finally some good news!!!!
I called my nephew today to see what the status on my truck was
the last I'd heard the shipping company in this case UPS had lost the part and
the company he had ordered it from had another one they just needed to compare
numbers to see if it was the correct one...cause I'd not heard from Sean I had assumed
that it didn't...but today I called and he said that the part showed up last night so it's in and it
WORKS!!! now he is doing the checking that I had taken it down for
and also to have the a/c worked on not that it is needed right now but one can never tell later on
in the South West
so thankful for the part just mysteriously showing up
so it looks like come mid Oct I'll be able to leave for SLC
still not sure how long I'll remain there

Glad your part finally showed up. Hope your nephew can get your truck running great. Lately when we order something somewhere along the way UPS transfers it to the post office to be delivered. The only problem with that is that if the package won't fit in our box and we are not home they won't leave it like UPS will.

Transferring the package to the USPS is basically out of the hands of both UPS and FedEx. Both carriers have options to save the shipper money by actually delivering it through the USPS. FedEx option is called SmartPost and UPS option is called SurePost. Also, depending on how the labels are formatted, you may not be able to actually track the package.

I know that with FedEx all packages that the shipper sends using SmartPost carry the same tracking number, so you may only be able to track some packages as far as the delivery to the post office for final delivery. We use of these options where I work and it does save money, but sometimes dealing with any carrier is a pain in the neck (compliance issues, etc).

Hi from Duluth, MN!
Been a very busy 4 days up here on the North Shore of Lake Superior! Tons of waterfalls, some pretty fall colors starting on the maples, too much road construction, wicked winds causing huge waves on the lake that would make a surfer drool, not enough agates on the beaches, very few animals seen, and not enough time to do and see everything I wanted to do and see. But I am sore and exhausted from all the hiking, driving, and agate hunting!
The cabin I stayed in was very nice with a great view of a large waterfall which lulled me to sleep each night. Tonight I am in Duluth in a noisy motel. Tomorrow I am going to the Zoo across the street in the morning before heading for home.
Will give more details and pics in a day or two. Am just using my Nook right now.

Barbie, good to hear from you. I was able to go kyacking out of Deluth years ago. Stayed inside the breakwater tho! Agates galore up in Nova Scotia when you get a chance. All shinned by the waves! Lyn

All the agates I found were pea sized or smaller. No big "lakers", as they call them. Looking for them right after a storm or unusually high waves is a good time to look since the rocks are all stirred up and new ones surface, but I didn't have much luck. I did find a fist sized geode that was open with crystals inside. That was cool. And a piece of driftwood that looked just like the head of a seagull. Really wanted to find that prized agate tho. Used to find lots of pretty, good-sized agates when I was a kid, along the sides of roads. Don't know what I ever did with them. We found so many that we didn't really appreciate them as much back then.

I left Keystone today and meandered less than 100 miles to the Badlands.


Remember that snow a couple days ago? Well, 80's, sunny and beautiful today. Poor Peaches got left in the rig while I did some sightseeing. Yes, a blog post will be forthcoming, one of these days.

If all goes well will only drive about 100 or so miles tomorrow, then will follow it with about the same Thursday into my next job. That hoping I find a good Boondocking spot in the area I've picked out. If not might just go the full distance.

Good News!!! my truck is fixed Yea!!!
the computer chip finally came got put in worked and I reminded Sean that
I needed the A/C checked and there was also that pump of some sort that needed checked
and then I didn't hear from him...so I was assuming that it was the pump and waiting for a part..
till this am he called said it was ready!!! yea then he said what happened was the computer chip was working then it
quit so had to see why turned out it was a cable to the computer chip so he is sending the one back
and the pump isn't showing any signs of trouble he thinks it got dirty and finally worked it's way out...and charged the A/C
will need that going to be down in AZ earlier than normal
Some what aggravated though decided not to go to the gtg cause of the cost of the truck
and turns out it wasn't much at all ..for a diesel will go down soon and get the truck and now to finish the
stuff that needs to be done on the trailer

I'm in Fort Pierre, SD tonight, right across the river from Pierre. Did some touring this afternoon. Now I'm behind two blog posts lol. Will arrive at my new job tomorrow.

In Eugene, Oregon, at a county campground with free WiFi and using my new booster. It is really wonderful. I've been in so many campgrounds that advertised free WiFi but couldn't use it because the signal was so weak. No more. I highly recommend one.

I swear I am feeling my advanced age more and more. I visited Newberry National Volcanic Park and barely walked around, then drove 186 miles, and I am absolutely exhausted!! Stiff and sore, with a slight migraine headache and I can't find my migraine pills so had to take something else. Wish they had better stuff for migraines, but my doctor last May said unfortunately not. I get them in clusters and then they go away for weeks and months. Bright sunlight driving does not help.

Tomorrow is a stay-put and work day. (Also, a relax on my butt day. Glad I replaced my dinette with my recliner when I bought this thing!) Got two online classes to get ready to open for students on Monday, and tons of changes, so am scrambling to get things in the right places and make sure all my instructions make sense. Will be a disaster in terms of student questions if I do not--especially with 45 in one class and 25 in another!
