Wet Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wet Monday

Postby Pooker » Mon Sep 08, 2014 7:50 am

Happy Monday, everyone! Going to be a wet one for those of us in the southwest. Remnants of a Pacific hurricane. Son and I will leave earlier than expected to head to Laughlin, NV because I got a weather notice of heavy rain with flash flooding coming our way and then pushing out to the desert. You never want to be crossing the desert when heavy rain is on its way because the flash floods come out of nowhere. I think (hope) Sharon may have missed it yesterday since she was going the same route. However, some areas around here got severe flooding and you could just see the tops of cars that got caught in it.

Flitter handles pretty well in stormy conditions, but I really don't want to test her if I can help it. Monsoon weather will make it hot and wet in Laughlin. Shucks, I suppose that means I'll have to spend most of my time in casinos, or the outlet mall, or a movie. It's the son's birthday this week and I promised him a camping trip and Laughlin was his choice! Think of me having so much fun with 2 adults, one 67 lb dog and one ticked off cat in a 26' RV in the rain! Aren't you jealous?

Evie, good to see you starting MC! Sounds like you will be having a fun trip! At least interesting! Yes, the casinos are a good place to be in the rain!

No casinos where I am going so I will be hiking in the rain or holding out in the cabin. Shopping is also a good thing to do on rainy days! :D

Off to work and then to my golf banquet.

Have a great day, rain or shine! :D

Have a good trip Evie. I have been watching the weather and hope Sharon can get ahead of it. We have been getting rain almost every day. I'm afraid we are going to start mildewing. The only thing I dislike more than casinos is bingo. I am suppose to make 3 cakes and work the cake bingo next Sunday as a fund raiser for our club. Someone just shoot me!

Where is everyone this morning?

Good Morning,

Nice to see your post, Evie. Have fun on this birthday trip!

According to FB, Sharon hadn't floated away yet 2 hours ago! Ava, can't imagine what all this rain is like for you!

Barbie, can't wait to hear what your prizes are.

Martha, sorry I can't take your place at Bingo!

Daughter, 3 grands and I had lunch together yesterday. Grandson, younger granddaughter and I went to the zoo while daughter ran errands. Older granddaughter wanted to work on her knitting!

Today will be about cleaning! Then tonight will go with family and watch grandson's fencing lesson.

Everyone have a great day and safe travels to all on the road!

Good Morning, This person here is being lazy, Martha !!  Looks like rain here earlier today then forecast predicts. Its overcast and gloomy outside and time flew by and I didn't realize how late it was. Had planned to go up front and visit and get a load of clothes washed, so much for good intentions Don't relish walking back in the rain with my clean clothes, so we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Little concerned about my DD who went up for my GS's graduation from boot camp, then on up into VA. Haven't heard or seen her on FB, so not sure if she's home sleeping or at work, or driving. She's a very independent person and tolerates my concerns but not gracefully. Besides SAt eve I had 10 percent of my ph time left and Sun I was notified I had used all. Free wk ends, not sure what's going on. Last month I went over, I almost can believe that but this month I have been very careful and paid attention to how much I used my phone, so I'm wishing I had a way into a store where I could talk face to face with a person, sure can't afford to call and get the run around, not good for my stress problem :D

Getting things situated in here where it will be ready to travel. Next week sometime my sis is picking me up, will go stay with her for awhile. I'll get my hair cut and fixed, go see eye dr, take Maggie to get her nails trimmed, they need it bad, poor baby. I know of no place here to do any of these things, if I did have transportation. My BIL is always wanting to take me wherever, going to give him that chance this visit. :D

After dr visit will have idea when I'll make trip to NC. Before I leave to go to my sisters want to have things arranged where won't be much to do, to get on the road. Hoping for latter part of October for change of leaves, Love that time of year up there.

Will soon not be morning, so better shut up here, Have a good day everyone !!
Stay Safe wherever and whatever your plans are,
CArol :)

Good morning,

I still have a few minutes before that changes. It is hot, hot, hot outside, typical Fl. Sept. weather. I can only sigh in envy when I read some of you are starting to get cooler weather. :)

As I read all the wonderful things you all do I wonder to myself, how did they ever work? If what I read is retirement then I'm ready!

CArol do you have time for one more visit before you go to your sister's? How about next weekend? I could pick you up and we'll come to my house for a cook out maybe on Saturday?

Sunday we are going to a dutch oven gathering in Bradenton. It's really too hot to cook but we're getting restless to start. We'll be having the Sunshine State Dutch Oven Gathering in February at Hardee Lakes County Park. I think Melissa should come down and compete in the cook off!

Safe travels to all as you start to migrate to your winter homes.

Hugs,
Vicki/Oma

High 80s today, but by Thursday we should have our first frost--about two weeks earlier than "average first frost".

I love the autumn transition and early winter so I am stacking up the firewood!

Would love to but I don't think it's in the cards yet. Is this there FB page? https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cracker- ... 4634998025 it looks like fun. I hope to get things under control in the next 12 months that we can start traveling again. I get 3 weeks vacation start this January so anything is possible.

Ok, for my golf team winning, we each got a Macy's gift card for $45. For winning the tournament, I got a $50 gift card for Golfsmith golf shop. Now I can finally afford to buy some golf shoes! :D I have never shopped at Macy's, so not sure what I will look for there.

Just getting last minute stuff done before tomorrow. I work from 9-2, then stop home, change clothes, finish packing and head out for the 5+ hour drive to the cabin. Will make a couple stops along the way for potty breaks and a quick dinner. Am hoping the skies are clear up along Lake Superior so I can see the Super Moon over the lake. Supposed to be stormy tomorrow tho, both here and up north, so we'll see...

Will have my Nook with me so if I can find some WiFi up there, I will try to post on here when I can.

Good night!
