Circuit Breaker Tripped - Can't Reset

Circuit Breaker Tripped - Can't Reset

Postby JudyJB » Wed Aug 06, 2014 5:37 pm

I was trying to microwave something and it tripped a circuit breaker. I tried to reset it, but the lever will not stay reset.

What does this mean? Does it mean I need to replace something like a fuse? Or the whole microwave??? Hope not the latter. :(

I'm not good at this stuff, but could it have also tripped the GFCI plug? Maybe try resetting that.

When attempting to reset, make sure you flip it ALL the way off, then back on. A breaker will not reset from the "tripped" position.

If that does not work. Unplug the microwave and then try to reset it. Plug microwave back in and if it trips the problem is probably the microwave. If the breaker won't reset (down then up as stated by others) the breaker might have gone bad. They are fairly easy to replace.

I followed your instructions and, voila, it worked!!!

It tripped one more time and I reset but has been working ok since then. Keeping my fingers crossed on not having any more problems. Thanks all.
