Sunny Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny Sunday

Postby carolb » Sun Jun 22, 2014 5:55 am

G'morning all...except...

Irmi :( Sending prayers....I think it may be time for me to Trek on down there & give you hugs in person....

Have been reading here, but just not taking time to post. Barbie, hope you're feeling better, & it seems your trip wouldn't have happened anyway, with all that rain. Martha, fun to be at gtg :) Kathy, what type of riding clinic? My sis hosts clinics at her place in Champaign area with Jochan (sp?), dressage stuff....Sue & Soos, nice to see you both checking in. Black flies, UGH And Liz, care-giving in your future? I've found it amazing how people will resist getting professional help--since I left my cousin/aunt, Cousin is still struggling, but has all kinds of excuses to not get help :(

Still going like a BOOH (bat out of hail) with yard/garden/HarBor. Truly thinking of taking the day off today, but I think the only way to STOP all this insane work is to just get away. Not a bad thought! I've been home for over a month & haven't had HarBor out except for a few miles to jostle bleach in his watertank

Yep, a good day to sit in the yard, enjoy watching the grass grow, & maybe even read a book. Y'all have a great day 8-)

Good morning Carolb & all who follow,
Another hot sunny, humid day has dawned here in the midwest. I love the green expanses of grass & trees around here, but once I'm free to roam, I think summertime will be a time to head to cooler areas - I lost one of my big backyard trees so the heat just beats down on one side of the house. argh... :(
Irmi, thinking of you & your brother's family - sending prayers & loving thoughts your way.
Barbie, it does sound like the rain & temps would have ruined your camping trip - at least you're safe, dry & hopefully feeling better.
Sarah, still a little worried about your hand -but hope you're enjoying yourself. So happy you've booked a site for the KS GTG along with Barb from OKC. :D
Sue, glad you're out & about for a chance.
So jealous of the GTGs about to take place. someday... someday...
Also jealous of those of you working on your places - I need to get in gear & start doing some stuff around here.
Speaking of which, I'd better get a move on...

Hope you all stay safe, cool & dry.
Take care,
Catherine

Good morning Carolb, Catherine & everyone!

Carol, your spot is still available in our yard anytime you want to use it.

Catherine, I can remember how long I waited before finally saying enough, already! Hope your time comes soon!

Today is my Sunday to play for the service in church. The sun is going to shine today with temps only in the mid 80's, so perfect weather. Kind of hard to plan anything with everything going on in our lives. Have a terrific day everyone!

Good morning Catherine, Carol, Irmi, Dayspring and all to follow
This morning we got a nice surprise of about six does on our walk. Hopefully they will be back tomorrow morning when I have the camera. These were not the little swamp deers, but the big ones.

Need to start cracking the book, haven't touched it since I been here and I think the next test needs to be taken by July 5th.

There is a class a out here I'm seriously drooling over, the back of it opens up and you have a little balcony. It has a slider door to go inside, I would want to add the enclosed blinds to that, but dang this thing is nice. They are not full timers yet, but that is their plan. I'll post pics when I get home, cross fingers there will be deer pics too.

Prayers being said for healing and safe travels.

Good Morning

Swelling is finger is down enough that I can bend it now and move both joints; swelling in hand is almost gone. Not really hurting any more unless I touch it.

Discovered when I got back to Magic yesterday, that there was a nest inside my door handle. Think I got it all out but just in case mama stinger might return, I stuffed a plastic bag in the handle last night. Good thing I did that because I happened to be outside this morning when it came back. Grabbed a can of fogger and tried to drown it. Only stunned it enough to fall to the ground where I was able to step on it. I must have inhaled too much of the stuff - still coughing, wheezing, etc. and that happened an hour ago.
Glad I'm not in big hurry to get on the road this morning since don't have too far to go. Breathing is getting better and I still have some coffee to finish and a dog to walk before I unhook.

Have a new problem in Magic: the toilet bowl will not hold water. I had a mineral deposit/hard water stain in lower inch of bowl that didn't budge with scrubbing so about a month ago, I poured some vinegar in it. Forgor about it so it sat there all this time. Vinegar worked as the mineral deposit cleaned up without much trouble however when I flushed toilet noticed the water leaked out quickly. Tried scrubbing again around seal but it still will not hold water. Could the vinegar have damaged seal? Thought that was probably the safest thing to use but know I should not have left it so long. Any suggestions??

So far it is sunny out but forecast for later and most of week is calling for rain. Really hope they got that wrong or at least that it misses us. So looking forward to seeing Mitch and her new rig late this afternoon.

Have a great day.

Instead of those toxic sprays, try tossing a cup of soapy water. It will bring them down and you can breath after, this also will not harm bushes.

Sarah, try rubbing some Vaseline on the seal. See if that helps.

I did the same thing back when I lived in my fifthwheel before. The mineral deposit looked so bad, I just couldn't stand
it and used the clr stuff. After that the water leaked out on the floor and the little bowl wouldn't hold water. The model
I had .... could not get a seal kit anymore, they were obsolete so it was much easier for me to just replace the toilet.

Good morning ladies
up at 3:30, sat outside with my coffee for a good hour, and the kitty came out too and snooped around some more. I
think she is enjoying it and doesn't let Maggie intimidate her. They are ok together. By 4:30 it was daylight enough that
I got the paintbrush out and painted the ends of the boards, and did a whole bunch more, including getting the flowerbox
finished. Just need to paint that on the outside to match the deck. The ac has already kicked on and I'm in for the day.
With the heat I'll be spending another day in front of the tv. It will be like this for the rest of the summer.
Ya'll have a great day and enjoy your weather, your gtg's and everyone be safe.

Good Morning Everyone, nice breeze after our stormy downpour yesterday evening. I'm taking advantage of it and have windows open. Along with monthly rental here you also have a meter and there is an electric fee too. Seems way more then what a month at home is, but not in a position to squabble about it. One person here said something about she thought fee for a couple months on electric was way more then what they pay now, they are permanent residents now. Oh well,

Irmi, I am so sorry to hear about your brother. You have certainly had much to deal with this past year.

Sarah, hoping you have a safe journey and know you and Mitch will have a great time together. We of course, will be looking for pictures. I also saw you have taken Liz's spot at Kansas GTG. I have one I had been saving for you if or when you found you could go. I still have it, if there are others who find they can go, let me know and I will cancel and you can call right away for it. Its site 15, I will definitely be cancelling a couple of weeks before the GTG. Until then not costing me anymore to hang onto it, just incase for some of you. Also, just haven't gotten the urge to be definite about the final plans I had for the summer. Still looking for tall , dark and handsome, good conversationalist and willing to sleep in top bunk, and capable of driving my rig to suit me   Hey, don't take my dreams away :D

One thing I have discovered is I am very comfortable in my rig, so thinking fulltime in it would not be a problem. Also finding what needs to go and what I need in here. :D I knew my shower was a nice size and am finding that it really is nice. With full hook ups it is great, to let the water just run as you do in a S&B. I've enjoyed boondocking too, but this full hookup for any length of time is really a nice change. I think I might change my ways some, when having a site for full hook ups while traveling I just may be hooking everything up instead of just elec. as I have been known to do. I have my front seats turned, one is set for reading and other reclined for resting  I have a stool which I put a pad on and it is a great foot and leg rest, so I am all set. It also would only take a second to change the reclining one if I had company. I have found that I must invest in some better foam for these dinette seats. The back side is good, but the two side seats give way to much. I'm learning a lot being forced to stop and be still for awhile :o

Think I'm beginning to ramble, time to shut up. Hoping you all have a wonderful Sunday, doing whatever takes your fancy.
Those traveling, stay safe, Judi heading for Alaska, we do need pictures, enjoy , its beautiful,
CArol :)
I see some have posted while I wrote , some about Sarah's toilet leaking, I have discovered mine will at times when I am not totally level too. Level it will be fine. Not sure why, but first thought was seal was messed up. some good advice offered here.

Good Morning. Awoke to rain, so today is going to be spent indoors, at least until it clears out. It can get really humid here after a rain. If the sun comes out full force, it will be a real steam bath.

Making decorations and stuff for the July 4th picnic. Waited a little too long to get lights to string around campground area. I did find 2 strands, but I think I'll need about 5. So I'll be making rounds looking for them. I'm using the LED ones, and maybe the one strand of little lantern ones (regular old bulbs) across the end of the picnic area.

OK, cup is empty, so got to get going.

Morning, all. I seem to be having water pump problems again. I had a new one installed in late December, so it is not even a year old. I noticed when I first pulled in to my camp spot on Friday that I had a quarter tank of fresh water so I hooked up my water connection. Yesterday (Sat) when I pulled into my new campsite I had 3/4 tank of water! How can that happen? Last time it was because there was a hole in the diaphragm of my water pump, so I was told, and it filled the fresh water tank. So yesterday, I turned on the water pump to use up the 3/4 tank of water, and it ran but would not pump water. :x

So I am guessing the same thing has happened. Only problem is last time it filled water tank up completely and water spewed out from under vehicle, which has not happened this time. Will try it again later today. I am very level right now, so that should not be the problem. Luckily, I still have city water and have an appointment at dealer on July 2 in Colorado Springs. Will have full hookups until then.

Anxiously awaiting both sets of kids and their families as they drive to meet me tomorrow. One is heading east from California and the other west from Ohio. Supposed to meet in Estes Park tomorrow, which will be very exciting. I have been cleaning dust out of this place and reorganizing for last couple of days. I will be sleeping Ohio son and wife and three kids. Other son has his own 26' trailer he is pulling for his wife and two kids. Will be cooking for 5 adults and 5 kids under nine, so have to do some serious grocery shopping tomorrow on the way.

I'm back from my weekend at Palmetto Island State Park. It was nice even though it was hot. The bugs weren't bad until dark. I couldn't believe how good the wi-fi is. Two years ago you almost had to be in the bath house to get a signal. I was almost at the end of the road and it was still good. This park has a lot of woods and at most sites there are bushes between the sites so you can't see your neighbor. They are trying to get a group of Louisiana women campers going. I thought I better attend since they were in my back yard. The next 2 GTG's are planned a week before holidays and I usually camp on holiday weekends with my sister since she gets federal holidays.
