Last June I drove from Oregon north through British Columbia, the Yukon, and then into Alaska. I returned in mid-September. I did that trip alone, and I loved it, bumpy roads and all. There is something enlightening about traveling alone. If you don't have someone to travel with, don't let that stop you! I felt threatened only once, in a big Fred Meyer market in Fairbanks, where a drunk man behind me in line put his hand on my a%#@!!! I told him firmly to back off and that was the end of that. I loved everything about that trip, and would love to repeat it in a few years.
