Catherine, I won't be there, but I highly suggest picking days for potlucks and letting everyone do their thing. Except for your ribs. :-) It always seems to work and the variety is wonderful.

Thanks, Mitch. I can use all the advice I can get. (And I'm sure I'll get alot once everyone is there!  )

How does potluck sound on Friday evening & then either on Saturday or Sunday - the group can choose once we get settled. Bring what you love, like or can. Remember the grocery store in town has a tin man next to its driveway. :D

(By the way, I figure everyone will do exactly as they want - no matter what. - we are an independent group of gals after all)

Safe travels...

Potluck Friday night is ok by me but I don't know what time we'll roll in, we have about a 10 hr. drive counting pit stops. I'm bringing the Cowboy beans.

I'm arriving Monday 9/15 - which Friday is the potluck?? Maybe a Weds (or?) would be good for a potluck since we all seem to be arriving on different dates. My only plan (hopefully) is to go into the little town, sightsee, lunch and maybe museum??? Would like to hitch a ride if anyone else wants to do this so I don't have to unhook.

I am sooooo ready to hit the road. Hope its cooler up there than here in Texas!!

Karen, since the actual GTG dates are the Friday, 19 - Monday, 22, I'm sure she meant Friday the 19th.

Just an FYI that really is of no importance, but I will be gone all day Saturday and probably Saturday night. My daughter picked that weekend for the annual GTG at their house.

OK, showing my ignorance here. What is a "tin man?" Is that a Midwest term?

Sandi, this is from a previous post of Catherine's: Council Grove is a small town - with some historical sightseeing if you're interested. There is a nicely stocked Apple Market (grocery store) - just look for the Tin Man at it's driveway. :D Prices were reasonable. There are a couple of fast food places - DQ, subway, etc. There is also the Hayes House Restuarant which we may have to visit. Here's a link to the town's website - http://councilgrove.com/ if you want to know more.

I'm going to hazard a guess that the Tin Man looks like he came from the Wizard of Oz - remember you will be in Kansas now!

Oh yeah, I read about the Hayes House Restaurant...one of, if not the, oldest continously operating restaurants in the US. I certainly plan on having a meal there. Plus there is a walking tour of the town to burn off the calories either before or after!

I don't care when the potluck is, just let me know. How about a breakfast potluck on Sunday morning? Pajama party? :D Rest of the time just bring your dinner or breakfast and eat with the crew.

Those of us that are arriving a little earlier will surely find reasons to pool food resources and share campfire before Friday...don't worry, bring food to share, we will eat! And though the plans sound like "jello" I promise that no one starves no matter how little planning we do ahead of time! :)

Thanks for the clarification, everyone. Yes, I meant Friday, the 19th.
If you're pulling in after a long drive that day, I bet we'll have enough to share & then we can taste your yummies one of the other days.
Sharon, I like the idea of a potluck breakfast & I'm game for going into town. I can drive in as long as it's not too hot for Sadie to stay in the van while we eat. (hint, hint, hint: Everyone needs to start praying for cool weather.) We can see what the consensus is when folks are there.

Tina, I agree I doubt anyone will starve - especially being a part of this group of independent, self-sustaining women! :D

I just hope everyone enjoys themselves & doesn't worry too much about anything. It's going to be a blast getting to know everyone!

Woohoo!
