Sounds very exciting. I hope you post as you travel. I'm very curious about train travel in the U.S.
Your enthusiasm is contagious.

Have a great trip and have fun, Donna! Peggy has some fabulous stuff planned for you!

Please keep us posted about your trip. I love trains and traveled frequently (from home to grandparents house) on them as a child. Might be neat to ride train again.
Are you traveling on AMTRAC?

have a great time and enjoy your train ride. I took a train ride from Oakland CA to Denver CO once, had a private room n all. It was fun and the scenery was beautiful, took a day and a night. Then a couple times rode the train from Denver to Topeka KS. It was just an overnight and I slept most of the way. But I do like riding the train :D

In Dec of 88, I booked us a family room on Amtrak from Sacramento to Kansas for hubby, and the two boys (then 6 and 8) and I to spend holidays with hubby's family. We had such fun with meals in the dining car, turn down service by our porter, and we made Christmas ornaments while we road the rails and watched the scenery go by. Coming back was an adventure because the only route was to travel further east close to Chicago to catch a train back west via SLC and the Sierras. Best vacation ever.
I know you will have fun and meet interesting people.
