Begin Week 2 Weigh-In

Postby mtngal » Mon Mar 02, 2009 10:21 am

Hello at the beginning of our second week. It feels more like a month to me because of the BIG change from TX to CA, sorry to say that didn't translate to a BIG weight lose!

No so many calories driving 1500 miles, but did have good walk on Friday up to the lava cap, hike with family on Sat, and hard yard work on Sunday. Next week I will establish a more even routine of weight work and aerobic. From past experience I don't lose without routine exercise.

Today 169, that's down 1 from last week.

Good for you Soos! Three pounds!! You could be the "winner" this week!

Looking forward to hearing how everybody else did.......What worked? What didn't?

I was also down 3 # on my weigh -in this morning, but I know that's a very tenuous grasp. My weight tends to fluctuate (up) about 2 pounds during the day. So it's probably safe to say I lost 1 pound. That makes four to go.

I started the week off well with diet and exercise, but sort of "fell off the wagon" over the weekend by eating out and eating dessert! Also didn't get as much exercise on the weekend. I hope it warms up enough to get out and do some more yard work. I do better out and away from the kitchen. I also tend to eat more when it's cold....maybe I think those calories will warm me up?

So, it's good that we have each other to encourage us to not give up. Way to go, Soos....you did great! And Diane, you're going in the right direction too. I agree that consistent exercise is a key for me too.

I lost 1.5 lbs last week. I mostly just walked for exercise, and watched what I ate although not as strictly as I should have. So, only a small loss, but at least I'm headed in the right direction.

I had my weigh-in at 7AM today. I'm down another lb. since last Thursday. I am starting stabilization, will do that for the next 6 weeks. What that means is that I'm able to add a few 'more sugary' fruits and veggies to the diet. i.e. figs, raisins, mango, winter squash, papaya to name a few. My protein, dairy and starches all stayed the same amounts as did my total caloric intake. After 6 wks, if I'm good, I'll then go on maintenance for an added 6 wks. The stabilization and maintenance are the two most important parts of the weight loss as after the initial weight is lost, that's when people go back to old habits. (like I have many times before). This time I'm going to stick with it for life!!

Well, according to Wii Fit I am at 154#. Been trying to spend 15 to 30 minutes a day doing something on there. My fave right now is the step aerobics. Not the advanced, cause I can't get my feet going in the right direction for that! But, Wii still tells me that I'm "overweight". Heck, I knew that already!

I'm still trying to make better choices for snacks and eating in general. I know a lot of it is the portion control. I'm working on that too.

Paulette, when I had my Wii fit hooked up (and will again if my room ever gets finished) I did 30 min. a day....10 min. Yoga, 10 min. Strength training, and 10 min. aerobics. That amounted to one row of the exercises in each category, and I would alternate rows. (1st row of each 1 day, 2nd row of each the next day, etc) If I still had energy left my reward was 1 row of balance games. I tried to do them at the same time each morning so it would become a habit.

My story, and I am sticking to it, is that this past week was a study in science to confirm the statement: If you keep doing what you have always done, you get...... No change for me this week but I deserved that. I like the statement regarding success for not adding any pounds this week. For me it is all to easy to add. Don't know what I plan to do yet. I haven't committed to change yet, but know my body would feel so much better. I remember listening to a NPR story regarding an individual who after years had finally had "surgery" of some sort. Her statement was that for the first time she experienced the feeling of "full enough". She had never felt that sensation before over all those years. i often wonder the differences that individual bodies make in the signals they send out. There have been times in my life, those successful weight loss time" that I have felt "not hungry" and the voices of cravings was silent. I wish I understood my own food triggers better. Other than the one that says a package of Oreo cookies is a single serving..... and would keep calling me back to the package, if the package were even allowed to enter the house :)

Paulette, I, too, fall all over myself trying to do the Wii Fit step areobics. My GDs (ages 7 & 8), were here last weekend and we did the step and the 8 yr old told me that it's easier to do it if you watch the Mii person next to you, not trying to match the footprint guide on the screen. Give that a try and see if it helps you.

I'll try to try that! Sometimes it is the connection between the brain and the other body part that I wonder about! And then there are some of the yoga positions! EGAD! I just know I'm gonna end up with a broken hip if I try some of them! But, I know that my BMI has already gone down (not by much but down none the less!) and that is a good thing!

Oh and Liz, I liked your suggestion, but I haven't quite mastered some of those positions/games! I'll keep at it though and maybe some day I won't be an "amature!"

There are some yoga positions I can't do, especially the one with your feet pointing up...it hurts. So I modify those and just do as much as I can without hurting myself.

I have to use a chair for balance when doing a couple of the yoga moves. Like the tree. I tried the step aerobics last night and I have the steps down, just can't seem to hit the board half the time!!

I'll be leaving here in about 15 mins. for my Thursday weigh-in. My scale says I'm up a pound so we'll see... I'm not concerned as I haven't deviated from what I'm eating. It just happens sometimes.

Have a great day, eat wisely, stay healthy!

Ok, had my weigh-in. For the week I'm down just over a pound. Hey, a loss is a loss. I'll take it. Actually I'm on stabilization so a loss is a nice surprise!

Guess this is the pound loss week. I have a tread mill and bike I use for exercise, plus all the walking I do at work. Think it is a mile across that building and I run that two or three times a day. Dropping back and cutting a few carbs out to get this moving down again like I want it too.

Hanging in there got another 3 weeks before I see my doctor...so got to get some more weight off. :)

I fell off the wagon. I think I was only on it for 3 days, then I got a glimpse of myself in a full length mirror! So now the strategy is, I've taken all my pants out of the closet. I've put back the ones that fit, and everyday I'm going to try on the ones I can't get into, even when I lie down to zip them up! I'm hoping to shame myself into doing something about it.
