well, I must admit even though I love the rain, (only because we never get any) I've had enough of the flooding. We just had a
big storm go through here this afternoon and the water and wind wreaked havoc in the city, most of the damage being on
the west side though. However, the ditch behind my lot ..... well, its full and the washout has creeped up to within 3' of
my gate. There is no road anymore behind my gate but I know since I've moved here they do come around with the blade
and scrape it off so perhaps as soon as it dries up they will do some repair. All this storm rolling through here in the middle
of me coloring my hair  and I'm trying to keep the water cleaned up in the kitchen cabinet. :( Seeing how my cheap
repairman never made it over to reseal the seam up on the roof....guess I'll call an expert and pay the big bucks to get it
done. I can't keep going through this and the damage its causing. I took a drive through the park and down on the far corner, the southwest corner, it was really flooded down there and as I drove through it, I momentarily thought it was a bad idea
but I knew the pavement was there and I drove slow so as not to get any washup into my engine. All these storms we've been
getting have sure been big ones. Most of the flooding comes from the fact that this city has minimal storm drains and in the
low areas they have pumps to keep the water pumped out but with the power outages, I guess the generators are not keeping
up. Guess I'll get some dinner and call it a night.

Ava, I read about that storm and was wondering how it affected you. Glad your trailer didn't get flooded! You have had a lot of rain down there this summer!

Martha, keeping prayers going for your hubby! Stay strong and get some rest!

Martha hope your DH is doing better and can come on soon. Take care of yourself too.

Went to LeClair, Iowa today wanted to scope out the area by the lock for eagle watching in the winter. There is an eagle reserve on the Illinois side of the Mississippi, but its closed October thru April, so I'm guessing they have lots of eagles there.

Went to the Buffalo Bill Cody museum in LeClair, then back over to Illinois to the lock & dam. You can walk almost all the way up to the dam. Lots of turtles, mallards, a trumpeter swam and a lot of pelicans. Anyone know why they like to ride the flow from the dam? I saw some at Starved Rock last weekend and they did the same thing at that lock on the Illinois River.

Just wanted to let everyone know that if you are interested in visiting the Chicago area (we have many excellent museums, aquariums and botanical gardens plus tons of other interesting sights to see) you are always welcome to park at my house. I'm only 35 miles from the city and have plenty of room. Likewise if you are just passing thru!

(p.s. just don't ask me to be a tour guide--I think that's Cheryl's department! lol)
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

 What?!? Just because I'm always wandering somewhere? (like the Mississippi yesterday)

Welcome back - glad the trip to the gtg & Branson was a good one but bummer about the noisy morning neighbors.

Yep, that would be why. Also because I don't drive in Chicago. Ever.

No need to drive in Chicago, although I did commute years ago. A couple years back when I was in town we took public transportation in. So easy. It's still my favorite large city. But a visit once in a while is plenty for me. Will remember your offer next time. Last time I got permission to dry camp in a auto repair shops lot and a bar/restaurants lot. Both bordered residential areas and I preferred to the K Mart close by that allowed overnighting. I didn't take my car that trip and all my old friends were coming to me. The auto repair owner said I was getting more traffic than his business lol
