Operator Error

Didn't sleep well last night so drove tired. Pulled into New Cordell, OK and stopped by the police department to pay my $10 to stay in their city park. Thought I had rig in park but didn't so it rolled forward over a 4x4 piece of wood and hit the post just enough to put a dent in the fender AND knock the sewer pipe loose so its dragging on the ground. I call the police department and ask the woman if there is an RV repair person in town. She says "no" but her husband works on their RV all the time so she sends her husband over.

God was watching out for me and it only knocked the clamp off the pipe - all he had to do was put pipe back together and tighten the clamp. He checked and said he didn't see any other damage but we will see when I try to dump tomorrow. At least nothing spilled out - thank heavens! He refused to take any money for helping me. Don't you love small towns.

My first ding in this rig (and hopefully the last).

You are so lucky in so many ways. Minor damage and it, hopefully, fixed at no charge. So glad you and the rig are good to go. And a lesson for all of us, don't drive tired, and be extra careful if you have to. Years ago, super tired, stopped at a stop light, I let my foot up from my brake and rolled into the car in front of me. I also was lucky, but scared the hell out of me. This is a good reminder to me.

yes, you were very lucky.
Two of my driving days home I pushed my luck by driving when I was having hard time staying awake. Not good.

Thankfully, you were in a nice flat state instead of someplace like Colorado! I have always been afraid of walking away from my motorhome and seeing it head down the road or off a cliff!

Not good to drive tired, but I know we have to sometimes.

Karen, it doesn't sound like you hit the sewer pipe hard enough, but check the valves for cracks.

I think we all get the 'don't drive tired' message to sink in the hard way!

Yep. Been there done all of that. Just put a nice long scratch along the side of my motorhome because I tried to park at myself when I was exhausted. It's a large club – we should have jackets.
