While waiting in this lounge TV has programs of interest. How items are made, who invented etc. Did any of you know "a woman invented windshield wipers " ?? back in the 1920's probably before females were allowed to vote.

On one of those shows, I also learned that a 16-year-old girl rode twice as far as Paul Revere in the dark to knock on doors and gather a militia to fight the British! She rode 40 miles in the rain and beat off a highwayman with a long stick! Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sybil_Ludington

Seeing all these farm equipments in KS reminds me that the international harvester was invented by a woman! I think she registered it under a fictitious name, a mans name, as she thought her invention would not be accepted as being from a woman. Lyn

She probably got tired of asking her husband to clean off the windshield, and/or hearing him complain about it!

Her husband probably made HER jump out in the rain to clear the windshield while he sat inside, warm and dry.
