Sitting in Carthage, MO beat up from fighting wind all day and a bum knee from my roll over into the lake 2 days ago, so I'm gonna have a bottle of that beer to help me sleep! 87 bottles of beer on the wall, 87 bottles of beer, take one down to help me sleep, 86 bottles of beer on the wall!!

Thanks Lori for keeping the Campfire going and I'm also gonna soak in that hot tub you so very kindly cleaned!

Sharon, how did you manage to roll an inflatable kayak? I didn't think you could roll one of those!

Yes, it's possible. I know from experience. :(

It has been an unnecessarily difficult driving day thanks to the sick sense of humor my GPS seems to have developed (maybe the solar flair fried it) . You wouldn't believe where all I've been accidentally exploring parts of MO on county roads when there was a perfectly nice US highway I could have taken.. So tired this may be dinner

Tonights sun set not as nice as I've had but pretty clouds and I have a level parking spot

I never trust my gps. I plan my route, then make my gps go my way. It helps me if there is a detour or I decide to turn at some interesting site etc, but I don't let it plan my route. Some of you may remember when I was driving on the beach in Port Lavaca and I took a picture of my gps telling me to turn into the water.

My GPS once insisted I take what can only by described as a pair of ruts through very thick woods. It was supposedly even called "Bluebird lane". I came to a dead stop and then drove to a real road. Sorry yours made your drive so rough. It is bad enough to take a long route in a car let alone an RV!!!

I gave up on my GPS long ago. It would send me on wild goose chases all over the place! Luckily, I usually looked at Google Maps before leaving so I had a good idea of what route I wanted to go anyways and would know not to follow directions from my GPS if it sounded wrong. Later, I only used it to find out where certain stores were, in an unfamiliar area I happened to be in. Worked pretty good for that.

We had just gotten Ms Magellan and were driving down a country lane in Oregon near my BFFs farm when MS M told me to turn right and dinged for the road. I turned and no more than got wheels straight and MS M said, make a legal U turn as soon as possible. Mel and I looked at each other and knew we would not be relying on Ms M without weighing her decision first. Later that summer we wanted to get off interstate and take highway in Texas. Ms M was not happy and every small dirt path to a farm house she would yell at him to make a right turn on "farmer xx's" road. In our 40 ft GMC bus! Yeah right. On the other hand, Ms M is quite helpful around here finding addresses we are not familiar with. So Ms M is sometimes trusted, sometimes ignored much to her unhappiness.

I had a problem once with my old auto GPS trying to send me up driveways and paths in the woods. Discovered that it had apparently set itself to hiking paths!

It used to fall off the dashboard often, so I assume that one time when it fell it must have made that internal adjustment.

Beth, have you found anything to eventually replace Streets&Trips? Or do u plan to stick with it until the bitter end, when all private campgrounds in its database cease to exist? I can't believe end-users haven't caused a stir with Microsoft to continue with S&T...you don't need internet to use it. That's such a beautiful point!

I never really used it's data base to find places much. Yes, until it quits working or another good off line service comes about, I'll continue planning trips with S&T's.

Someone suggested I look into: http://www.mapsphere.com/
Have not downloaded it yet - but it looks like it could be a good program for how I use S&T's. Might give it a try.

Edit - not what I want at all ... going to remove it from my puter.
