FINALLY! Some good news from Verizon

Postby JudyJB » Mon Oct 06, 2014 6:24 pm

As you all know, I have been very unhappy with Verizon this summer because my new Jetpack gobbles up data, and I have made many calls to Verizon about this and about the Canadian roaming charges they kept promising to remove and then did not remove.

So, I went into the corporate Verizon store in Napa today between doctor appointments. I took my old, broken jetpack, and they were able to fix it by putting in a new SIM card. Wish I had done that in June instead of buying a new one, but at that time, I figured it was impossibly broken and could not be so easily fixed. Anyway, for $20 per month, I also had them add it to my plan so I can use it for general surfing and only use the new one for times when I need super speed, such as online video conferencing.

The big news, however, is that for some strange reason Verizon is doubling the number of Gigs per month they provide to all users of more than 12 Gigs a month, offer good through October 31. It's called More Everything and is different from the More Everything that had last winter. So now, for the same price, I will get 40 Gigs per month starting tomorrow. (Wonder if all my ranting through about 20 phone calls pushed them over the edge? ) Anyway, if you have Verizon, you might want to check the web site and change your plan. I think there are some increases for people who use less data than I do.

So hopefully, I can be done with Verizon for a while since all this has not been good for my blood pressure. I will still have to be careful about how I use data, but maybe I will not have to rely on free WiFi in campgrounds and McDonalds and can get back to using only my own service. Life is certainly easier in a sticks and bricks home, isn't it? Just celebrated with a sub for lunch/dinner and some chocolates, which solve almost everything.

Only other problem is that both my trigger finger and my carpal tunnel syndrome is back, so on Thursday I will get injection in left hand for trigger finger and surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome. Hope it is not too bad and I can still use a mouse. Anyone have this surgery who can advise me on how limited I might be?

well thats good news from Verizon, hope they eventually get those Canada charges off there for ya too.
Can't help ya with the surgery thing but hope it goes well for you. I've known some drivers at work that
did some kind of carpel tunnel arthroscopic type and it went well and they only missed a day or two of
work. Don't know what all it entailed though.

I have a air card and rarely although have come close to going over and once actually did. With going back out to the desert
would like to look into adding what ever I need....and am going to change over to the MIFI hopefully that will be a good move.
as to the carpel tunnel had that surgery years upon years ago so am sure that it's not the major thing it was then...I had both hands done
bandaged up to the elbows and had to relie on others a lot...as you can imagine with both hands bandaged
was off work seems like 6 weeks but again that was oh heavens at least 20 or more years ago...
now tell me about the trigger finger?? had a thumb that they used that term with but now I have a finger that most of the time I can't close completely some times it's has a motion where I pretty much have to straighten it out...it reminds me of that toy we used to have where you would catch it in a way and it would jump :(

Sheila, trigger finger is simar to carpel tunnel in that it involves a tendon passing through a band of connective tissue. For me it is middle finger of left hand. Can't mKe a fist because that finger won't bend. When I do force a bend it snaps like a trigger on a gun. Then it is hard to straighten up. They make a tiny incision at base of finger to release band. My mother had it done and only one or two stitches and just a bandaid.

They told me my hand would be in a brace for the carpel tunnel release and I could move fingers a little bit but no lifting or moving wrist. My worry is about using a mouse which I must be able to do!!!!

Anyone know if I can use a mouse with the brace they put on??? I cannot get excused from grading things so will need to work like crazy to get work done by Wednesday evening. No one to help me. Need to keep my teaching job so will do what I have to do.

Judi,
Thank you for the info - I just got 3 GB more for the same price. I already was thinking of calling them after seeing some of their latest advertising.

I'm Judy with a "y" just so no one gets confused.

Sheila, a shot of cortisone lasted 9 months with my trigger finger, so surgery may not be needed. He said he wants to do the surgery on my carpal tunnel syndrome because I have had it for at least ten years.

And I spoke too soon about Verizon. Apparently, they forgot to tell me today that there was a $35 activation fee that just showed up on my bill. I am going in to the corporate store tomorrow to chew them out!!!

Hummmm don't know if I should say "Thanks Judy for the info" or slap the Driver. We went into Verizon today to see about upping our GBS from 5 'cause we've been running over them every month lately. AND THEY TALKED BILL INTO a Tablet...cannot believe it. But we did get the GBs upped to 15 for less than I've been paying a month lately. And she told us about the activation fee.
Of course he says he got the tablet because he "knew" I wanted one. NOT. But guess I'll learn to use it.
Tomorrow if it is not raining we plan on getting on the road. Pouring and ugly today.

..and there are those that say women are the impulse buyers. I run into trouble when I know it is something I have been thinking about for a long time and then suddenly the opportunity is right before me..... :o and it follows me home. It can be big or small items....suddenly I am tired of researching and debating pros and cons with myself, weighing all those options rationally, and there is it.

Put you typical male person into a hardware store, and you will quickly see who are the REAL impulse shoppers!!!

This might be a little off-topic and if so please forgive me. I have been with ATT forever but I'm on a grandfathered unlimited data plan and have heard rumblings that they might do away with it and force people onto a capped data plan. So, because of that and the fact that they will not let you activate a hotspot for a tablet, etc on the unlimited plan, I've been looking for other options. Verizon offers a Nationwide 65 plan for "Seniors" with 200 minutes plus night and weekend free minutes, 1000 messages and a data package of 4 GBs and a hotspot for about $90/month. You can bump up the data to 7 GBs making the cost around $110/month. I guess I need to compare the plan to one of their More Everything plans to see if it's a good deal and would save some money. Is anyone on the Nationwide 65 plan or something similar?
