Saturday Soaker

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

 & I'm supposed to get a garage today

G'morning all:)

Thanks to you midwesterners for sending this downpour  ;) Actually, it sounds like it's been a pretty nasty storm--Texans, Okies, Kansans & others all okay??? Well, guess I have no excuse for avoiding housework, so I've started laundry already. On day 4 of anti-b's & feeling much better, thank you ;)

Sue, was good to see you here yesterday. You're a great Collie mom, so any you adopt will be lucky critters! Lyn, happy travels on your way back to CA--how fun to have had so much time with Catherine. We should all have such an experience! BTW Sarah, glad you & Nikki made it home safely. The (only) "best" part of returning home is letting the poopers have free roam of their yards, eh???

Did we tell you? Peg & I went to the Flt 93 Memorial on our way home from gtg. It was a "no words" experience--still haunts me. Saw on the news last night that their temporary visitor building burned down :( Hard to believe we were just there the previous Friday...

Wow, could use some of Catherine's great biscuits & gravy this a.m., but alas, just coffee here..

Y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

Good morning,

Raining here so haven't even gotten out of bed yet. Need to get moving. Have to go grocery shopping today. One of my least favorite things now that Publix is no longer in town. Just read that Walmart is changing their bogo match policy. No longer bogo match at their price. Now will honor bogo at price from other store. Boo lots of lost savings.

Fall is headed our way. It's supposed to be in the 80's today. Hard to read about snow flurries already. Hope winter isn't as bad for everyone this year! People are starting to put their campers up for winter and we're just getting ready to camp. Too hot down here to enjoy it in the summer.

With fall comes dutch oven cooking time. Yippe! Again another activity that is not done in the summer. I belong to a group and we cook from Oct. To April. Hosting the first ever Florida Dutch Oven Gathering Feb 28th. Should be a lot of fun.

Hope everyone is on the mend. It seems like there have been a lot of health challenges lately.

Hope to see everyone at the end of the month in Silver Springs. Time to go find some breakfast.
Oma/Vicki
Ps Hope you get that garage Carolb!!

Morning to all my ax murderer ladies!

I actually saw my friend who made that statement and told her "look, Sue, they weren't ax murderers, I'm still in one piece! " LOL ;)

Cold, rainy, windy here; this is NOT my idea of nice weather. I will be heading down to Kathleen's in a short time so I'm checking in with some forums and FB early.

Carol I sure hope that dang garage gets there soon-you might get some snow out of this weather as northwest of my area did last night. Then how will they get the thing put up? Keeping my fingers crossed and toes too for a speedy delivery!

Not much else to report this am, breakfast here was coffee and a pistachio muffin, yummy.

Take care,
Kathy

Morning all. Rainy and chilly here this morning. Ug, not ready for it yet! One more trip before I winterize Lola. Don't have to report for jury duty this week so maybe... Need to see how the week plays out.

Went up to the elk country on Wed with DS. It was so foggy and it didn't burn off until noontime. Saw lots of critters but no elk. We did stop at one overview and heard them which was so neat. Went back to the same place later in the day and what a beautiful view! Lots of color across the mountains. Hard to believe it's only about 45 minutes or so from home and I've never been there before! I've gotta work on that!

Carol, glad to hear the garage is coming today. And that you are feeling better. Good news all around! Read in the paper this morning about Shanksville fire and thought about you and Peggy having just been there.

Kathy, had to laugh about the axe murderer comment! She just needs to meet some of these gals! I'm so glad I found this group!

Coffee is on and some good apple cider bread for toast. Have a good day, all!

Good morning ladies :D <----always try to keep a smile on my face
besides, its Saturday and that always makes me smile. I've been up for awhile now, already doing some chores on my list.
But haven't started the routine stuff yet. On the agenda today...I will get up on the roof and survey the seam at the end
cap to see what I need to do about that leak. Thinking most likely to scrape out all the old sealer and put in new, or....
what about eternabond, if memory serves me right, its pretty good stuff. Will do some research on that.
Picked up a couple of tubs for storage, gutting out my room and sending stuff to the shed. Of course purging at the same
time cause certainly there is "some" stuff that can go to goodwill.
There is lots of other stuff on my "to do" list but won't bore you all with that, but it mostly consists of yard maintenance.

This is the time of year our snowbirds start coming back so I'm keeping my eyes open for my old friends to come back.
They will be glad the lady across the street from them finally got evicted. It was actually quite a site, sad but everyone
was glad to see it finally happened, its only taken 6 years to get it done. The lady was a hoarder and things really got out
of hand. When I came home from work the other day the cops were there and lots of cars helping her pack up her crap.
She already had all month (and then some) to get it done but she was very mentally challenged with this disease of hoarding.
The park actually lost quite a few good tenants over her hoarding thing. The part that gave me a chuckle was the old guy
living in the space I used to be in, had his truck backed into his driveway and was sitting in the front seat with a big bag of
popcorn.  ( guess I'm demented when it comes to things that strike me funny) The park had to get the health dept
to help get this done as she hasn't had electricity in two years OR running water in her old trailer, the pipes were broken.
The only water she had was the garden hose. They had to condemn the place and also had mental health involved. I noticed
a couple of the cats got missed but the park is still trying to trap them. (she was also known as the cat lady)

Thats all thats on my mind for now, time to get dressed and get up on the roof. Ya'll have a great day and be safe. Hope
you have good weather.

Good Morning from Salida, Colorado - Hwy 50 headed west

I missed the axe murderer conversation at the GTG! We are a frightening bunch!

Carolb, I'm not holding my breath for that garage to get there. Hope today is the day and that you continue to feel better . Isn't a strange feeling to be somewhere or just have been there when there is major news from that area?

We went to Bishop's Castle yesterday, a one man construction project, west of Pueblo, Colorado. The fall colors are beautiful! Not sure what today holds.

The night time temps are quite a shock to my system - in the 30s!!

It has been great to see some good news on here with people and pets doing better!

Enjoy your day and safe travels!

Ava, you slipped in. I think you would be happy with the Eternabond. It does take a bit of work, but I know you are no stranger to that!!

Mornin' ladies and all that follow...

Being a little skeptical of that garage at this point Carol. I'll believe it when you actually see it. ;)

Right there with ya Oma/Vicki - I slept in today - 10 hours! :o Holy moly haven't done that in quite a while. Must have needed it.

Yes I do believe this group is known as ax murderers. I heard the same thing from Kathleen's daughter when she told me the story of the first time Kathleen when to meet some of you ladies. Guess being known as a murders may be a good thing. Your campsites are safe from creeps.

Ava - nice, but sad, about the lady getting evicted, but the view from your site will definitely improve soon once clean-up is done.

Anita - I thought Bishops Castle was pretty cool when I was there about 14 years ago. Always wondered if he was still doing work on the place. From the signs he had up when I was there, he definitely had some kind of beef with the government. Is he still building? Living in it? Other?

And for the birders - friend sent this to me today. Thought I'd pass along. It's a Cornell video of a project to photograph all of the birds in Guinea. Really beautiful birds there.

Have a great day everyone and if you're on the road - stay safe - - - and keep your ax handy! :D

Good morning
Deceptively pretty out this AM - sunny blue skies but cold and windy. Drive needs to be blown but too much wind gives me a good excuse to put that chore off. Lots of leaves and small limbs down after early Friday storms that included an EF-0 tornado (70+ mph winds). I was far enough away from touch down to only get fringe winds but that was sufficient to make a mess of yard and porches. Hate to think what may be in gutters again. Not dressed yet but will look for a sweat suit before going out.
For those who missed the discussion over concerns about little old lady ax murders, we did do a check for axes at KS gtg. Check link and scroll down a bit to see what we found

Cheryl, he is still working on it, and it is not habitable. I'm not sure if it could be with all the openings, steps, etc. All those spiral staircases are something else - not something I would want to climb every day because of the steps, not the climb.

He still has his roughly painted signs up about his feelings for the government! There is a restaurant on site (didn't check it out) and a food truck that was closed. Bishop still lives in Pueblo. The man in the gift shop said he hadn't been up to the castle for 2 days (which surprised him) and that he was depressed over the recent loss of his dog.

Wow! Those birds of paradise are stunning and amazing creatures! Great video!

Ava, where will the cats go? To a shelter I suppose? Too bad for all concerned (other than those at the park there). Wonder why it took so long to get her out of there?

I worked all day today and then after work, I went to pick up a couple of bar stools I found on Craigslist last week. They are really nice and brand new condition, for only $25 for both. They will be perfect for the breakfast bar in the new place! Also got the new ferret cage I ordered last week, but still have to put it together. :? It is a nice big cage with large doors for easy access and cleaning. They will have 4 levels to run around in! Got a good deal on that at Amazon with free shipping to boot! :D

I didn't see any snowflakes last night but one of my customers did. I guess there was snow both north and south of here overnight. Just not ready for that stuff yet!

Hope you all have a great night! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
