I failed in the photo department on Tuesday - dead battery stayed on charger most of the day so unless one of the other ladies share, all you get is a brief description for day 2.
Tina and I have been watching a flock of large white water fowl since our arrival. At first we thought they were either swans or geese. One finally got close enough to see its beak. Now I don't associate white pelicans with KS but am almost certain that is what they must be - no other bird has a pouch like that - keep forgetting to have Birdie take a look at them.
Tina decided to bathe Stuart in the lake late Tuesday morning. I missed a perfect butt shot of her soaping him up before turning him loose to swim.
Karen wanted to see if she could get in/out of kayak before buying her own. Tina inflated hers and provided a lesson on entry and exit. I did take a couple of pictures with Karen's camera but not sure she will fight Photobucket to post on forum. It was too windy for them to get out to play in the lake.
Most of the rest of the day was visiting while we waited for others to arrive.

Still no camera when Sharon arrived but ready for Sandi and her fur babies

Wednesday morning sunrise. Look how smooth the water is. I so wanted to wake the kayakers to go out as it was the first- and so far only time - the wind died down.
Another beautiful day but it didn't take long for the wind to return.

Late morning Sandi and Birdie made a trip into Council Grove. The rest of us waited for Lynn who arrived around mid day.

We had earlier decided to go to the Hays House for the Wed. chicken buffet at 4:00. Lynn was tired so did not join us.

The Hays House is only a couple of blocks from the Neosho River crossing on the Santa Fe Trail so we walked down to take a look.

I did not walk across the bridge to markers but others did and they took photos. I found this covered wagon (early RV) near park entrance and a large mural down ally way.

Drove thru the other two smaller campgrounds in this complex on the way back. All nice but we like Canning Creek the best.
Then it was time for wine and more visiting but not until Nicky had a chance to play lap dog.
