G'morning all:)

Wow, bad quake! Glad to hear our peoples & their families are okay. Fortunately, according to news, no deaths....Sarah, so happy to hear about Nicky :D

Not much going on for me. Think I've accomplished all the "big" projects I wanted to do. Now, just harvesting & getting veggies put away for winter. Would love to strap a freezer to the back of my HarBor so I can take them all with me  Alas, they'll be here for me when I return in spring...

Labor Day Wkend--now we're talking "summer over" :( except for those on the road who follow the sun ;)

Y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

Rainy U.P. morning

Postby Colliemom » Mon Aug 25, 2014 6:58 am

Morning all,

Raining here in the west central U.P. Was supposed to leave here today, but have decided to wait one more day and let this front pass by. It's moving east and will be heading for the northern lower as well. Although forecasters are not predicting any severe weather at this time, they are saying that rain will be heavy at times and also possibility of strong gusty winds and maybe even a little hail possible, so no use heading along with it. Plus going to be pretty warm and humid down home with highs in mid 80's. It's been so nice and cool up here since I left home, that doesn't appeal to me at all. It's a bit muggy here right now from the rain, but it's been ideal weather temp wise. Sorry those of you living down south and in the Midwest are experiencing such hot weather. Hope I can send some cooler air your way.

Put my patio mat away last night in anticipation of leaving this morning, but will get it back out as it's pretty muddy next to my trailer right now. But water is soaking into ground, so that's good.

Anita, hope you find a place to settle down for holiday weekend. Sarah, hope Nicky is feeling much better this morning. Glad those of you in CA are okay after the earthquake and loved ones are as well.

Just cereal and strawberries here this morning. Larder is going down. Don't need to do any shopping but will have empty rfridge when I get home, so will definitely have to do some then :) I have ribs in freezer here for possible BBQ tonigh along with some corn. Shall see what happens as far as that is concerned.

You all have a wonderful day out there today.

Good Morning !!!! Sun is out here, but rain coming later today, actually storms, they were not certain how strong , which is so encouraging and winds will be high in some areas. The wind business is what caught my attention, and they were too uncertain on how high etc. But we have a "Cold Front" coming !!!! Yay !!!!! it will ONLY be in the low 90's. Isn't that wonderful ??? This northern chick can't appreciate it too much, my bad !!!, and I know people in some areas, Ava for one would sure appreciate it.

Sue, do you have a good book to curl up on your couch with ?? My favorite thing to do and of course a nap in rainy times. Oops the sun is gone !! Maggies prancing, maybe the storm is coming sooner then I thought, she's my weather gauge :D

This next week end a holiday ?? sure caught me off guard. Usually into Sept a few days at least. My DD and family will be leaving for SC for my GS graduation from boot camp. They're all real excited.

Just turned water heater off, so guess its time to get in shower and use some of it. Guy, came around reading elec meters this morning, each bill jerks my heart around, Oh well for a private CG it's not bad. Everyone's gone Noth, but some are on their way back, I'll probably start feeling claustrophobic before I leave here

Must get movin' , have a great day all and be safe,
CArol :)
So glad to hear Nicki is doing better. Wondering also if you're in CG I was in '12 for my GS rodeo, Anita?? There was CG out by rodeo grounds but had a friend with me and she didn't want to stay way out there  I try always to be nice to guest. The one we stayed in very popular not far from interstate. Enjoy you tine there.

Good morning. I spent yesterday AM running around like a crazy woman trying to get the house staged as best I could before realtor and appraiser came. I was hampered a bit cuz when I opened one of the storage sheds out back a huge swarm of wasps came at me. The good news is only one sting. Bad news, I got stung on my left boob. :o Ouch. I was not wearing a bra. I went on with showing the property twice. Went really good. Appraisals were much higher than we anticipated ( however, in this market we'll have to pay more for a house :-(. Spend the afternoon tending my wound with hot compresses and epson salt. This AM whole half of my breast is swollen, throbbing and fire red with a pustule where the sting was. Took Benadryl last night. Didn't help much. So, after the vampire (nurse) comes for DH's blood and the next set of realtors come this AM, I am off to the doc, then a mani-pedi. ;) Hope everyone has a great day. Stay safe.

Good Morning,

I was just typing away and post disappeared!

Glad to know everyone is okay in the earthquake area!

Carolb, can't you strap a freezer on the roof??

Red, my daughter is a beekeeper and, even with her 'outfit', she got stung in the throat. Wind was blowing the netting up against her (think she has changed to stronger protection). She felt funny so headed to the house and told her hubby to call 911. Took Benadryl, felt better so canceled the 911. However, in the country and the deputy sheriff came to the door. She got up to go tell him she was okay. He caught her arm as she fainted and headed for the floor! She had quite a bruise where he grabbed her, but she tends to bruise easily. Glad you are seeing a doctor. And, yes, did the soot clean up and if so, what method did you use.

Donna, you have accomplished so much this summer so now enjoy!!

Most people say they get lonely when traveling by themselves, but I really enjoy these times. Perhaps it is because I am used to having alone time from Steven's long working day. I am glad this week isn't flying by!

Everyone have a great day and safe travels.

Good Morning All, WOW! Lots of news today. I personally do not have any, same ole, same ole around here. Was glad to hear from JudyJB about her son and family. Red, that is a shame about the left boob! And Donna...what a glorious relief for you! I can feel your happyness over the internet! Carol, wish those veggies were closer to me!
I too mark my maps when reading about RVSUE, Nikki. She sure finds some neat campgrounds. Where are people reading about Sarah's Nicky? I'm happy he is doing well.
It will be time to leave for KS before long! Get to get working on my menus! lyn

Good morning
I've been posting about Nicky on the morning coffee thread but some times late at night. He is doing so well now that I let him walk around in back yard off leash this morning. He did a brief patrol, found a tree then came back to the porch. I had kept him on leash all weekend because didn't want to take chance he might run if a chipmunk went by - tho I doubt he would have.
I've been useless all weekend in terms of accomplishing anything other than seeing to Nicky. Need to get some motivation to concentrate on some other tasks today. At least the excessive heat warning has been lifted - only low 90s remainder of week with slight drop in humidity.
Hope you have something fun planned for your day.

Good Morning, Another hot one :( but weather man is promising only one more day. He better be right! Red OUCH! That bite must be really painful. Anita, when you loose a post do the forward arrow at the top and if that doesn't bring it back try the backward one. I nearly always find my poof ones like that. Carolb I'm sure you will find another project that needs your attention and if not, come this way!!
Donna, glad your yard sale is over and that it went well. Lyn, do you have plans to visit along your way west? I sure wish it looked better for me to get there, I would be tempted to go home with you. Right now though it is all I can do to keep up with this little one here, not sure I would make it on the road with her! Sarah, so glad to hear Nicky is improving and that your temps are going down.

Yesterday morning I was on the computer and all of a sudden realized the TV was on. I looked over and Toby and Mitzi were on the couch looking innocent, but the clicker was between them. I told them they were too little for cartoons

I think I need another breakfast, it is a long time till lunch. Oh, made me think, DH was fixing his breakfast when he came back from the gym. He was getting stuff out of the refrigerator and had a cooked sausage in one hand. All of a sudden I heard him yell, what are you doing!! Toby was standing beside him and DH was looking all around. He said Toby took the sausage right out of his hand and must have swallowed it whole. I checked the floor & found it under the edge of the counter. I had to laugh the look on his face was so funny plus he usually never gets that excited about anything.

Wednesday my sabbatical is over, and this past week I have been scurrying to finish my sabbatical projects on time. I finished the cookbook Sunday afternoon and gave it to a couple of folks to preview. It is a church project-- treasured recipes that started with the German settlers here one hundred + years ago. Antelope Alley Publishing (my company) is publishing the book but giving it to the church at cost, making it a fundraiser.

The second project, the confirmation curriculum titled, Faith Eyes, SHOULD be finished in the next few days...or darn close. A curriculum requires so much detailed stuff. The plan is to Beta test it one more time this fall (with adults, who love it too) and then publish. I won't have another confirmation-aged group until next summer.

Most everyone knows I have been home all week, but no one has bothered me...they know it's not time yet. I do miss everyone, and this week I will be back to sermon writing, which I also miss.

Since a sabbatical is also time for some R&R, Tango and I packed dinner and headed up to my favorite trail, along the North Platte River. A Bald Eagle and Great Blue Heron were among our greeters. This trail has benches along the river and even a picnic table, where I ate. We saw several piles of cat scat, which is not surprising. The area has lots of deer and plenty of Junipers for cover. My taser gives me a sense of security in this situation. I read Tango's cues...he gets skittish if the smells are scary or too near. I forgot my camera. Darn.

On the way back I scouted out some fall migration camping spots with some tree cover and water nearby.

Last night I turned the electric blanket to :D :D :D :D :D low, a sure sign that the season is transitioning up here. It won't be long before I am snuggled in.

A bit after noon now but still early. Finally got a garage! Yay!! :D Plenty of room in there for more storage, a bike and kayak, and close to the gate to the beach for the kayak next year! Will have to check around now for sales on kayaks. I met the new owner this morning. He seems like a really nice guy. They are planning lots of changes and upgrades around here. I told him I am interested in a studio facing the lake if one should open up. I had one here years ago and they are a pretty good size with a separate bedroom area and open kitchen to the living room with a center island/breakfast bar, lots of closet space and $80/mo cheaper. I hate the traffic noise right outside my windows now. Get too much dust and noise if I open my windows. Can't even hear any birds or crickets. Told the owner about my ferrets and he told me about one he had years ago, so he is cool about me having them here.

Took my dad out to run errands already and am now home to do some laundry and relax before playing in my golf tournament later this afternoon.

It is a gorgeous day today! Low 80s', low humidity and sunny with a nice breeze! Perfect! I may go sit outside by the lake for awhile...

Have a great day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
