They mentioned that tick on the ABC Evening News yesterday too. That's pretty scary.

Wandered around a nature preserve today. I've decided I may not be the greatest birder for taking pics, but boy I sure can spot the turtles. Is there such a thing as a turtler

Not a joke so wasn't really sure where to put this, but I think this new Dad is a little sleep deprived.

Peaches is having a dental in the morning. That means no food or drink after 11. Peaches went to bed about 10 and I picked up her bowls. A few minutes ago she got up, went to her water bowl and sat begging. As they originally told me midnight, I eventually couldn't help myself and gave her water. It's up again and I need to get to sleep in case she gets up again. Plus I need to be up early, haha, that should be interesting.

wondering how Peaches did with her dental Beth, hope it went well.
My stitches come out tomorrow but I'm afraid they have to do more cutting. They will do something called
a mosh procedure where they cut and check it under the microscope and keep doing that until they get it all.
It will be a different doctor for this procedure. Will find out tomorrow when that will be done. Resting up from
a couple tough days on the bus, my front ac keeps blowing a relay and then driving the bus is like a sauna, back
air is still working so the kids in the back are ok but then I have to get in my car that also has no ac right now
and drive home. Now they are trying to put another wheelchair on my bus, don't have room for it so it will be
tight and not to mention the kid doesn't get out of school until 20 min. later than the other ones that are fragile.
I'll be late for my next school and they won't be happy. Tried to tell the scheduler this but she thinks I can do
it. She's gonna find out, parents are gonna call cause the two fragile ones will be on the bus a half hour longer
than they need to be and then of course the next school will be calling too. Everyone is gonna be angry. If they
could let the other kid out early with the fragile ones it would be ok and I could "make" it work. I'd still be late
but not as much. But mom doesn't want him to miss that 20 minutes of class. We'll see what happens come monday.
Thats the day this all starts.
I think I really need a good glass of wine, maybe tomorrow with my little 8 hour paycheck. My brain feels a little
numb tonight, too much to think about lately.

Ava, Mohs procedure is what they finally ended up doing on LeRoy's ear. At least they aren't fooling around with you like they did with his! Glad they are taking good care of you. Sorry the bus schedule is already an issue!

Thanks for asking about Peaches. The dental went well, but she wasn't herself until tonight. I went ahead and had the bloodwork done and one test was slightly above normal range. It's a kidney test, so I'll have that one redone in 2 or 3 weeks. Meantime I'm going to see if my finicky eater will eat a prescription kd food. But the food she's been getting is already close to what's needed, so I don't know if diet will make a difference. Time will tell.

I don't understand why they'd make the kids wait half an hour. Hope it'll all work out.

Got home this morning from my camping trip...

I got to the campground Wednesday morning and got set up fine. The weather was perfect, 80 and sunny with slight breeze and 60 at night, the whole time I was there! :D And, surprisingly, no bugs! Guess that is due to lack of rain the past month or so, so no mosquitoes hatching out.

Rode my new bike around the park quite a bit. Spent some time lounging at the beach. Didn't get in the water because just two weeks ago, the beach was closed due to E-coli contamination. It was reopened early this week but I didn't feel comfortable getting in the water so soon afterward. So just sat on the beach and got some sun.

Met my next door neighbors. A nice older couple there with their 3 year old granddaughter. She was adorable! They invited me over the first night to roast marshmallows for S'Mores, so I did that. They were very nice to chat with! I found a little bottle of soap with a wand for blowing bubbles in one of my boxes, so gave that to the little girl who had a blast learning how to blow bubbles for the first time! They brought over their left-over firewood when they headed out yesterday morning since I didn't have any.

The first night I didn't sleep well. Never do the first night in a strange place. However, I had a lot of raccoons rummaging around my campsite (even one scratching at my tent!). Apparently, I forgot to put one of my food bins in the Jeep before going to bed, which I had left by the picnic table, so they were after that. Didn't get it open tho, luckily. About 4 different raccoons came by checking it out at various times during the night, so that kept me awake too.

Yesterday, did more biking, hiking, reading, napping. Had a hard time really relaxing tho. Kept noticing I was still grinding my teeth all the time and just felt restless like I should be doing something. Had to keep telling myself to settle down and relax. It was funny how quiet the whole campground got by 10:00 each night. Everyone was in bed by then. No campfires, no talking, nothing, just crickets chirping!

Yesterday morning as I was enjoying waking to the sound of birds chirping, two squad cars and an ambulance came tearing past my campsite, full lights and sirens on! They stopped at one of the cabins just down the road. One of my clients, who I ran into the night before in the restroom was staying in that cabin with her sister and all their kids. Turns out her sister had a grand mal seizure. She went to the hospital and got checked out but they couldn't find a cause, and she never had one before. They all came back to the campground later in the day. So a little excitement there!

Wednesday evening, my shop manager stopped by my campsite for awhile. Then last night, my friend Steve showed up and we made S'Mores and had cocktails by the fire. Slept good last night (no food left out and no raccoons) and got up this morning, packed up, came home, showered, and headed off to work this afternoon.

My pet sitter (neighbor and client) was thrilled about taking care of my critters! She had a blast playing with the ferrets! She used to own one years ago, so is familiar with taking care of them. She couldn't get over how sweet they are, especially Chelsea. She came into the shop today for a haircut and was telling everyone there what wonderful ferrets I have. :D

Found out tonight that the new owners of my apartment building are going to make some good positive changes around here! The caretaker was telling me about some of the things they plan to do. He is going to look into getting me a garage soon. The beach will be all cleaned up and fixed nice by spring, so I can get a kayak and use it next year.

Time for bed. Gotta get up early for work tomorrow.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

It's Sunday night, so Campfire seems like a good place to check in. I left the BLM campground in Malheur National Wildlife Refuge this morning. Can't remember the name of the campground, Page Spring or Page Creek, something like that. None of the hunters around my site got an antelope on Saturday, so I didn't have to see any dead animals or quarters of dead animals. Whew! Made some new friends, wonderful people from Eugene, Oregon. Three of the four were hunters and gone all day Saturday, so the fourth and I went on a drive around the North Steens Loop and up 205 into the valley a ways. Absolutely gorgeous country and great company. Tonight I'm in Idaho at an RV Park Birdie mentioned near Marsing, River Haven. It's a PA park, so only $12.15 a night. It's on the Snake River and the view is very pretty. OK for one night, but I'll leave in the morning. Mostly permanent residents, very little space between sites, no trees, gravel, etc. Tomorrow I take care of errands in Boise and find a NFS campground in the Boise National Forest. If I find something nice, I'll stay for a while. I'm tired tonight after a day of driving through more beautiful country. Beautiful isn't the right word. It was high desert and very rugged. I kept thinking about how in the world people could have crossed it on horseback, in wagons, and on foot. I wish I'd had to time to stop at the Oregon Trail Museum, but as it was I got here after 6:00 p.m. Life is very very good. And I'm very tired. Olive is already snoring.

Nikki glad you had a good trip to Malheur NWR area. Part of that was closed due to the fires, when I was headed East. Plus I had a tight schedule to be on. You know I got to the pickup spot about an hour before the canoe guy pulled in. I am headed to NF cg in WY after I dump, get fresh water and do laundry at another PA park. Will put a WalMart grocery/med run in between somewhere. Have had a great stops in NF and BLR cg's this trip. Hugs to Olive. Be safe and have a good ride. See ya back home.

Olive sends hugs back, Birdie. Travel safe.

I'll be at River Haven longer than I thought. Turns out they have a wonderful laundry room with big machines and lots of driers. Also turns out that my next door neighbor is the cutest young girl from Texas! Her husband works on a pipeline around here. So tomorrow she and I are going into Boise for a girls' shopping day. I think she's pretty happy to get out of her rig for a day and I'm looking forward to the conversation. I think I'll learn a lot.

I'm plugged in and sitting at 111v with AC on and slow cooker plugged in. I'm watching the little meter Karen convinced me to buy, thank you Karen, and trying to cook brown rice in the slow cooker. I don't usually eat rice or many grains, but I have a craving for brown rice and black beans with spicy tomato sauce. Where do these cravings come from? I also want huge amounts of lemonade and I'm out of lemon juice until tomorrow. Blah! Happy trails to all.

Wish I could send you some lemons, Nikki, I have several. Was just looking at them wondering why I hadn't used them.

Sure would love a couple S'Mores right now! Had quite a few last week and they were so yummy! :D

Took my dad to his doctor this morning to see about getting meds for his dementia. His doctor is the 76 year old who won't listen to us kids about anything. Was the first time my dad let me come in the room with him. His doctor didn't introduce himself to me and barely acknowledge that I was even there. He cut me off when I tried to say something and downplayed the memory issues, telling my dad he is just getting older and a little more forgetful. However, he did prescribe Namenda for him, so we'll see how that goes. I e-mailed my brothers about the appointment and my oldest brother said he got the same treatment from that doctor a few years ago when he met him too. Totally ignored him. My dad thinks he is the greatest doctor in the world, tho.

Played the first half of our golf tournament tonight. I did pretty good! We play the second half next week. Then golf is over for the season. :( There were storms all around us tonight but they all stayed away from where we were luckily. It was very humid out but not terribly hot, and had an occasional breeze so that helped. We always have fun no matter what, tho. :D

Hope you all have a good night! :D
