Oh Red, I don't believe this latest news! What next does the universe hold for you? Are you a friend of Missy in South Dakota? Do you both share a birthday? I was so looking forward to meeting you and DH. Well, down the road someday......Lyn

Gosh Red,
You do deserve a break. Glad to know you are all right but wish we could help support you somehow with everything you're getting hit with lately. I mean really, bees???? on top of a potential heart attack & everything else????

Please take good care of yourself. We miss you & hope you are able to get some rest & get healthy once again.

Still looking forward to meeting you in person - when the time is right.
Take care,
Catherine

Chris/Red, you are following in my steps, a path you should avoid. Hopefully your tests will turn out as well as mine and you can get back to a more even keel. Ack on bees, years ago we had been out in the yard working when I came in to use the potty. On my way down the hall I saw a wasp near the ceiling. Thought we had let it in. Then saw another, and another. Turned out the suckers had gotten into the attic and ate their way through the Sheetrock into my newly sheetrocked remodeled section and were streaming down into the hall. Ended up having to call a speciaIst to cut a big hole in said new section and kill a huge nest and pull it out. I was not happy to have my new ceiling cut up but was happy to get rid of the nasty creatures. I hope you do as well.
Get well quick. I know tooo well how being a caregiver can wear on you.

So sorry you can't make it Chris. Take care of yourself.

I made it to Salt Lake City today. Spent 2 nights at Thomas Canyon in the Ruby Mtns. Posted some pics in the General section. Tomorrow it's on to Dinosaur Nat'l Monument. See you all next week. Drive safely everyone.

Catherine, my driving directions have me coming through Kansas City on I-35 which looks like it takes us directly through the town. Would it be easier/better to take the bypass 435? With our timetable I'm afraid we'll hit KC at rush hour.

Kansas City doesn't have a tough rush hour - compared to San Diego or LA.
I-35 is more direct, but yes, you will come straight thru town. If you take 435 on the west side you can skip some slowdowns, if you take it on the east side, you'll still encounter quite a bit of traffic.
I leave work between 4:30 - 5 & take I-35 for a bit (I pick it up just a little south of downtown) - It does move slow lately since they are have closed one very popular exit right now. After writing this, west 435 would probably be less stressful. It adds some miles, but it is nice & wide & should move fairly well.

Be safe & feel free to call me (I'll pm you) if you have any questions.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'll be coming out Thursday morning... so... if anyone thinks of something they'd like me to pick up from Costco, Sam's or from anywhere in the 'city', feel free to let me know Wed evening. I know I'll be stopping by for ice & many other last minute impulse items before I head out. (I'll be in panic mode by then so who knows what I'll end up with - this is my one vice - I don't want anyone starving while visiting KS)
Anyway, for those arriving early if you find you need something, just let me know & I'll grab it on the way there.

Spending a second day at Dinosaur National Monument in the Green River CG (posted a couple pics in Morning Coffee today). Wonderful weather so far and keeping fingers crossed. I'll head into Colorado tomorrow. I should arrive next Thursday or it could possibly be a couple days early. I'll just have to see how it all goes. I have no idea where I'm staying between here and Council Grove.

Thats the beauty of having an rv...you can travel without a clue as to where you're going to stay! Ain't it fun? :D

So true, Sharon.
I checked out a casino on the TN/MO line. Decided not to stay however as they wanted $40.00 a night for RV. Need to find one like Liz had where they gave her much better rate, free food and $$$ to play slots.
My reservation at Canning Creek starts Sunday…..Since Mitch and Vickie cancelled, Tina and I may be the only ones arriving that early. So looking forward to meeting everyone.

This is my first large gtg with y'all and I know it will be lots of fun! Do we have potluck plans? I like to cook when camping so I don't mind making something. I can also cook good gluten free things, so if anyone needs this kind of diet let me know and I will bring gluten free baked goods also. I am trying to decide how much food to load my Motorhome with. I will probably leave Wednesday from Texas. I was up north last week but had to drive home due to DH taking ill.. He is fine now so I am still coming.

The Northeast contingency is coming... Carolb and I are coming to Kansas. We were going to surprise everybody, but I'm too excited. You know how much I wanted to be there. Carol is crazy enough to drive half way across the country and back again. How cool is that. We'll be going in her rig and sharing the cost and driving if she gives up the wheel.
We're leaving NY on Tuesday and should join you on Thursday or whenever...
See you soon. Peggy

Hi Claudia,

I'm new to this too, but what I've been told... is to plan on a couple of potluck nights & maybe one breakfast.

I had thought Friday night would be a good night for potluck since everyone should be there by then & then the group can decide on the other ones. The rest of the time, we eat together but don't necessarily have a big potluck - just whatever you like to eat

I'm bringing slabs of ribs & maybe some smoked turkey from the newest & best BBQ place in Kansas City so folks can get a taste of KC BBQ.
I'm also bringing makings for sausage gravy & biscuits.
I'm not sure about what I'll contribute on the other potluck - debating between chili, beef stew or something totally differnt. Might have to decide once we get there & take a drive into the Apple Market in town.

Kathy (GingerK) has said she is bringing cowboy beans (a cross between baked beans & chili)

Here are what some of the more experienced members have said:
sharon wrote:I don't care when the potluck is, just let me know. How about a breakfast potluck on Sunday morning? Pajama party? :D Rest of the time just bring your dinner or breakfast and eat with the crew.

BirdbyBird wrote:Those of us that are arriving a little earlier will surely find reasons to pool food resources and share campfire before Friday...don't worry, bring food to share, we will eat! And though the plans sound like "jello" I promise that no one starves no matter how little planning we do ahead of time! :)

I know I'm overthinking & overplanning for this - I just hope to travel home with the van much lighter than when I head out there.

Peggy, just saw your post!!!!!!!!!!!! I might be more excited than either of you!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D and heck with Carolb driving you might get here on Wed!
