her home with some pain pills. After the pain meds and Benadryl she will probably be kind of lethargic. Vet suggested I give Sophie Benadryl for her allergies but I didn't like how lethargic she was.

You may want to try 1/4 benadryl, sounds like she's sensitive to it or it may have been a bit too much in addition to the pain meds. What pain meds did they give you for her? Then again, being quiet might just be the best thing for her right now.

I only gave her the pain medicine the one time. It was Tramadol, 1/4 of a 50 mg pill, good thing I bought the pill splitter. I did give her another 1/2 Benadryl this afternoon as she was bothering the stitches like they itched. Tonight I tried to give her another dose of the Tramadol but wasn't successful poking it down her, then tried it covered with almond butter, and a little mashed potatoes and gravy and she wouldn't touch it. Those things must smell bad! She is in bed so hopefully she will sleep all night.

I have trouble getting pills down Nicky too. Have had some success using "pill pockets" by Greenies.

When Abby got sick in CA earlier this year, the vet sold me a thing that shoots the pill down their throat.
I almost killed her trying to use it.
Anybody wants it, I'd be glad to mail it to them...

back in the days when I had to do doggy meds, I always got the liquid form, the tramadol worked really good. (works good
on my arthritis too, except mine are pill form) I also liked the meticam, that always put them out like a light, resorted to
that a time or two with Gracie during thunderstorms.
